We will be traveling to WDW the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Our original plans had us arriving on Monday but now we will be able to get there late Sunday afternoon.

The only thing that is available using our points is OKW or SSR. We have stayed at OKW so if we do use points then we would stay at SSR.

We are planning on eating at Downtown Disney on Sunday night and if I remember correctly you can walk to DD from SSR or from the Hilton.

Is it worth using points for just one night then moving (VGF) or should we stay at the Hilton ($208 for two rooms)?

Any day at WDW is a blessing! Go for it.
Yes, there is a walkway/bridge to DTD from SSR CP area.

For me it just depends. The Hilton is an nice hotel. So I would decide if I would rather spend $$ or points and go that way. If I need the points for something big coming up, it's the Hilton. Or if I need the hotel stay to earn status, it's the hotel. Lots of factors LOL!

How many points for your room category?

I would value my points at between $11-13, and see if it's more of less than the hilton.

Don't forget to add the convenience/cost of airport shuttle ($$) vs magic express (free).

On top of that airport shuttle cost (appx $100 for 4 ppl for taxi), there's the cost of shuttling your luggage over ($20? $40?).

These costs are irrelevant if you're renting a car, of course.

That being said...if you're not renting a car, maybe SSR is totally worth it!!

SSR gives you the opportunity to stay at another DVC to compare and enjoy. The walk over is quick and very nice. Good way to start your vacation and be right in the disney action from the start. But if points are high, the hotel would be a good alternative. Plus Disney will move your luggage from one location to the next, if you don't have a car.

I would go with trying SSR for the night, especially since you have never stayed there. It's a great way to get a feel for a resort without having to commit an entire vacation to it. We recently did a trip of five different resorts over five nights, I thought it would be terrible, but I actually loved getting to know all the resorts. I learned I will never go back to BLT! If you have the points, you could also wait list at VGF.

Likely SSR assuming you're talking a 2 BR and wait list for the VGF same category as you have. Or if it's available for the same booking category, room size and for the discount, VGF on cash.

not sure if the rate includes all taxes & fees (parking & resort fee there), if so it's a great rate indeed. I'd jump on it. we stay @ the DTD Hilton often, last trip were upgraded to one of their huge suites. Believe it still offers EMH thru end of year.

it's an easy walk across the street, cutting past the convention center area to DTD.

I would also pick SSR especially if you are planning to go to DTD that same day. Nothing like walking to and from DTD. I would pick the Congress Park area!

SSR is my "go to" resort when I am not planning to go to the theme parks.
