Background on us: We are planning our first family trip to WDW in Sept. It will be myself, DH, DD 2 & DS 16 months. We will also be traveling with my single, childless, bestfriend who is also my children's godmother. We will be staying at the BWV and have park hopper passes.

Anyway, my girlfriend wants to go to Chefs de France since she has fond memories from one of her previous trips. Now correct me if I am wrong, but it doesn't seem like this would be the best restaurant for toddlers (especially with those terrible two's tantrums) My DH has 'volunteered' to take the kids to dinner himself, so that I can go with my friend for a girls night out. My question is...What would be a good TS restaurant to send him too since it would be just him with 2 little ones? (I admit, as a SAHM and primary caregiver, I am nervous about his ability to handle them both alone)

I have offered to take them to a counter service restaurant and bring them back to the hotel so he will just have to watch them in the room but he really seems to want to take them out...maybe he wants the adventure or is out to prove he can handle them :confused3 Since he insists on taking them out, I do want to help set him up for sucess so any restaurant suggestions would be appricaited!!!

***On a side note, my GF has offered to watch the kids one night so DH and I can have some alone time and we were thinking of going to dinner. Any restaurant recomendations for our special time alone would be appreciated as well...

My first recommendation is probably avoid a buffet. Personally I have done it many times with my young DDs alone, but my guess is my DH would have a hard time handling getting plates, getting his food, watching the kids while up from the table, etc. So I'd suggest a TS that is fairly casual and where there is food your kids will eat.

Are you looking for parks? Or resorts? Maybe LTT or Plaza at MK? LTT seems to be one of the few non-buffet char meals. Plaza should have things most kids eat, plus ice cream for dessert. Or how about a sit down in your resort (assuming there is one where you are staying)? Then he won't have to deal with trans.

If you give me an idea of location, I might be able to offer more suggestions. JJ

Since your staying at BWV you all could walk down to ESPN together and DH and take the kids in ESPN to eat. ESPN has lot's of TV's and if the kids do melt down it's noisy enough no one will care and if he needed to he would be close to the resort. Then you and your friend could walk through the international gateway and end up right there in France.

I would suggest Garden Grill. It's a plated character meal in the Land Pavillion. The kids would be entertained by Mickey, Chip & Dale, and Pluto, but your husband wouldn't have to go up to a buffet to get the food. It would be close to your hotel and you would all be in Epcot in case something came up and you were needed. We took DD to this restaurant on our last trip when she was 18 mo. old and it was a great character meal experience! The characters came around 5 or 6 times each.

I was thinking the same thing as the previous posters. Characters (Dad=hero), but not a buffet. Liberty Tree Tavern or Garden Grill. Given your location Garden Grill would be a good choice.

For your special meal - I'd pick Flying Fish @ Boardwalk or if Hubby is a steak and Football fan (esp. Dolphins) Shulas (sp) is a good non-child choice. With these choices you would be close to home (BWV) if your children or friend needed you.

Have a great time. A night out for the girls and one w/ your DH, nice! :thumbsup2

Since you at the boardwalk, what about beaches and cream? EAsy and simple and then he could push them around the board walk. If he is up to taking them to the park alone, of you could all go over together and then split to eat, I like Garden Grill.

When DS was that little I would never have sent them to ESPN alone. IF your DH is like most men he might get so caught up in the games that he FORGETS the kidos.

My thought would be for Whispering Canyon Cafe. The extra noise the kids might create would not be noticeable and there is enought to keep them out of trouble. NBot a buffet, and no characters, but lots of fun and games.
