1/6/2007 Early Roll Call...Anyone Else Going???

Ack! Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in--Fall is crazy here with dh's work, school, kids, and what seems to be a million projects looming. And our Magic cruise has seemed so far off until now--we pay the balance next week and can finally make our reservations  So now it seems "real" :wizard:

For excursions we are also thinking Coral World/Coki and Butterfly Farm, at least for me and dd. DH and ds are snorkeling and possibly looking at Golden Eagle Catamaran and/or Doubloon sail and snorkel (I am not a snorkeler ;). We need to figure it all out this week.

Dh and I are thinking of doing Palo brunch but not dinner--is it really that great? We have been to our share of nice restaurants and can go anytime we want in DC--but is Palo's for dinner really a "not-to-be-missed" experience? I need convincing...

We are planning to do some form of pirate get-up, but maybe not the full enchilada. The kids are very excited pirate:

Captain Jack--thank you so much for organizing the meeting and the online photo album. I will email you pics of the family this week, including a shot of ds at WDW with full pirate sneer and mickey hat :thumbsup2

We are looking forward to meeting you all in January!!

Soleilmagie,

The decorations should still be up, at least for the first couple of days that you are at the parks. I think the Osborne lights at MGM are usually lit through about Jan 5th.

I'm not sure when the prices will go up, but once you buy your tickets, they're yours, and you don't have to pay the difference when you get there.

We're also booked for Weds night dinner at Palo. We've had dinner there about four times now and have never been disappointed. I've never had the brunch there, so I'm really looking forward to that, too. I know it's booked, just don't remember exactly when.

I think I've already posted this, but we are going both before (arriving on January 1st) and after (leaving on the 14th), both times staying at the All-Star Music. I've never been to WDW at that time of year, so I can't wait to see the decorations (at least what's left!)... :santa:

Does anyone know if the ticket rates are going up in January? And if they do, if you buy a pass now, do you pay the difference when you get there?
Soleilmagie, So sorry. I do remember now that you did mention that you would be going to the parks on this trip. We haven't decided on which hotel to stay at yet. I know I better get on the ball with that really quick.

Don't worry NYAna! It is ok to start talking about it again. Many more have joined us since, it's not like it's just the two of us, right?

Anyone?

Hey Soleilmagie and NYAna (and everyone else)! :Pinkbounc

I just finished tweaking our reservations and am getting ready to book excursions when we pay the balance on Monday

We are also going to be at the parks for a few days before sailing--we leave DC for FLA on Jan 3rd and plan to do a whirlwind of Animal Kingdom/MGM on Thur and Magic Kingdom on Fri. We got a great AAA rate at CBR if you were thinking of staying there, NYAna.

Maybe some of us can hook up to say hi on our park days? :wizard:

I agree with SurfnTurf about AAA rates. But you do have to book soon because on the last night, we could'nt have a standard room, only preferred (but it was still better than the regular rate!).

I'm still trying to decide which park to do when... We're thinking about doing the character buffet at the Crystal Palace since Pooh and friends aren't on the boat. As anyone been there before? How is it? The only character meal I've been to in WDW was at the Garden Grill, but that was before the kids. pooh: :eeyore: :tigger:

Hi Soleilmagie!

At our only other time at WDW we went to the Donald Breakfastasaurus character meal at AK--very good and 4 yo ds loved it. The characters were Donald, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto. I've heard the Crystal Palace meal is very nice, esp good for younger kids (and Pooh fans!) I'm sure it will be great! pooh:

We have done the Pooh & Friends Breakfast at the Crystal Palace, the Breakfast with Chef Mickey at the Contemporary Resort, and the Breakfast with the Disney Princesses in Epcot. The girls always wanted to do the Breakfast with the Disney Princesses in the Castle in the Magic Kingdom, but we could never get a reservation.

The breakfast with Pooh was really good and the girls really enjoyed it. I think that they were around 5 when we went to that one.

Make sure you buy an autograph book and pen at a Wal-Mart before you go to the park as they are much cheaper at Wal-Mart than any place near the park.

my absolute favorite character breakfast is at 1900 park fare in the grand floridian. they have the pooh characters and english characters, mary poppins, alice and the mad hatter are always there! the best part is strawberry soup, it's sounds crazy but totally addictive. i've made it at home and it's never quite the same. perhaps b/c when you're there you may convince yourself mary popiins made it just for you.

last year we were there for marathon weekend, which is the weekend we all leave for the cruise, and all the deacorations were still up, though i think the gingerbread houses at the grand floridian may have been taken down. the decor was great for the first couple of days but we were a little relieved on our last day there to hear something other than christmas music when they officially ended the christmas celebration. i think we left on the monday or tues immediatly following marathon weekend.

my sister will be doing the marathon again this year, it will be her second time so we'll have to send pixie dust from the boat on that day, i think it's sunday.

I had never heard of that one before. Pooh and Mary Poppins at the Grand Floridian, I think that could be a winner! Thanks for the tip akamaleficent! pooh:

CaptainJack, I sent you a picture of my family for the virtual cruise album.

Does anybody know when the character breakfast is on the Magic? I'm guessing it's during our at sea days, which is when I booked our brunch and a spa treatment. I may try to reschedule the spa treatment now so we don't risk missing out on the breakfast. My kids (especially DD) are looking forward to that.)

It sounds like Weds will be DIS night at Palo. We're eating there that night too!

Quote from lbgraves:

Normally the CB is on the first sea day after you eat in AP. [...] The early seating is 8:15 & the late seating is at 9:45. If you have late seating, I would suggest that you allow an hour for the CB. It takes that long for the 5 characters to come around to your table. (There are 6 characters but you either get Chip or Dale since they are busy dancing for part of the time.) It really isn't about the food at the CB, it isn't that great so you can have breakfast earlier at TS & just enjoy the party atmosphere at the CB.

If we have the APL rotation, like on our first cruise, we will have our character breakfast on Sunday morning!

Seems like it's time to start a new topic before this thread falls on page 2 again... :rolleyes1

Ok, are you ready for formal and semi-formal night? We waited for sales : I bought dresses for me and DD in last winter's sales, DBF got a suit and shoes in the end of summer sales and I found a tie and shirt for DS recently, also on sale. Now I just need to find nice pants for DS.

I'm also getting worried about luggage. I usually travel light, but with formal, semi-formal and pirate attire, I'm a little afraid... I'm sure glad I don't have to worry about baby stuff like last time : diapers for DD, sippy cups for the evening and that will be it... no more baby food, plates, spoons or blankets anymore!

No replies after 24 hrs? Where is everyone this week-end? :confused3

I hope everyone had fun and that those who are in school could take a little time off homework and studying! :teacher:

Hi Soleilmagie, this vacation has been in my thoughts now more then ever! I've been so busy with school and work and studying for my tests. It's really hard only having Sunday's as my day off (although it really isn't because I study like an animal).

I haven't bought anything yet for the dinners on the cruise but I have bought a disney dress and matching shoes (too cute) and I got my DH the matching shirt! We've never worn anything matching like that in our 7 years of marriage. Ha ha.

Next month I plan to purchase the pirate costumes. My friend Yhey (pronounced Jay) already bought a captain hook costume for her 1 1/2 old son and a Davy Jones costume (scary) for her DH.:scared1:

Just finished typing a paper that's due tomorrow, so I feel for you NYAna.

My boys both picked out the zombie/skeleton pirates for their Halloween costumes, so they'll be bringing them on the cruise. I'm hoping to pick up some for DW, DD, and myself at the after Halloween sales.

Here's a picture of my whole family, including my Mom and Dad, on our cruise last January. Like the matching outfits?

Hi cruisin'Mike, I am tired of studying but I know it will pay off at the end. What are you studying?

Great picture. It must of been fun having everyone where matching clothes.
