1/6/2007 Early Roll Call...Anyone Else Going???

We are leaving early, early Thursday morning (4:00AM from our house) for WDW. Last year we did the same thing and my DD was up in 2 seconds and ready to go so I know I don't have to worry about her getting up, I'm just worried that I won't hear my alarm.

We are getting so excited... :woohoo:

We have Disney transportation from Caribbean Beach Resort to Port so not sure what time we will be on the boat...hopefully not too late. I've read the buses make late stops at the hotels... Has anyone taken one of the Disney cruise Line buses from WDW to Port?

We are really looking forward to this vacation... :)

I know I'm very late getting on here but we'll be on this cruise as well, myself, my DH, DD4 and DS3. Its our 4th cruise, 1st Disney cruise & 1st one with the kids. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. Barely slept at all last night, I think I spent the whole night mentally packing. I've been learning so much from these boards and I can't wait to get on the ship & start having fun!!

Hey everyone - have a wonderful cruise!! Wish I was still there (cruised the Dec Double Dip). I did regret not buying a shirt that I saw - if anyone thinks they'll be shopping and could do a quick look for me, please pm me. Otherwise - have an AWESOME trip!! Diana

We are very late getting aboard this discussion, but WE CAN'T WAIT! Only a few days.... We are first time Cruisers 34 and 29 and our kids are 9(D) and 5(S). Looking forward to fun in the sun, and my son can't wait for Pirates Night! The only concern my wife and I have right now is the game on Monday night. Hopefully we will be able to catch it so we can see the Buckeyes win another National Championship! See you all in a few days and GO BUCKS!

Just a reminder that we have a meet :grouphug: scheduled for Saturday, Jan 6 at 2:30pm in the Promenade Lounge. See you all there real soon! Can't wait!:rotfl:

Thanks for the reminder. I was just going to scroll through pages of posts to see when it was. Hope to be there!

Mike

I just found out that the DCL bus won't be at our hotel until 12:30. Does anybody know how long it takes to check-in at about 1:30ish? Will we be on the boat for the 2:30 meet? I hope we will be.

Also, DH wants to make a massage appt...I hope he gets it.

we are 2 days from the wedding and 3 days to cruising.

my mom is here helping and my girlfriends have been great with that, too. the final touches are being put on the pirate costumes, after some true horror sewing stories. we are trying to make things fits into suitcases and making frangelico biscotti to munch on during hair and make up friday morning. passporters still need to be filled out and oh, did i tell you, my ring isn't set yet. we'll see how that goes, i guess that's what you get for ordering in OCTOBER!

can't wait to meet you all!!!

I had such a wonderful time on the cruise!!

I must have missed the meet. I was in Promenade Lounge at 2:30, but didn't see anyone else.

Yay, Table 62!!

Just got home ....it's 10:45 PM..... We had sooooo much fun. We are already planning for the Western next year...

Hope everyone else had a great time too.

Sad this trip is over  , but glad to plan the next one....:yay:

Oh, we're soooo sad our vacation has come to an end:sad:

I didn't see the post before we left about meeting in the promenade lounge... I thought it was in the terminal, so i kept looking for a group of people.

We had an amazing dining staff this time (yeah, table 61 late~ Steve & Jonathan). The food was far superior than I remember in previous DCL cruises, although it's alwasy been great! My favorite was Palo. We've never done that before, and it's the best! Still didn't find a "Martini flight" but we did the martini tasting. Yummy! I think the host was getting a bit tipsy from drinking them. Their cosmopolitans were the best I've ever tasted. The chocolate martini was divine. :thumbsup2 Help, I'm having withdrawls :crazy2:

Did anyone else's kids get a little sea sick from the rough seas? Do you think it's standard to be that rough? We're debating on going on the Western one again, since the last western one we went on was re-directed & we didn't get to go to Cozumel. Anyone been on both and can give us their opinion of which is better? We could have done without going into St. Marteen.... the one stop we made in the French part of the island we had to pay $1 to use the restroom!

On the way back from Port to WDW, we had this crazy cruise line bus driver.... new on the job apparently. Anyone else on that bus?

High Ho, High Ho....it's back to work I go... Laundry x 4 :laundy:

According to the 2nd officer of engineering that came out to the Making of the Magic Q&A, the seas were at a 5 out of 10. One of our tablemates was so seasick that we only saw her Saturday night and then Friday night! I felt so bad for her.

Regarding the ports, I far preferred St Maarten to St Thomas. We took a public bus over to the French side of St Martin, and wandered around a lot. It was great seeing the kids getting out from school and getting a feel for the island and local culture. We took the bus back, dropped stuff off on the ship, then went back out and strolled around on the Dutch side. I found that St Maarten/St Martin felt much more like a real place where people actually go about their daily life, as opposed to the flea market feel of St Thomas. The one cool little place we found in St Thomas was an old mall down a small alley with a coffee shop/internet cafe and some art galleries.

Were you on one of the excursions? If so, which one?

The cruise was a great introduction to cruising for me, and I can't wait to go on the next one. I wish I could swing the transatlantic cruise this summer, but unfortunately, I'm all out of DVC points at this time.

I did add 50 more though!! :cheer2:

LWQuestie, I was at that Q&A session too!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the meet. :sad2: It was long before we could take a shuttle at Budget so at the time of the meet, we were eating in Topsiders.

I did talk to akamaleficent at Till We Meet Again. NYAna, I saw you and your DH a couple of time but never got to talk to you, I'm sorry about that.

As for the others, I don't know if I saw you or not, probably did.

In the next few days, I will tell you more about our trip and post pictures as well. Maybe you will see yourself in them, who knows?

For the time being, I'll try to get a little sleep before going back to work tomorrow morning! :scared:

Hi everyone!

I feel the same way! I miss the ship! I miss our tablemates (from Canada), I miss having my dinner made and served for me, and I miss having my bed made and my towel picked up for me!

I met only of us from the board, Akamaleficent! I was so thrilled to meet you and your hubby! Congrats again! And thanks for letting me join you during martinis. We went to the 2nd martini tasting and didn't get the cosmo or the green apple or the chocolate. We got the harsh tasting traditional alcohol ones (lemontini, passiontini, cucoa, and one with burbon-icky to me, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them).

We preferred St. Thomas to St. Maarten, I think only because of the excursions. We loved our St. Thomas excursion (Doubloon and Snorkel tour) that we did with akamaleficent and hubby and the Marchands (met them, too-sorry!). I would do that again and again! So much fun and such good punch!

Tried to book another cruise, but all the suites were gone until April of 08 so I waitlisted for Nov. 08 on either the Western or the Eastern. Although I would love to cruise again sooner, it isn't worth it to use your points for a suite, plus we spent too much $$$$$ on all that art we bought! My house will look great though!

All the best everyone and thanks for a Magical cruise! :wave2: I enjoyed the company online while we were all waiting!:grouphug:

we also had a wonderful time and i plan on writing out a trip report and some tips we gathered onboard within the next few days. we extended our honeymoon to our last day at home before having to go to work/school and opened our gifts while drinking champagne a good friend left in our fridge as a welcome home gift.

we also enjoyed the doubloon sail, partly due to the great crew and the great company, tinkerbellmom and the marchands, partly due to the punch too i guess!! we also did the beach bash and that was only okay, but not an expensive excursion so okay was alright with us. i did feel the rough seas quite a but on monday and was in and out of the cabin resting a lot until DH went to the health center and got me their motion meds. much better the the sea bands, dramamine, and bonine i had taken and was feeling pretty good by dinner time. the seas were almost as rough on thurs and since i took their stuff at the beginning of the day, i was great all day.

we loved the shows, the food, palo brunch being my favorite, and our dinner mates were fun too. our servers were okay, they did a good job but we didn't fall in love them. i think it might have had to do with the general age of our table. everone else was inbetween the ages of 16-21 and i think maybe they focused on the tables with their parents at them.

serenity beach at castway key was totally worth it, we had a great time lounging there and caught the 2 for 1 bahama mama special on the way off the island.

we spent tons of money on pictures, but it was worth it b/c they were great.

i am currently typing this out on my new macbook pro that came in the mail while we were gone. this is very exciting for me and as soon as i get things squared away with it and learn what i need to know i will post some pictures. we got great ones with our award-winning pirate costumes and lots of pirate characters.

glad to meet the people did, and hope everyone had the magical time that we did.

Wow, you're St. Marteen adventure sounded better than ours! I know the people & staff that are on the tour make such a difference. We took a bus around the island & the little submarine. (See & Sea tour, I think it's called). Anyhow, the fish were just a few different kinds, nothing spectacular. The little mall we stopped at 1/2 way in between was nothing special, although I did find some cologne for my DH. We probably should have done something a little more adventurous. On St. Thomas...we went over to St. Johns and did the Trunk Bay snorkel. That was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The time there was short, but enough to enjoy what it had to offer.

Anyone been on both the West & the East? is it too hard to compare/choose?
