1 Night ASM then 5 Nights ALK Villas some ??

We are leaving 8/23 and staying 1 night in ASM standard room. Then 8/24-8/29 in DVC AKL Kidani savanna studio. What do I need to do with my luggage? We were hoping to do EMH in Epcot on the 24th then be back to AKL to check in to the Studio. Is there a timeframe that my luggage will arrive at AKL? We would like to be back at AKL for swimming by 1pm. Should I bring swim gear with me to Epcot or hope that it will arrive by then? I could upgrade the first night to ALK for $130, is it worth it?

You can do one of 2 things.
1) take a cab over to AKL that morning, check in and hope your room is ready, but since it probably won't be you can store your luggage with the bellhop. I like to do this since I like to know where my luggage is.
2) Give your luggage to your bellhop at the first resort and have them transfer it to AKl. Your luggage will not be transferred until 4pm so absolutely bring your swimsuit and anything else to Epcot.
You can upgrade for the extra money, but I think I would just save the $140 and use $20 for a cab the morning of your transfer so that everything is at AKL and you can get to your room as soon as its ready.

Stay the first night at ASM just let them know when you're checking in that you will be moving to AKL. The morning you checkout - bring your luggage to bellhop and they will transport it for you, and you are free to do EMH at Epcot. But definitely bring swimwear with you. Luggage gets transferred between 1pm and 3pm. So chances are you'll be at AKL before your luggage does. You can check in at AKL anytime after 9am and use the pool and such, but your room will most likely not be ready until closer to 4pm. Once it is ready check with bellhop at AKL if the luggage has arrived.

We're doing a split stay for the first time this fall - I was wondering the same thing. Disney makes it very easy and magical.
