1 day at Universal??

Hoping we can convince the "planner" that it's okay if only those who want to go to Universal do. We certainly don't all stay together at the Disney parks the whole time. It's iffy, though, as the whole trip is a gift.

Ok, if I am being gifted an entire trip then I would just go along with whatever is planned if I wasn't paying for it. I would be willing to spend a day at Universal on somebody else's dime just to check it out & see if on future vacays I want to spend more time there.

Now if I was paying for my own vacay then I would be doing what I want!

I don't know how many in your family but you may want to price out an extra day at Disney vs 1 at universal. When you add 1 more day to a 4-5 day disney ticket it is not that much. One day at universal may be $80 a person. Price it out and see that may help you decide.

We normally have a Universal part of any vacation to Florida :goodvibes

Going to move this over to the USF boards :thumbsup2

suggest you check out www.universalorlando.com and read what is in the parks to determine if your group has interests in spending a day there.

if you need more info, there are plenty of youtubes of the rides online.

i do both the motherland and darkside each vacation.
i enjoy them both.

i couldn't imagine going to orlando without hitting both theme parks.

The first half of November should be quiet. Know that you can wait to buy the Express Pass until you are there and have seen the crowds for yourself.

We followed this excellent advice -- especially since Express Passes are good ONLY for the date they are purchased for (price varies by date). And what if we wanted to change our day?

I figured that mid-March would be so busy that we would need the Express Passes, but we went on a Tuesday (reportedly the least busy day of the week, along with Wednesday), and we didn't need to buy them. (However, we didn't ride anything more than once, except for the Hulk and Dragon Challenge. I say "we" but actually only the teenagers did those.)

Thanks! My plan is to go on Nov 10 which is a Sunday. I would rather go to US on a weekend as Touring Plans has the week getting less busy at Disney as the week goes on. I'll wait until we get there and see how the crowd looks.
Thanks again!

We love Universal but my 12 year old son absolutely loves it. We have been many times when it has been very quiet. Then had a 2 year break because we were there in August and new it would be busy. Last year we were there in August again and paid for 1 night at Hard Rock so we could get the Express Pass. We spent 2 whole days there and are doing the same this year mainly because my brothers family really want to go. However, saying that, I wouldnt go if I didn't want to. Its very expensive and will cost £500 (pounds not dollars) just for 2 whole days there for the 3 of us. Hotel is £200 and tickets £100 each but they are 14 days tickets which are just as cheap as getting 2 day 2 park tickets. I guess we would go back later in the holiday but not sure I can face the crowds.
Alos we are there for 23 days so not losing a day at Disney. If I were only there for 5 days I think I would skip Universal unless I was guaranteed that it was going to be quite and I could relly get my monies worth and get on every single ride.
This is my brothers first trip and we have both been clear that neither will be offended or upset if the other doesn't want to do something. We will both have our own cars so I wouldn't worry about not always being together.
