1-3-04 - Western - Days 6 and 7 and disembark.

Day 6 at Sea. We had rough seas at night while sleeping. We really enjoyed it - felt like we were in a cradle. I guess some guests did not like it as well and were queasy, etc… We ate at Topsiders then split up to do our own things. My DD went to the stack and was gone all day. My DS learned how to make towel animals. We did towel and napkin folding, galley tour, went to the Seafood buffet. The buffet was a dissapointment to me. I had really looked forward to eat. The seafood was crab claws on ice that were still frozen in the middle - it was like eating crab popsicles. The baked mussels were lukewarm. The sushi was a mushy mess. There was a good baby shrimp salad. The clam chowder was good. I mainly at the beef stroganoff at the seafood buffet! Still finding it hard to get drinks in a timely manner and good luck on refills… We went to play bingo and just about won (we only had one more to go). My DS was bummed that we didn’t win the jackpot. We went to Disney Dreams then on to dinner. It was semiformal night so we dressed up again and had photos taken. At dinner I had the lobster tail (great) and the chocolate lava cake for dessert (yes!!). Shorty after dinner the dessert buffet started and I couldn’t eat a thing. I took some photos of the great set up. I am starting to wonder if late dining is the way to go. The Mexicali buffet and the dessert buffet I couldn’t even eat because I had just had dinner. We were tired and turned around midnight thinking about Castaway Cay!

Day 7 Castaway Cay. We awoke once again to perfect weather!! DD slept in my DS and I got off the boat immediately and got great beachfront lounges and an umbrella. We decided to go back to the boat to get our fins and luckily found Nancy to hang out at lounges. We had front row seats right in front of the snorkel trail so it pays to get out early. My DS had photos taken with lots of characters and had many sign his autograph book. We walked down to the bike path just to see it. We were thirsty and found free fruit punch by Cookies Bar B Q. Nancy decided to snorkel - she said the water was cold, but you get used to it. DD finally showed up in time for lunch. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, coleslaw, banana bread and pineapple upside down cake - one of my favorites. There was fruit punch to drink. Then cookie dough icecream for dessert as well. We then went back to our lounges. The kids snorkeled briefly - they were cold. Nancy went to the adult beach. She said the water was calmer (no kids kicking up sand) and the snorkeling was better. She saw a huge starfish and a big stingray. We did more character photos and signings by the gang plank then went on board. We had stayed until the end. Hard to believe it was over already! We skipped the disembarkation talk since we knew it would replay later - we did watch it later and it worked out fine. We went to the variety show which was just okay. We had a great dinner (It’s a Small World Menu). The servers put on quite a show. We gave out our tips. We then went to pack quickly - our bags needed to be out between 9 and 11. We went to the Oceaneer Club to turn in our beeper. DS got a cool hat for free from the club. We were scheduled for second seating (one advantage of late dining) at 8:00 in the morning. We sadly went to bed.

Day 8 Woke up in the morning already at Port Canaveral. We went to breakfast with our servers for the last time. The kids were hugging them and about to cry. We sadly walked off of the ship and retrieved our suitcases very quickly. We turned them into American Airlines and got on the bus. Our cruise was over - how could this be??!! We were already thinking of ways to save money for the next cruise…
