Hi. We are staying at AKL before our cruise and have a 1 day park hopper for a Friday (end of February). We've not been to Disney World ever. My thought is Animal Kingdom in the morning then hop to Magic Kingdom. Is that a good plan? It'll be me, DH, DS10 and DD9. Any advice on a touring plan or where to look for just 1 day. :) Thank you! :)

I am doing the exact same thing in November. Planning to go to AK for rope drop and walking straight to Kilimanjaro Safari, then heading to the Maharajah Jungle Trek and spending the rest of the day in Dinoland (Triceratops Spin, The Boneyard, Finding Nemo Musical). Eating lunch at The Flame Tree and heading back to the hotel to rest.

In the evening we are going to Magic Kingdom around 5PM. I have fast passes to meet Anna and Elsa and Enchanted Tales with Belle and watching the fireworks.

AK can be done in a morning. In fact, I usually hop about mid-day when I go. Magic Kingdom though is easily a full-day park. If this is your first trip or only one for a while, I'd concentrate on MK.

I did this last year before our cruise but we stuck to AK. I didn't want to have too long of a day and knew MK is a big park. My son loves animals, we got there for rope drop, did the safari then had breakfast at Tuskers, then checked out all the animal trails, he did the thing where you get stickers in the book for finding certain things, he loved that. Kiddo isn't into the bigger rides, but he played at the boneyard for hours. and hours. seriously. I spent so much on tickets for him to play at the playground lol, he is a dino nut though, and wants to be a paleontologist. Any way :) We had a great time and he really wants to go back there, says we have to do AK every trip. We were able to go back to the hotel after and wander around. We have no regrets, and it was a good little taste of the parks, and the hotel. We stayed at AoA and walked over to POP to check it out as well. We even went swimming (and it was cold!).

The Unofficial Guide has good one day touring plans. Have fun!

We are planning to do the same for one of our Nov days. We will rope drop AK and have fast passes reserved for late afternoon at MK. However, we go often and know exactly what we want to see and do. As a first visit, I agree it may be a lot.

If this is your first trip, I'd actually skip Animal Kingdom and just go to MK. You can check out the animals where you're staying to get the AK feel.

MK is quintessential Disney and I personally think you might look back and wish you had just spent all day at MK.

Just my opinion!

A lot depends on how energetic your family is. You already have a hopper so you could just go to AK for a few hours and then head over to MK. I would get my three FP+ at MK for later in the day and also make Advanced Dining Reservations for somewhere in MK for that evening. I would try to see the evening parade and watch the fireworks. And don't expect to see it all. You will just get a taste of what it's all about and that's OK.
