1 little, 2 little, 3 little ... but 10!?

My cousin's dog had 10 puppies also, they were born on December 2. The mother is half yellow lab/ half golden retriever. The father is a big ? but she thinks it is either a black shepherd mix or a boxer. She has 3 black puppies and the rest are tan or brown. Someone had told her the dog couldn't get pregnant during her first week of being in heat, I don't know if that is true or not (this is their first female dog). She had the dog in their back yard, their fence is wrought iron and atleast 5ft tall, these 2 dogs jumped that fence to get to her! She was planning to breed it to her brother's pure bred chocolate lab to have as close to a lab as she could get (she wasn't going to try to pass them off or anything, just wanted that mix). She really wants me to take a puppy. They live about 8 hours from us, but we are going to be down their way for Christmas and are going to go visit them and see the puppies. Even if I don't get to have one I am so excited to see and play with them.

We're just over an hour west of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We have to sell them all. With Shadow, Simba and Jack ... we don't have a big enough house for 4.
I'll post more pix when they get a wee bit bigger.

Male or Female doesnt matter...we have a male but he is neutred.

If I can drive 4 hours for a rabbit I can surely drive 2+ hours for a puppy!

OMG they are sooo adorable. You should have heard my kids when they saw the pictures. We love labs. We have a chocolate lab who is just the best dog ever. I've been trying to wear DH down to get a companion for Jake but we travel too much. My MIL will watch Jake when we go out of town but I have a feeling she wouldn't watch two dogs!

I didn't realize that you were so close to me! I lived in Ft Wayne for 10 years but moved to the Indy area about 4 years ago! The pups are adorable! If I didn't already have 2 monster dogs, I'd take a chocolate lab! That's what we had originally wanted, but we fell in love with our Jasmine (lab/rottie mix) and now we have Raven (border collie/australian shepherd mix)!

Shadow, our black lab, had her puppies yesterday ... all 10 of them! She had 3 black girls, 2 black boys, 2 chocolate girls and 3 chocolate boys. What's funny to us is that Simba, the dad, is our yellow lab and not a yellow puppy in the bunch!

So cute! And I'm so glad everyone is doing well.

IIRC, a mating between a black and a yellow will only produce chocolate and black, due to the way the colors are inherited. Chocolate is actually a 'mix' of yellow and black.

Wll that explains it! I didn't know that. These are the first labs we've ever had. Prior to the labs I had a greyhound and a whippet. I was so broken up after I lost them that I couldn't bring myself to "replace" them. Not that our sons didn't love my retired racers but they couldn't play with them being the couch potatoes that they were. Now with the labs ... our boys get tired out before the labs do!

Thanks for the info on the colors, I'll have to tell my DH I know why there were no yellows.

If I'm reading this correctly, the OP is not a breeder. She hasn't spoken of any clearances she's gotten on either the sire or the *****, nor has she spoken of any titles they may have.

Guess I shouldnt of deleted my above post since "airhead" decided to send me a pm anyhow...all I was going to point out was the fact that the op never stated or claimed she was a breeder....but of couse like airhead proved there is always a bad apple in every bunch, someone always has to make a debate/bad comment no matter what the thread is.
