1/3/09 Magic - First Time To St. Croix

Okay, so we are getting a group together... and we can work out the logistics as the list grows and completes itself.... after I mentioned the idea of updates every so often.... really we can look on this specific board and see who is going...

But we need a theme name.... I think it should have something to do with St. Croix as the maiden voyage and the Magic or the Mouse...

anyone a great thinker of these kinds of things? I am very good at computer graphics and have fun making magnets for our door every cruise.

I don't know if I can get the honor of making our magnet(s) to pass around... but I really like this idea however we decide to do it... whether all at once or pass around like a hot potato.

I think the explanation the second time with the pretend people was really cool and made more sense... and it may depend as someone said... on how many families participate.

I would hate to see any Disboarders not be able to enjoy this just because they aren't the early planners we all are!

I have seen FE's (now I know what that abbrev. is! ) and think I can come up with something cute for our cabin fish....

Also, if we can come up with a name... I could come up with a design we could all print off and put on the pocket of a shirt or on the leg of a pair of shorts to identify ourselves... would be great for the pic on the steps of the stage by the Goofy pool as was also mentioned earlier.

I am just soooo excited!!!! and having days at sea we could divide the giving into 2 waves... 1 wave on the days at sea to St. Croix.. and 1 wave on the days at sea back.... so we don't have to worry about gift giving on the days at St. Croix and St. Thomas.... just my 2 cents as we will be worn out from the fun we will be having but ready for gifts again when the days at sea return...

Ideas anyone???

The best first day photo of a DISMeet was at the Goofy pool on the steps of the stage. We could get a good look at everyone. I'll find the photo and post it.

Oh that's a great idea, getting a snap on the steps....hey I wonder if we could convince the wandering photographers to take a snap with ALL of us in the picture. Then we could just buy the photo at Shutters! But I know....folks will want their *own* copy of the picture. Maybe we can at least hijack a cast member to take the 20-60 pictures with everyone's camera.

Okay Dis veterans... where do you stay the night before the cruise???

We are driving down and want to stay overnite to get an early start on cruise day... but I would like a place that all 4 of us will be cozy in and will let us leave our van there while we are cruising to avoid the $15.00 charge/day now by DCL... any ideas?

No idea on cabin number yet but we have ressies for Cat 9 on Deck 2 for 4 with a window view.

Also my DH and I will be post celebration of our 15 wedding anniversary!

We can make it "official" and it will be part of the celebration! It's going on the list.

I love the link to pics of what loot others have gotten... gives me great ideas.

It does give one some good ideas to think about.

I would love to make the magnet for the top of the door when we decide on our logo for this cruise... have we had any ideas yet?

I also like that there may only be 20 or 25 families as this makes it easier to make really fun gifts versus 50 or 100 families when it is hard to get great gifts for everyone.

Yeah, 50+ would just be too many to financially deal with (Hey I've got boat drinks to buy ya know!) and the time involved with delivery would be too big a chunk out of my time in paradise. And we all know it is all about me!

So once we get our initial list in... can we circulate it so we can start thinking of ideas? Then once every couple months our great master list holder can send out updated info with the new families in a different color or something???? just wondering as this will give me something to do while I am jumping up and down with excitement to be on this cruise.

I can tell you this, we already have peanuts, peanut*butter*, alcohol, apples, pears, melons, mushrooms, oats, and nickel as allergies to deal with so far. So be careful with any candy you might be contemplating.

When you post our lists.... can you tell us who is allergic to what? That way if kids don't have an allergy they may get candy or chocolate with nuts but we can give other cute stuff us adult kids would like to those with other allergies... sounds like someone won't get to have drinks at Cove Cafe... good thing they have alcohol free coffee and such!

I personally will be looking to save all the $$$ I can as well for drinks at Cove Cafe... love having personal service and a nice view and meet lots of people... esp since I will now know several families from here!!!!

I'm making up the spread sheet and I thought I'd let you know what info I need so when you say you "are in" you will know what info to give!

I will need:

1. DIS user name
2. real name for you and spousal unit
3. cabin # participating (if more than one cabin participating ie. parents/kids both/all cabin numbers)
4. total number in party
5. number of kids
6. ages of kids
7. allergies anyone in party suffers. Don't want anyone getting food they can't eat! Don't want anyone sick!!
8. and just for fun...anything special you are celebrating on board. (Anniversary, birthday, graduation, parole ...)

okay, that is all.....

Diane, I wonder if we could add who is your favorite Disney character and why? I have asked my kids and hubby that... and just think it would be cool to know that when making stuff for a Disney cruise...

Or would it be better to make a quick Q & A that we PM each person and they send it back so we can get that info added to our data base to send out before cruise time. Anyone we may be stuck on getting something for due to age or whatever could be solved by learning they like Ariel and no other princess.. or they like Pluto so we can do something special for that persons birthday or whatever.

Just an idea that I would love to hear feedback on!

of course this was for a May 5 cruise and they called it

Cinco Dis Mayo... catchy but also you know when the cruise was....

Can we think of something that is catchy and says something about us? Just trying to find ideas for us!

The person that I posted the Mickey head of Cinco de Mayo cruise from is sending me the stuff she made and suggetions on how to get transfers to stick better and more long lasting.

I love screenprinted shirts but they are pricey after paying for the plate fee... it would be nice to find some semi-professional stuff to make transfers out of for us each to make our own shirts/shorts with whatever logo and design we decide on.

Anyone have success with this more than I have? I have used the dark shirt transfers and they are a mite tricky... and the regular transfers get rough and don't look "nice" after a few washings... maybe an applique is the way to go.

Whatever we do it will be fun once we are on the boat... that is the ultimate destination anyway right???

Hmmm...shirts you say??? The gym where I work is in the process of purchasing a shirt press for our own use...our owner-who just happens to be coming on this cruise -is tired of having to pay to have somebody screen the copious amounts of shirts we go through. I wonder what's involved in getting a logo onto a transfer...
ALSO, our former office manager left to open her own custom embroidery shop...I just happened to see a listing on ebay of DCL patterns, and sent it to her. She bought it, so if we want anything done embroidery wise, I can hook you up there too!
