We are 2 families getting ready to go down to WDW...I'm just not sure which resort we want to stay at? Any building preferences? Any ideas? We are going for 5 days... have kids ages 2,4,5,7 and 8. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

Lysanne

All are nice but OKW has the largest rooms. Huge balcony. :smooth:

OKW all the way, the rooms are large and nice to have own entery into rooms. The rooms at BCV,BWV,VWL are a small for 2 parents and 2 kids. You will not be running into each other at OKW.:bounce: :bounce:

Are you each getting a one bedroom or are you getting a two bedroom? 9 people are not going to be comfortable in any one-bedroom.

We just recently survived a "mine is better than yours" DVC discussion. My take is that they are all wonderful. The room size at OKW is larger and park transportation is by bus. The other WDW DVC's have smaller rooms and alternative access to at least one park. There are also other "pros and cons" to each resort that reflect more of a personal taste but you can't go wrong with any of them!

Keep the info coming! So far looks like everyone likes the larger OKW villas. We will be getting 2 1 bedroom villas, not just one and not a 2 bedroom. We're all family and we need a place to decompress away from my sister's family. It just gets a little wild. We both have 3 kids (both with toddlers of age 2).

Lysanne, OKW is very relaxing. The quiet pools are very warm and not usually crowded. The whole resort is very green and spread out and the environment is very laid-back. Nice when you have little ones who are pooped out from the parks. When they are teens you can do Boardwalk!

Are you getting a 1 br or a 2 br? In a 1 br you will be very crowded, a 2 br would be much better, everyone could have a bed.
With the large group that you have an OKW villa is the best choice by far. The 1 br OKW villas are much larger than the other DVC resorts and the studio part (or 2nd br) has 2 beds. Also the dr has a much larger table, larger kitchen etc. You definitely will be more comfortable at OKW, preferably in a 2 br villa. 9 people is a large group especially with 5 of them little kids, you are going to want all the space you can get and OKW is the resort where you will get it.

Personally, we prefer BCV for the location and nearby activities. But you'll want to make sure you have enough room for your group. A one bedroom won't be enough. If your planning on having two one bedroom villas, one for each family, personally you'll have plenty of room whichever resort you choose, I'd pick WLV if you'll be going to MK, or BWV or BCV if you'll be going to Epcot and MGM more often. The crescent lake area is wonderful, tons to do close by. Lots of eating options. People can go thier seperate ways the then regroup. With the younger kids, we find ourselves taking an afternoon break, and it's great to be close by your resort to be able to do that easily, and then head out to another park later on. But that's us, OKW owners like thier resort too for lots of good reasons, it's just not our top choice, in fact it's probably our last preference. But that's just us.

Woops!! I did not read the whole thread before I posted.
Since I just read that each family will have their own 1 br villa, then any of the resorts will be very nice. OKW has more room to spread out and is more laid back the other resorts are more conveniently located for easy access to parks, dining options etc.
Have a great trip!

I would take OKW their one bedroom is huge, we stay in the one bedroom unit every trip, except for this coming December when we will have a 2 bedroom unit, since our grandchildren will be coming down with us.

OKW for the room!! We've done a one BR at VWL and OKW. The atmosphere of the WL is much more "happening" than the relaxed feel of OKW, but with young children (stroller and pack-n-play crib) you'll need the room at OKW.

My favorite ---- which ever one I am staying in. I know it sounds silly, but when I am at the resort, I get totally wrapped up in that resort.

The one-bedrooms at OKW will definitely give your families more room to spread out. And the laundry rooms just fit a pack N play. Our 16 month old spend four nights in there and slept snug as a bug.

For studios, I prefer any resort but OKW because I like having the sofa.

OKW - If you are planning any family meals in your villa you can't beat the kitchen and dining area at OKW. It's huge and the table is large enough for 4 chairs, plus there is another round table and 4 chairs on the deck.

That said, with little ones, if you're going to spend a lot of time at the MK, VWL would also be a good option, as it's close to the MK, etc.

When we bring guests, it's always OKW. The extra space is wonderful!! We love the boardwalk area too.

As others have stated, all resorts are great. Check out the floor plans in the guide book. It really boils down to how you plan to use your villa and what you will be comfortable with.

Have a great time!
