What are the gift certificates for?
I'm always up for a great deal!:cool1:

I am frustrated. All mine are coming up $2.00 and I can't get through to their 800 number. Oh well!

Sometimes if it is a nicer more upscale resturant they dont give you the full discount but the $2 is still a great deal for a $25 off. Wetried a new resturant from there and it is now our favorite place to go for date night!!!

Woo hoo. I just snagged $25 to Shula's and $25 to Tara Thai for a grand total of $4. THANKS!

Thank you! My parents are visiting and tomorrow is their 49th anniversary. We're treating them to a great restaurant now.

How do these places make money by offering these coupons? I assume most people who buy and use this certificates won't be back to pay full price and will always look for heavy discounts.

Thank you! I scored 4 for one of our favorite restaurants that is so pricey we go rarely. The are for $25 each and paid a total of $4.

For us, we only buy things like this for places we will go back to. The ones I bought today are for a restaurant we have been to many times but since it is costly, we don't go more than 2 times a year. The rule was that we had to spend $35 so we'll be adding in more than what it is worth.

Please remember IF YOU ARE GIVING THEM AS GIFTS...they ARE NOT TECHNICALLY A GIFT CARD...they are more like a coupon. You must spend $XXX amount in order to receive $XXXX off. You must also follow the 'rules' on the COUPON....alcohol not included, no weekends, etc. etc.

I would not give them as a gift and act like they are a gift card. They are not...they are a coupon. If you give them as a gift...also give a gift card in the amount the person needs to spend...which is usually $25 or more. Just giving one that you spent $2 on is just like paying to give a coupon...that person has to spend $$$ out of pocket to get the benefit of your $2 'gift'.

Sorry for the rant or bursting a balloon for someone but it isn't a gift card/certificate. It is a COUPON for $$$ off a purchase...another thread in the community area said it was like cutting coupons from Sunday paper and giving as gifts.

Thanks so much for the heads up, I just scored 5 $25 gift certificates for $7. I also have to disagree with the poster that said these are not gift certificates. If someone is saving $25 it is a gift, that is my personal opinion.

Yes I agree. It is a coupon not a gift card.

A few years ago, my sons school sold movie certificates "makes a great gift"...Yeah right!!! Until I got them and there were tons of restrictions. I wouldn't give them to anyone.

To the OP, thank you...picked up 3 for local restaurants.

To the person who asked about restaurants making money.....

Many can only be used on slower nights, so filling the restaurant is to their benefit. Most 25 certs, have a min of 35 to 50 that you have to spend. If you are like my husband and I, we will order wine as well, therefore increasing the bill. You may also try a place with a coupon that you might not have before. Though, I do agree that once you get people hooked on getting a discount, it can be harder to get them to pay full price!

Thanks for posting this, I was able to pick up three from local restaurants near me :thumbsup2

The only special I'm seeing is the 25$ for 2 movie tickets and a 50$ voucher.

put the certs that you want into the cart. You'll see a box for the discount code and type "JOY" and it will adjust the price.
