I realize doing both IOA and universal studios in one day isn't the best option but my friend and me are trying to save money.. we are staying with a relative in jacksonville and going to go to universal for a day.. anyway..

first question is what day would be best for us to go? We will be in florida from June 1 to June 12.

second, would an express pass be a good idea? looks like it would be about $30 more each to get it for both parks.. but like i said we are trying to keep the cost low if possible

finally, which park first and kind of an order we should do the rides in? we arent really interested in most of the gentle kind of rides or most shows.

also i realize we should get there as early as possible since they sometimes open the gates early.

Thanks!

We have always done US / AI in one day....never had a problem....

It's not really a 2 day park for us....we're DH, me, 3 teens. They love the rollercoasters....you'll be fine....just do some research on what might be 'missable' rides for you....

my map is in the car or I'd go through the whole park for you....

BUT: US - def hit Mummy, Twister, Simpsons(new - so maybe go first or early), MIB, possibly the horror show - it is good...

AI - def hit dueling dragons, water rides if you like that (Jurassic, Popeye) Spiderman, Hulk.... we love Mythos - for lunch/dinner a bit expensive but really cool atmosphere...

we usually go the busiest time of year (July 4th) and basically have little or no wait....I don't know - maybe we're lucky?

I've probably missed some stuff - but when I get my map I'll look....

Have a great time - I'll be there again 5/26.

any recommendations on which day would be best to go? on the first week we are there it looks like they are only open till 6pm and the second week they are open till 7pm.

also when looking at express pass prices, on june 2 (tuesday) its cheaper than all the rest of the days including the next tuesday which makes me think they expect a smaller crowd.. is there a reason that june 2 is going to have a smaller crowd?

Because schools don't let out in Florida until June 3, teachers remain at work 2 days after that.....

So I assume they expect crowd levels to lift when Florida Residents are able to visit....

The crowd issue to me is almost a moot point...even with WDW. I mean...the parks know when the crowds will be there or not and change hours accordingly.....

Like I told a co-worker today...he is trying to go when crowds are low to WDW....The park WILL adjust for lower numbers and not as much is available...

We usually go when the parks are the busiest (we just have to with 3 in High School)....but we also go at a time when there are the most SR's open, FP's open, more shows, longer park hours, etc....so we've always had a good time even if more folks are there......

We were at US July 4, 2008, and July 4 2006...and for both vacations...an express pass would have been a waste of money....and US was open last (10p or 11p) both times.....although we finished everything up and left by 7p....

LMK if any other questions....and Have a Great time!

so you would recommend not getting the express pass? it just seems like if we want to be able to do everything in both parks (besides the kiddy rides and most of the shows) that an express pass would make it alot easier? but then again i have only been there once a couple years ago and we went for 2 days so i would very much like to hear everyone's opinions

Just typed up a 30 minute reply and it got lost! :sad2:

I have the maps in hand now. I went through every ride IN ORDER (UGH) :confused3

Found 14 "Attractions" including 4 shows that I thought you might like...named them all, etc. etc.

Now I'm frustrated....

IMHO (in my humble opinion) you can do US/IoA without Express Pass...but let's see what others have to say....

Dis-mail me if you have specific questions...I've spent too much time on this now.....

aww.. that sounds like it would have been really helpful maybe if you happen to have some time you could type up a summary of it again.. even though it got lost thanks for taking the time to type it up :)

dont you have a certain amount of time that you can get the express pass (isn't it til like 3 pm or something) if we decide we need it?

I've never needed the Express Pass...

I'll try again...but won't be near what I typed up before....

US:
Enter, Pass up Jimmy Neutron(kiddie), and Shrek(kiddie), Twister (show type, we like), Mummy (best of the old rides in US), Blues Brothers/Beetlejuice (never been- missable), Disaster (show/ride - good), Jaws (if I've been - I've forgotten it), Fear Factor LIve (Show - I would miss, you might like) MIB - Ride-GO, The Simpsons (Ride, new ultra cool ride/simulator- go) Animal Actors (show, kiddie), Barney, Woody, ET (all Kiddie), US Horror Show (Show - you might like), Terminator (me & DS17 says forgettable...but a show type thing)

AI:

Enter, Pass up Seuss Landing (kiddie), (We eat at MYthos there - really cool but expensive), Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury - Missable Show/attractions.

Dueling Dragons - you will want to ride twice.
Jurassic Park: Pteranodon FLyers (not sure it's up your alley), Jurassic Park RIver Adventure (yes), Discovery Center (no),

Toon Lagoon : Dudley Do RIghts' RIpsaw Falls (yes - get soaked), Bilge Rat Barges (maybe - get soaked),

Marvel Super Hero Island: Spider Man ( Our Fav at AI), Doctor Doom's Fearfall, Storm Force Accelerator (Haven't done these last 2....but you probably will), Hulk ("Please remove Prosthetic limbs prior to riding this ride")

Going to send before proofing - hope this helps...have the maps if you have questions...

Mary
