1/22/2006 Roll Call for Wonder Cruisers

Karin,
Check out this site. http://www.shindigz.com. They have some really reasonable costumes. I just typed in pirate under the search area. The girl one is pretty cute and it is only $7. Joe doesn't like the boys "muscle pirate" that is $6 but they do have one for $13 that he likes but they are out of the 4-6 for boys in the one he likes. I am not sure if I could take in the size 8 or not. I think the shipping is only like $5.95 for up to $25 which would easily cover both costumes. I have been looking for one of those white ruffled "poet" shirts to wear for myself with a black skirt or pants then put a belt anf scarf with it. Still looking for DH, but he informed me it has to be a good costume or he won't wear it because he doesn't want to look STUPID... LOL

Well, where's the fun in that?!?!?!? :rotfl:

Seriously, Alvaro's whole family will be dressed up, so Keith and I are looking. I was thinking about going to the costume rental place in Denver. I used them many years ago for a flapper/20's pinstriped suit set for a party, and they were awesome! I'd called them for the May cruise, and since it wasn't a big costume season, they were gonna let us take them for the whole 3 weeks....just glad I didn't have those to deal with too. Had WAY MORE than enough as it was!!!!!!! :guilty:

I'll find the place some people used in May, but the prices aren't anywhere near the ones you found!!!

I looked at this site! Your kids would be absolutely adorable in those costumes! It's been my experience that kids costumes run small. You probably wouldn't have to do much but shorten the pants and take in a few side seams. I've been wondering if I should buy something other than a costume for myself--ruffled piratey shirts seem to be in. But I think I might just buy a costume to make it easier on myself--though it's becoming more complicated!

My DH nixed a lot of costumes I showed him. He didn't say so, but I'm sure he didn't want to look stupid either!

I think that is so funny. We should all just get together and buy costumes for all DH and tell them "shut up and wear them"!!!
:teeth: Like I said, I am just wearing one of those ruffled poet shirts. You are right, they seem to be "in". I bought one at our Pamida (like walmart) on clearance sale! Guess they haven't caught on here yet! I will just get a black skirt and scarf and some accessories.

I know Kelli. I think our normal 2 suitcases for the 4 of us might not be enough this time. The kids might each need one of their own with the costumes, jackets and everything. Oh well, I just hope they all fits in the trunk of a rental car to port.
I do think I will mail down the sand toys to the port and maybe the costumes. I did just rent booster seats instead of dragging our along and taking up luggage allowance. I just hate paying $9 day * 2 days when they cost about that much to just buy them. Oh well.

We are having more snow again today. All of the schools/preschools are closed. They are predicting another 5 inches on top of what we already have plus it was -12 degrees yesterday morning. :cold:

You go, ladies!

Michael

pirate: I bit the bullet and just ordered all of our costumes. I think DH is relieved that he won't have to sit and look at a ton of costume websites!

I spent more than I probably needed to, but I saved about $60 by convincing my DS that he didn't need the costume he really wanted (it was expensive and didn't even come with a hat!).

So we are now officially ready for pirate night!

GREAT pirate name site!

Michael

So? What's your name? I did it again and it came up with Mad Bess Roberts. Guess I'm hopeless....

I'd rather be mad than dirty! I was Dirty Mary Rackham. :rotfl2:

I'm going to change my answers a little and see what happens.

OK.....I am neither mad nor dirty, I am captain Jenny cash. Sounds like Johnny cash. I don't know if that is good or not :flower:
I ordered Joe and Leah's costumes today but am still contemplating DH's. HHmmmmmm. Should I make him look silly or scary? :confused3

Decisions, Decisions. Or do I want him mad at me. :rotfl2:

Thanks Kelli, that was a cool website.

I'm so embarrased.... Calico Bonney William. I think I'm going to send the pirate costumes back.

How cute...you're a "nice" pirate. Well, you won't be scary anyway! :rotfl:

Thank you Michael! I needed a good laugh--this will keep me chuckling all day long!

I opted for Jack Sparrow for DH--I went the "rustic" way for the kids too. Good luck with your decision! I will not even offer you advice on this one! Whatever you do, you should probably wait to spring your choice on him AFTER the holidays!

And all I can say is that my day went downhill from there!!!

In all seriousness, I'm really looking forward to meeting you all once we get on board.

Karin, the family looks great!

BTW, sorely disappointed in our flights to MCO. We planned and planned on taking Song, booking months ago. Well, Song is no longer operating the flight we were on, Delta has taken it. We've gone from row 9 to row 38. I'm thinking this can only be cured by running away to D'land over the weekend, my OTHER escape. After a day with the mouse, how can one NOT smile!

Yours in piracy...
Calico Bonney William

Well Calico, oops! Bonney, er WILLIAM!!! WILLIAM!!! Yeah, that's it! WILLIAM!!! Anyway, what I was GOING to say was this:I'd check to see how Delta does their exit aisle seating! Maybe you could get one of those and be more comfy!

Btw, we took United to CA, and they charge an additional $30 per seat, per flight (talking roundtrip here) for any coach class seat from the exit aisles forward. We opted for it for this trip because my brother and my nephew are both over 6' and fairly wide, too. Keith and I got them, too, so those two didn't get better seats than we did.....anyway, just an FYI.

Ok, I'll admit it. I have been chuckling all evening over everybodys pirate names. Anyway after volunteering my house for my sisters son's b-day party with all the family here along with babysitting today and my own kids, it was nice to chuckle a bit!! :flower:

It is so hard to believe that Christmas is just a bit over 2 weeks then off to New York for a week then here for about 10 days then FLORIDA. WOO HOO!
:Pinkbounc

Karin,
What a great picture and nice looking family. I showed your pic to Joe and Leah and told them that you were the one that sent them the pins. I also told them that we will be having our dining together. They are getting pretty excited..... so excited that they have hardly been talking about going to New York for a week with DH family. Oh well. I guess the big apple just isn't as appealing to kids as the mouse! Joe keeps telling everyone that you can just snap your fingers and get ice cream or pizza or whatever. I hope he's not disappointed! :teeth:

Amanda..where are you??????????
