We are taking a day of our Disney trip to explore what Universal has to offer. I know, only one day, but I am having a hard time even giving up one day. Baby Steps! We will get to Universal before opening and do everything we want there then head over to IOA and finish the day. My question is: Do you think it would be beneficial to get an express plus pass for IOA since we won't be there first thing in the morning? We will be there Wed., Sept.27, so I don't expect big crowds, but I want to reduce our time in line as much as possible.

You could get it, but IMHO it would be a waste of $$$. The crowds will not be very long at that time. I believe the EPP for both parks is $25/person.

Even though the lines shouldn't be to bad, that day (although you never know...), I'd suggest you wait and see. You don't have to by the EPP before your vist, so if I were you, I'd just wait and see how the lines are, and if I felt like we wouldn't be able to get everything done, I'd run to guest services or a gift shop that sells the passes.
However even with reasonably short lines, if you plan to try to do everything (or even almost everything) you might still need the passes. 20 minutes doesn't seem like a bad wait...but if you're trying to do all the rides, all those 15-20 minute waits are really gonna add up.

I agree, wait and see..
Crowds were low when we went on Oct 1st, and I really doubt the express pases selling out that time of year, so you can easily wait and see how it goes.
