Let us begin where all good tales should.... one year in advance! *Me, I like to plan... it's what I do!

Hello, my name is Disbug and I am a Sigma Delta Sorority Sister. Oh, I wasn't always.... I was once like you, a normal, sane, 9-5'er with 2.5 kids a house and a husband. But that was before. Before I found... THE DIS! Here is my story....

HOW IT BEGAN...
I used to think the Computer was for balancing my checkbook, playing Spider Solitaire, and looking up good stuff on EBAY:badpc: . But then, I found MouseSavers and then the DISBOARDS! I was transformed... much like PoisonIVY on one of those Batman Movies... no longer mild-mannered and mundane as a Process Chemistry Lab Technician, I became... DISBUG! *Partly because I couldn't get my original Userid to work and my DD9 wasn't using it at the time! Well, she wasn't! (And I happen to like purple..)

Now about this Sorority, nonsense... how did all THAT get started?

Well over on the Resorts Boards there is this "monster" thread known as the Swan and Dolphin FAQ, Tips and Tricks, Questions and Answers... Started by a wonderful teller of tales and traveller extraordinaire... who goes by, Dreamflight99. :cloud9: A nicer person does not exist on the DISBOARDS. Her knowledge of the Swan and Dolphin is legendary and more importantly~ it's FREE! YES, you heard correctly... FREE! (What? You thought the Swan and Dolphin were comping her EXECUTIVE SUITES??) No way! Everything she imparts is from her heart, generous in every way. No question is too trivial for her to rejoice in answering! I am a recipient of her kindness and strive to follow her example by sharing what I know! Other like-minded individuals began to gather here daily and in the midst of this nurturing environment our friendships were born...

The Naming of the Sorority...

:sunny: During a heatwave last summer, ww52 commented on how we reminded him of a group of Sorority Sisters! We could call ourselves the Sigma Delta's or something like that!:scratchin Hmmm.... my brain started clicking and I mentally zoomed in on how the Greek Symbol for S (Sigma) was curved like a Swan and the D (Delta) symbol was a triangle shape which matched the design of the Dolphin resort and I knew it was KARMA! I GOT EXCITED.... and then I got busy!

Within days, one of our Charter Sorority members, hookedup, designed a sorority avatar. Then came THE OFFICIAL SORORITY coffee mug... everyone wanted one of those! In fact, the factory made them WRONG so many times, I believe we had enough to give away to all future contestants of JEOPARDY! as one of their lovely parting gifts! Before we could stop ourselves, and with the Help of Loubon, we had our picture in the Dis Class Yearbook... followed closely by a sorority song (sung to the tune of "The Lollipop Guild" from the Wizard of Oz...). A motto and secret handshake were instituted to be able to tell the REAL sorority sisters (and brothers) from the imposters! Supersecretcodes and swiss bank accounts were implemented to fund the sorority. As you can see, it began to take on a life of it's own... That is when I knew we would have to begin our own thread (partly to have a forum to run amuck, and partly to keep from getting kicked off the Resorts Board!) The new thread contains information about our favorite deluxe resorts, but in a new light... light-hearted! We continue our lively support of the Swan and Dolphin, but always we are first and foremost members of the FAQ where we all met and became friends...

Face to Face...

It soon became apparent that our group must MEET each other! How else were we to determine if we were truly sisters separated at birth?? Thread discussions included such topics as: Moonlit swims at the Grotto pool; Surrey Bike races around Crescent Lake and who would make it over the BOARDWALK's "HEART BREAK HILL"; saying Hello to Thabo and Mama T at the Royal Beach Club Concierge... We laughingly discussed running "amuck" in the halls of our Sorority House (the Swan and Dolphin, of course!)... padding up the halls in our flannel Mickey PJ's and slippers, looking for a chocolate croissant and a cup of 100% Columbian Coffee... (Which by the way, I actually did... but #1HockeyMom was still asleep so therefore, my story canot be corroborated!) As the idea of a Dismeet started to grow and look like a reality... it became evident that we needed somone to head things up and get the ball rolling. I volunteered to do the legwork from Florida to set up interesting things to do, and coordinate some group events. This coordination, of course included several more solo trips to WDW! Sigh~ the sacrifices, I make! :hyper:

Some of our most fun moments during the planning phase came as we tried to use Disney's Magical Gatherings Planner for our Group chats... (We each downloaded this to our own computers and it gave us a forum for email, chatting, and making plans...) We had never used the CHAT ROOM feature before and decided one week to give it a go... It was most comical trying to type complete sentences! Many of the words were replaced with ****! That is SOME "obscenities" filter Disney has programmed into that Planner! It disallowed such words as "Peter Pan", "Tinkerbell", "woman", "good", "God", "Mom" and "Apple Pie"... well, maybe I threw the last few in, but I'm tellin ya it's hard to carry on a coherent conversation without some of these words! In fact, I'm not convinced that we missed dining at some places because we couldn't be sure if what we typed was the original word or not! Somewhere there is a manual with all of the official Disney code words for using this Magical Planner! OHANA may mean family, but I think I would prefer to just type... FAMILY, I***NOWWHUTIMEAN? aaacccck! The MG Planner Obscenity editor has crossed over to the Boards and is now on the DIS!

After much discussion, a hard decision had to be made about the actual date.... I took a poll and came up with the week of July 18th-25th, 2004. It turned out that several people did not make it or came a week earlier, others came in the middle of the week or just for a day, but that is the nature of planning... Not everyone is gonna get there at the same time! For those who were early, late, or missed it altogether~ read along and we'll catch you up! For those who were there? I have PICTURES and I'm not afraid to use them! LOL!

So now that you are up to speed on how THE SIGMA DELTA SORORITY RUSH WEEK came into being, look for installments as we prepare to tell you how we RAN AMUCK! :thewave: :crazy2: :grouphug:

What will the movie version of this tale be rated???? Can one run amuck and still keep a G rating???? :p

Can't wait to hear all the escapades Disbug!!!! :D

I THOUGHT I PAID YOU OFF WELL ENOUGH TO KEEP OUR SECRETS!!!!

in Panoramic full color, but the rating will always be a G!

*(The Magical Gatherings Planner is now over on the Boards and I'm sure will edit out any objectional material! LOL)

uh... jgates! I did not receive the final installment payment so all bets are off!! :yo-yo:

*laughing* Yep, we're rated G for goodness and gracious and everything that is good! (thinking that Goal also begins with a G!:hyper:

:D ;) :p :p

jgates~ you needed to transfer $$$$ from the secretSwissaccount directly to Disbug's account.

I feel like I just sat through a movie trailer that makes even more anxious to see the whole feature (rated G of course, and I assume will be liberally augmented with visuals from Lou).

Thanks for the spot on the opening credits. And thanks to all for getting me interested in a "non-Disney" resort; trip two to the Swan is all set for this December (we just added another day). I doubt I would have considered it without the thread.

To those reading the trip report considering the Swan/Dolphin - they are a great bunch of very friendly and helpful people on the FAQ thread - jump over and ask any quesitons you might have.

And now - waiting for the main attraction to begin...

grabbing a front row seat next to WW52

"here, I brought popcorn for everyone!" This is much better than those family slide show nights!

PS I wasn't asleep, I was just resting my eyes after almost two days with no sleep! *next time please knock louder! The door was on the kids' end of the room anyways... hehehe

:Pinkbounc I'm am so glad you decided to do a report on SIGMA DELTA SORORITY RUSH WEEK

Can't wait for the fun to start.

Glad to read your posts as I missed you gals by 1 week...

I have been editing my first two installments of the trip report... Thanks to interruptions from the GIRLS... I left stuff out.. So you might think it worth a re-read! LOL!

What's really funny... is that I wrote this thread almost entirely.... and then LOST it when I hit my internet explorer button! OMG! Talk about crying....

Actually, the second version turned out better anyway! I just can't seem to write these on paper. I have to just sit down and write on the "fly" or I just can't seem to do it! I'm glad you are enjoying these first two prequels!

I was out of town for a couple of days and this FAB trip reort is awaiting!!! Can't wait to hear about all of the shenanigans (and hopefully see some pics)!!!

Oh, yes! There will be pictures! I didn't come all that way to not bring back proof... LOL! In fact, that is why we are experiencing a brief pause in the trip reports sequence... for picture editing operations!

More to come!
