Watch the afternoon news today and it was reported that as of today 1,999 troops have been killed in Iraq. It just makes me sick. I just want them all home. Enough already.

And may God hold each and every one of them and their families in the palm of His hand. I am eternally grateful to them for giving the ultimate sacrifice so I can be free in the greatest nation in the world.

I, too, am grateful to them and their families for their service. However, I believe I was free before they went and would be free still had they not gone.

I agree, enough is enough. My son is on his second tour in Iraq. This is very difficult for us, but just imagine what our soldiers are going through. Within days of arriving in Iraq, some of my son's unit were already hearing grumblings from home about money problems, infidelity and divorce. They have to bear the problems of a hostile country while fearing what may or may not be happening in their own homes. DIL is a precious young woman and I'm so glad to have her in my son's and our whole family's life. Pray that this conflict will come to a definite close and our troops will be returned home. Pray for their families, finances and homes to return to. Pray for their strength until they come home.

It's not always about our freedom; often the fight is for someone else.

Awesome statement, Adam!!

I just don't understand how people can't support what the people in the military have CHOSEN to do. Everyone that signs there name on the dotted line knows that there is a possibility of war. Since September 11, my husband has been away from home for 30 months, either at his base, 2 hours from home, or overseas. He will be headed back in May 2006.

I agree 100%. But many people (our politicians included) see the Iraq war as a fight for our freedom. I don't.

OP, you might want to edit your title, there is one more extra 9, made it sound like ALOT more.

I wish all of their families peace, and may they find some closure. :grouphug:

*** is that supposed to mean? She said her dh was going back to WAR that day, not coming home. We military wives understand that it's part of their job. We don't like it, we just understand it. I hope you weren't trying to say what I think you were, but reading your other posts on this board, I am sure you were. Karma is a PITA. If you don't want the military protecting you and the other people in the world, move to another country.

What the heck kind of statement is that? I think she would understand if he had to be there longer than anticipated, that's what supporting spouses do. Geez, did you have to rude to someone who DOES understand?????

I support their right to join the military. I just don't support spending over $300 billion on a war that has done little to decrease the threat of terrorism we face (and if anything INCREASE terrorism in Iraq.) And that isn't the fault of those in our military; they are just following their orders.

We, to my understanding, didn't go to war in Iraq for the people of Iraq; we went because Iraq was a big threat to us because of the WMD's and weapons programs they supposedly had.

I hope that this conflict will end, but I heard a few weeks ago Condaleeza Rice said we may be in Iraq for the next 10 years... :confused3
