So I'll be coming off of 3 days of the DxDP and have 1 credit left. My last day in the Parks starts with Marceline to Magic at MK then over to HS to end the trip. I have to leave Disney at about 6:30pm to drive to the Tampa airport to pick up my wife and daughter and then we'll continue the trip in Clearwater. I currently have 2 reservations but not sure which to keep. A 3:45pm at Sci-Fi and a 5pm at Boma. Obviously Sci-Fi would be more convenient but I've yet to try Boma. As a point of reference I will be eating this trip at both Tiffins and Jiko.

So with all that said,

1. Which would you choose based on the above info?
2. Would you consider another option other than the 2 above?

Thanks in advance!

I like Boma but you would have had your fill of that cuisine after Jiko and Tiffins. I'm not much of a fan of any of the dining in DHS but I've heard that the Brown Derby Lounge (small plates) is really good.

Sci-Fi. I love the atmosphere there and not commuting to an ADR will maximize your time in the park (which would be my priority). If you'd be driving yourself to dinner, I'm not sure it's as big of a deal as wasting time on the buses, but I still think that I'd personally prefer to stay in the park.

Thanks for the replies. I will have a car by the way so getting elsewhere won't be an issue.

Has anyone dined solo at Sci-Fi? I have no issues dining solo but was wondering how it would be sharing a car with others.

I have seen people sitting in cars alone so I assume they won't make you.

I know you didn't ask for other suggestions but since you have a car....one of our favorite meals was at Raglan Road. We've been 3 times now and our third time last week did not disappoint. Our reservation was around 6PM and there was a lot of entertainment going on in the restaurant, the food was EXCELLENT (my husband said the cider pork chop was fabulous) and the desserts are excellent. It's a real good use of 1 TS from booze to dessert.

If it were my family & we had park hoppers, we'd hop to Epcot & eat at Les Chefs de France. This is obviously personal preference. No offense to Christine, but we'd literally eat anywhere but Raglan Road. I always recommend people go with the option that works best for them.

I've dined there a few times solo, and every time, I was given my own row, but had to share a car.

All seats in the cars face forward, so even if you are seated in the same car with others, no one will be looking at each other.
Ideally this would be the case, but there was one occasion when the toddler in the row in front of me kept turning around and staring at me.

There were several attractive options I was considering in Epcot. My concern though was timing. Since I wouldn't be getting to HS until around noon and then having to leave Disney at 6:30 for TPA and with having to park at Epcot, get through security and walk back to World Showcase thought I might be rushing through my day a bit too much.

LOL. That would be fine. I'd have been a week away from my family at that point so might enjoy the interaction :-)

No offense taken and I've heard that before. I just can't figure out why. We eat out a LOT everywhere--at home in the DC area and wherever, so it's not like we are unaccustomed to restaurant food. I've had one or two people feel strongly against Raglan Road but I never get a reason why. As for Chefs de France, I have often wanted to give it a shot but the mediocre reviews have stopped me in my tracks every time. One of these days though, I'm just gonna do it!

We've eaten at RR three times.

The first time we ate there for lunch. I had the worst burger I've ever tasted. I would like to say I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. I tried a couple bites, but that was all I could stomach. I'm a very adventurous eater, but the combo didn't work. I noticed it didn't last long on the menu, so I'm obviously not the only one that found it vile. DH had fish & chips. He found them soggy & not at all comparable to the fish & chips he's had at similar restaurants. He said he'd never order them again. We shared the bread pudding & didn't find it as good as other bread puddings we've tried, but that could have been my fault. I had read reviews that talked about the amazing sauces & emptied both of them in the pudding. It was way too sweet to be palatable. We tried putting it in a plate & scraping off as much sauce as possible, but it was too late to salvage it.

The second time I ate there was for dinner. DS & I met family there. They chose the restaurant. We were happy to give it another try hoping for a better experience. We shared Dalkey Duo, Scallop Forest, Mighty Mussels, Goat Figure salad & the dessert flight. Most of this was ordered, because I had read good reviews about them. Nothing was as good as comparable versions we've had at Irish restaurants here. The dessert trio was poor, grocery store quality. Most of our grocery stores offer much better.

Not one to give up, I allowed DISers to talk me into trying it once more for brunch. The brunch was supposed to be excellent, so I made an ADR hoping it would be better than our other meals there. (FWIW, I'm not blaming DISers for our experience.) There were four of us. We started with Crock O' Pate & an Irish Egg. Two of us had the full Irish. The other two ordered Eggs Benedict & pancakes. The one who ordered pancakes was happy with her meal. We all tried it & thought it was good. The rest of us thought our meals were bland & didn't compare to the Irish restaurants here. After that meal, DH asked me to not book that restaurant again. DS agreed. DS is similar to me & more discerning about food. DH will eat anything. For DH to ask me to not book that restaurant again said a lot. RR is the only restaurant at WDW he's said that about. As a side note, DH & I had met my sister & BIL at Wolfgang Puck Express for an early breakfast to catch up. We shared the corn flake french toast to save room for our RR brunch. That was our first time eating breakfast at WPE. We both thought that french toast was by far the best thing we had that morning/afternoon.

Thanks for the feedback!

I ordered the Cider sauced salmon and my husband and the Cider brined pork chop. For some reason, my husband always orders a pork chop if someone has it on the menu, so he's had them from various places. He thought it was one of the better he had. My salmon was, well, salmon, and it was done well and the sauce was great. Anyway, the bread pudding. It's definitely a different sort of bread pudding... extremely rich and filling and the sauces on the side are incredibly sweet. I lightly dip my bread into them. I can finish about half of it.

The comment about the grocery store quality desserts--I felt exactly the same way about everything on the Boma dessert buffet. All unimpressive, but so many people love it.

Since no one yet suggested it, consider walking or boating to the Boardwalk area. Especially since you are alone. You can scout out the area for future visits. You could have dinner at Beaches and Cream, sitting at the counter, for a casual meal. Or, find an alternative restaurant. Or even walk/boat all the way to EPCOT.
