1 Bedroom during Prime Times

Available at 7 month window for BCV and BWV?

I am thinking of Feb, Easter or July 4th week.

Will I need either to be my home resort?

1 bedrooms are the easiest to book of all the room sizes. At BWV you will have a decent chance of getting a preferred view for those dates if you call right at 7 months. It will be harder to get standard or BW view, but not impossible. I have less experience with BCV, but I think that July 4th will be tough at 7 months, Easter tough also, Feb. not as hard. If getting one of these resorts at these times is a must, it would be good to own there. Good luck.

Given the choice of having BCV or BVW as my home resort and being able to get what I want every year at 11 months, versus getting a possibly cheaper resale somewhere else and worrying everytime I plan a vacation that I'm going to be stuck on a waitlist, or shut out of the week I want.....well, I know what I'd choose.

DVC is a large expenditure. I'd rather spend a bit more and be assured of getting the location I prefer.

If you really want to stay at BCV or BWV, you really need to purchase your points there. BCV is hard to get during the summer months.

Since there are so many members who want to reserve the smaller resorts (BCV, VWL & BWV) at the 7 month mark, you'll need to call day by day to get what you want. You may even have to use the waitlist.

Competiton for the smaller resorts at the 7 month mark will continue to increase as DVC membership grows.

If you will be happy at your home resort if you can't get something else at 7 months, buy wherever you can find the best deal. If not, buy where you want to stay most often. For me, the only exception woudl be if you cannot plan your trips more than 7 months in advance.

BCV is hard to get during the summer months.

I am sure it will get more difficult. But I've been able to secure BCV in the summer months twice. Once, was a one bedroom in July, was booked at under five months out.

I just called this morning to change my BCV studio for first week of F&W to 1 bedroom with no problem. I only had enough BC points to change 2 of the 3 nights. I am planning to change the 3rd night at the 7 month mark using WL points. I asked the CM how the availability looks, and she said we should easily be able to book it. Hope I make someone happy by freeing up a studio!

If you want those times and those resorts most trips, you should buy one or both. These are times you could and likely would be shut out of many years.

I would "buy where you want to stay" provided:

1. That you can book more than 7 months out, and
2. That you REALLY CARE where you stay.

If you can't book more than 7 months out, what's the point?

And if you'd prefer one resort, but would be fine anywhere, what's the point?

I think you also need to realize that no matter where you own, certain types of accommodations may be gone exactly at the 11-month mark for certain periods, and owning at that resort is certainly not a guarantee that you will always be able to get what you want.
