We're Universal newbies and because our kids are finally at the height requirements, we want to try Universal. We only have time to see both parks in 1 day. Should we splurge on the Express passes at $25 each to be sure and see everyting? Or do you think it will be slow enough to do it all without?

I was going to post the exact same question but we will be there on Sept. 27th. Are crowds bad enough to warrant the extra $25 Express pass (I will gladly pay for it if needed, just don't wanna waste money....).

I asked what the crowds were like at universal in the fall.....people told me that the lines were not that big....(September anyway). Likely alot bigger on Halloween Horror Days. But from any books I have read....lines are not that bad at all

Is there no response because this a question that's asked too much?

I think it is because no one knows the answer. Normally October is slow during the day but Orlando schools are out on that day and the crowds could be massive or the parks could be empty. My suggestion is wait on buying the passes. If you find when you get there, that the parks are busy then buy it then.

Our family went to Universal last year on Oct 19th (Wednesday). We had express passes for that day. We arrived at IOA early and found the express pass unnecessary. Once we hopped over to US later in the morning, then we found that the express pass was very useful, esp at Shrek and MIB. Later in the afternoon we went back to IOA and road Spiderman and Hulk and used our express pass.

So we were glad we had the passes even though we only used them later in the day. This was not a HHN date.

Thanks for the helpful responses. I'll chew on this great information and decide soon.

Is Oct 16th a FL school holiday?!?

Florida doesn't have statewide holidays. Each county sets their own school calendar.

Orlando is NOT out of school on the 16th though. Other Florida schools may be though.

I asked a similar question about a month ago.

We went on Sep 26. Very quiet. We bought a one day, one park, pass on-line, just to see if we could even do 2 parks.

We arrived late 10:00 AM. We hit IOA first. We were able to do the major attractions in 2.5 hours. We did miss the stunt show. We then went to guest relations and bought the 2 park upgrade.

We then went over to US and did, ET, BJGR, earthquake, Jaws, nicklodeon ride and Shrek. We even included lunch at the burger joint with the vintage cars.

Theer were no lines. Only waits were when we arrived between showings (like Shrek). I would go and upgrade when you got there. Its a painless process, and really doesn't save much (any?) to pay in advance.
By 5:00 we had enough and went back to WDW (it was starting to pour, plus we had a lllloooongg walk back to the car).
