? 1 day ticket and not using

If you have to purchase a 1 day ticket to get the dining plan but don't use it at all, can you hold the ticket and use it on another trip to WDW? I know that tickets expire 14days from the first day you use them but I was unsure how it works with only 1 day.

that as long as you do not use the pass to enter the park, the 1 day pass remains active until used. Unlike a multi day pass, where the 14 day clock starts running from the first use, if you don't use it, it is still good.

Just remember if it's attached to your room key, you don't use it to get in the parks.

If we think we might not use it, could we ask to have the actual ticket rather than attached to the room key? That way it could be tucked away for a later trip and no chance of accidentally using it.
