.....on Oprah!! :sunny: Did anyone see it?! I don't want to give away who won just in case, but it was a wonderful concept and it will blow Trisha and Ryan's $1 million dollar wedding out of the water!! IMHO :jester:

So what do you guys think?

Denise

I guess I'm just too practical. I'd rather elope and have the money. That's a lot of money to blow on one day!!! Wow. Yeah, you could have a nice (make that a really nice) honeymoon too, but it wouldn't be for me. We went to Disney and were happy as clams.

I like things understated. That's just me.

P.S.- I'm happy for the couple that won it. I bet it will be a whirlwind!!

I saw the show. OMG, give me the money and call a justice
of the peace. I'm sure they'll have fun doing it but gosh, what
a waste. Personally, the honeymoon looked like enough for
me! Would you have picked that couple? They were my last
choice-because of her, she seemed a little cold compared to
all the other women. The guys were all wonderful!

You know it's weird you say that because as happy as I am for the winning couple, it just wouldn't be the thing for DH and I. The first thing on his mind would be that million dollars could do so much more over a period of time for those in need than a one day thing to make a couple's dreams come true.

I'm just really looking forward to our vow renewal in 2006. It will be simple, special, and small. I have no need for anything spectacular. The Father already gave me that when he put my DH in my life. :lovestruc :cheer2: I was always sad about not having that wedding every little girl dreams of, but you know what, I'm still married to the same man and get to reaffirm those vows in a couple of years.

It really was a cool show and very, very generous offer on Oprah's part. As though she can't afford to drop $1 million on someone's wedding. :p

Yes I would have. I was stuck between number two and number three. I didn't find her cold, but very determined, strong, and committed to the love of her life. The first one seemed too giddy for me.
:bored:

I loved this show! The three stories each had me in tears =) I am glad the couple won that did, I really would have been thrilled with any of them.

I guess it doesn't bother me either way about the money, I would have LOVED to have the opportunity to spend a million of someone elses money for our wedding, so to each his own... The money would have been nice instead, but since that wasn't an option, I'd take the wedding =)

I can't wait to see it!!!!! ;)

An incredible waste of resources, IMHO.

If you are gonna give THAT much money away, do it for a worthy cause for goodness sakes. 1 million dollars could really make a difference in many peoples lives (college tuition, habitat for humanity, food banks etc). I know that Oprah also is very charitable, but excessive wasting of money is ridiculous. JMHO.

Well at least we know one thing that will be different from Trista and Ryan's million dollar wedding. NO PINK!!!!! I don't think there is any pink left in the world for this couple's upcoming wedding. I know in a weird way all the pink was beautiful but it also made me think of pepto everywhere. HEHEHEHEHE thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Be careful when getting into the waste of money bit... there are many MANY people think that the money we each spend on trips to Disney are big wastes of money, heck, there are those that think the whole Disney enterprise is a huge waste of money and resources.

It's easy to sit back and judge others on their priorities, esp when they don't share the same ones as yours. Doesn't make them right and you wrong, or vice versa. Just different.

Oprah has always been known to give lots of money and time to "worthy" causes, and it's not like there aren't vendors lined up for miles outside her studio dying to supply things for a minute of advertising on her show.

Oprah won't be on for another 3 1/2 hours here but I'm planning on watching it. Is it a rerun?

I'm with you- I think I would have wanted the honeymoon more. Although with a million dollars, I could have flown both of our families and friends to WDW, gotten suites in the Poly, and had an awesome time getting married with Minnie, Mickey, and the gang. Do you suppose Oprah's party planner would have approved?

Don't think so as the wedding is supposed to happen this fall on her show

Just giving my opinion, there is no 'right or wrong' here. When it comes to Oprah spending money on herself, I would say she earned it (just like WDW trips people go on). But when giving it away, that much money...it is my opinion that it is wasteful.

Sorry to be a downer, but I think spending a million dollars on a wedding is silly! Sure it would be beautiful and all, but I liked the gift of the nice honeymoon better!!!

Hey, it's new to me! :)

I don't watch Oprah very often either. I do like her, the timing thing just doesn't work out.
