1 hour layover in Montreal long enough?

So my connecting flight from Montreal - MCO was changed. Originally, we had a 1:45 hour layover, which I was a little nervous with, but thought it was doable. But they changed the Montreal - Orlando flight and the layover is now 1 hour, 9 minutes.

Isn't that cutting it a little close? I never been through the Montreal airport, we normally fly into Pearson, but is that enough time to get us and our 3 kids through customs and onto the plane? We are flying in October, so likely no weather delays in Montreal or our local city. But that seems to be really tight?

Is that doable?

And if we somehow miss it because customs is backed up or because we get delayed in leaving locally, will they put us on another flight later in the day?

You should be fine, as the Montreal airport is quite smaller than Pearson and you don't need to pick up your bag.

Here is the process: you exit the aircraft and then make your way to gate 51. Across from gate 51 and before the duty free area, you will see a connection sign with a US flag on it. That hallway is the US custom bypass that will take you to the US custom hall where you have a separate shorter line because you're connecting. You go through security again before seeing the US custom officers. Your connecting bags will be transferred in the meantime and the custom officer will look at pictures of them. If they want to inspect them, they will be brought up to them, else, you won't see them and they will be transfered to your Orlando flight. Right after the custom hall, you will walk through the US duty free store and be let out in front of gate 76. Most Air Canada Rouge flights to the US leave from gate 73 to 76, so chances are, you will be right there. Exiting the duty free shop, there is a Starbucks and Tim Hortons on the right in front of gate 73-74 and on the left toward gate 79-80, you have various stands selling things like Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches, sushis, bagels, etc.
