We are booked on the January 22, 2006 four day Wonder cruise. I will be sailing with DH and DD (age 13 at that time). Anyone else out there?

:disrocks:

Sorry Mickey Minder but you're going to have to share the ship with us... will be DW, DD-14, DS-11 and myself.

I am soooo happy. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
Have you cruised with the mouse before? Our kids are about the same age. This is going to be awesome. Let the planning begin.

Cool!!! You can take the starboard side of the ship and we'll take the port side... :rotfl:

We've only been to one cruise before, and it was with Carnival a couple of years ago. First time on a Disney cruise. We were given a "guaranteed" Cat 12... do you know what does that mean? Why were not given a cabin #?

Well, I'm glad we finally "made contact" with someone who's going to be there next Jan... and someone *experienced* ... be prepared to answer a LOT of questions in the next few months... :earboy2:

My kids really enjoyed the CampCarnival... did not at the beginning but by the 3rd day we could hardly get a hold of them... disappeared most of the day... we made sure they would meet us for lunch and dinner!

Your GTY means that you are guaranteed at least a cat 12. The cabin number will be on your docs that are sent about three weeks before the cruise. They typically sale off the cat 12 at a discounted rate or open it up to employees etc. at the last minute. That puts in a good position for an upgrade at no cost. We booked on board last year. We will be in 8086, the same cat 3 we were in then. The children's program's start the evening of embarkation, right after the sail away party. They are busy all the time. The clubs open at about 7 a.m. and close at midnight to 1:00 a.m. They will have a great time. My DD will be old enough for the Stack this year. The kids in the club spent some time there and it looked pretty cool. As for questions, ask away. :flower:

Not holding my breath on that, but it would be nice to get an upgrade. I guess cat 12 & 11 are basically the same, only difference is deck location.

My DD will be in the same group with your daughter, I think (13-17). DS will be in the 10-12 group. Like I said, we'll be lucky if we meet them for dinner...

Do they have formal nights on a 4-day cruise? I'm trying to figure out if we'll have to pack our "nice" clothes :goodvibes

And how about Pirate night? will we have one of those too? Again, I'm just trying to figure out if we'll have to pack aarrrgghhh nice clothes pirate:

pirate: yes
:groom: no
Will you be arriving the day before the cruise? We will fly in the day before and plan to stay probably two days after. I want to take DD to NASA again and maybe do Universal Studios. We've been to Disney before and would like to do something different. Yeah, the kids like to do their own thing. They don't even need to see us for money on the ship - a scary thought. My DD thought her KTTW card was the coolest thing in the world. It's amazing, with that little card, you can get anything you want.

We'll be in Orlando the week before the cruise and guess will stay a couple of days after too. Will probably go to NASA again... haven't been there in a long time.

Favorite places for our children were the burguer restaurant and the ice cream machine... that and the play station room.

:wave2: Hi! We'll be there too! It will be me, dh, ds9, dd7, dd5 and MIL! Yay! :cool1: This will be our 2nd cruise but first one all together! My dh lucked out in 2002 and went with his Company and I went with the kids this past February. I can't wait to sail with my whole family together! :cool1:

We will hopefully be staying at AKL the day before and arriving at port around 11:30am on Sunday. We'll fly home on Thursday. Hoping for GREAT weather (anything over 70 is perfect for us in January!).

Welcome Karen... MickeyMinder's been trying to find out who else is going since February... 3 families so far!

This will be our firts cruise with Disney.... we're all very excited :Pinkbounc

AKL is a beautiful resort. We stayed there 2 nights in 2002... I believe.... loved the animals and the whole theming.

Well, maybe it will be an empty ship! :confused3 I'm sure more people will sign up!

Can't wait!

Karen, Welcome to the group. AKL is awesome. We stayed there for a week in 2002 and one night before the cruise in 2004. We loved it. However, I had DCL book the night before the cruise and they put us in the standard savanha view rooms instead of the delux. The only difference is the location. The standard view is almost an obstructed view. I would certainly make sure I was getting the delux room. I called them a few months ago and the rates for January were not out yet. We stayed near the port last year. I was convenient and nice to walk on the beach. The winters in West Viriginia are quite cold. We sailed in January on both of our trips. The weather was cool in Florida and hot on the islands, except CC which was too cold for us to swim, but many people did. It is the perfect time of year for us. Can't wait for more people to join us. :grouphug:

Hi all!
We just booked our cruise last week, and I have been reading posts since then, but I didn't register until yesterday. I rarely register on sites and even more rarely post or reply to messages, but I felt guilty reading this thread knowing that you didn't know who I was!

This will be our first cruise ever, and pretty much our first true family vacation. My husband said that we needed to splurge on the stateroom a little more than I normally would've done, so we are in a category 4. But with my tendency to any kind of motion sickness, I will be happy for the fresh air the verandah will give us.

We have a son who will be several weeks shy of his 8th birthday and a daughter who will have just turned 4. We've never been to Florida or the Bahamas, though we've traveled all over Europe and Asia and lived abroad as well. We will be doing a little sightseeing before the cruise, but we're planning to avoid WDW because we have annual passes to Disneyland, even though I know that they are different.

That's it in a nutshell. I can't guarantee that I will be posting much, if at all, but just know that I'm here. We are really looking forward to this, and I've already been researching (verging on mind overload) and dreaming about our trip!!

Karin

Karin. Welcome. It is so great to have everyone joining us. :cool1: You will not regret the veranda. It is so wonderful just to sit outside and enjoy the sights.

Hi Karin, good to have you around.

Mareda... It looks like we won't have the ship for ourselves :earboy2:

--San Diego-- It feels like it was in a previous life... I was stationed at the Navy base (32nd Street?) for about 2 months and then 1 month at the Amphibious base in Coronado Island... that was back in 1986... Loved San Diego!

Thanks for your welcome! Okay....so maybe I was initially wrong, and I will be posting more often, especially come December when the questions are bound to come up. I'm trying not to overdo this planning stuff. I just don't want to board the ship completely clueless. Actually the only day I want to have set is that first day. Our main mission is relaxation.

Do any of you make door signs? Is that something that only people on this board do? It would make the door more recognizable for the kids.

Back in the spring of 1986, I spent about three nights at the naval amphibious base with my college rowing team (we were here for the Crew Classic). Now how's that for a coincidence?! Coronado, in my opinion, is probably the nicest place in San Diego, with the best beaches.

Again, it was nice "meeting" you!
