I'm glad I'm not alone! Our 1st trip was in February and my DD who is 5 still gets upset that she's back home and not in
Disneyland. She regularly tells me that it would have been better if we'd never gone because then she wouldn't know what she's missing. We've gone into Disney princess overdrive since we've been home to try and compensate and whereas before our visit I would never, on principle, buy anything at all that carried the Disney logo, I now buy her the Disney Princess magazine, the Disney Princess stickers, Disney Princess chocolate lollies and Disney Princess cartons of drink. She also looks through the photos, the scrapbook she made and Disneyland brochures endlessly. Of course it's not the same as being there but it does act as some sort of solace. I've told her that if I win the lottery we'll have Christmas at the Disneyland hotel but she knows that's pretty unlikely, otherwise I'm going to have to take her again at some point next year because I couldn't bear her disappointment.
As regards taking your 3 children by yourself, I don't know how old they are, but I'd say go for it! I took mine by myself and we had a fantastic time and I would anticipate leaving DH behind next time too! Mine were 5, 7 and 8 at the time and were no problem. We all sat together for the rides we wanted to do and in fact the only little problem I find, which applies wherever we go is the toilet stops. I'm not really happy about seeing my DSs disappear into the male toilets by themselves just yet, which means we all tend to troop into the ladies together - and everyone has to try and go even if they think they don't need to so we don't have to stop again 1/2 hour later!! My trip report is the Cinderella Ball one if you want to read it.
Any tips you have on consoling children will be gratefully received.
Oh actually I've just remembered, I invented the Disneyland memory game which we play when she's feeling down. You know the old 'I went to the shops and I bought a loaf of bread' game and the next person repeats it and adds another item and so it goes on until someone forgets something from the list. Well, we do 'I wish I was at Disneyland......', taking it in turns to add things. eg 'I wish I was at Disneyland on Peter Pan's flight', 'I wish I was at Disneyland on Peter Pan's flight and It's a Small World' etc etc. It works a treat.
Apologies for rambling on a bit.
