My DH and I will be driving to WDW from North Carolina May 3, 2006 for an 11 day trip. We are looking for a campground 1/2 way between Hendersonville, NC and WDW. We are wanting to leave after work on Tues. and drive for about 5-6 hours, just to break up the drive. Towing the camper will take us approximately 11 hours to drive, and really didn't want to spend it in straight driving hours. We just need somewhere to pull off, plug in, and not unhitch the trailer. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I like KOA Kampgrounds. They are plentiful, easy to find online, and I've never stopped at one that I would "never go back to".

The question is do you take I-26 to I-95, or do you take I-85 to Atlanta, then I-75.

I would just go to KOA.com and search along your route to see which KOA meets your needs.

We would be going I-26 to I-95. We have made the trip a couple of times bu usually drive straight through, and have looked on the Trailer Life CD, but would like some personal opinions. Thanks for responding so quickly.

We drive to Disney from CT and break up our trip into 3 days (two 7 hour days and one 5 hour day) We always stop to sleep at a Walmart. This is a tip I read in Family Fun Magazine a couple of years ago. You can just park in the back of their lot. We don't hook up to anything, all we're doing in the trailer is sleeping. We go out to dinner or do a bit of shopping so the kids can walk around.

The first time we did this we stopped in fredericksburg VA and I was so nervous, I thought we'd be the only ones. let me tell you, the place had about 20 ctrailers& rvs there! Now that I'm aware of it, I notice whenever I drive by a walmart late at night or early in the am, I always see a camper(s) in the lot.

You can go on the Walmart website * find a store in your travel route, or if you buy the Rand Mcnally road atlas at Walmart, it has a listing in it of all the Walmarts countrywide & their exit numbers.

Check out Lake City, FL KOA. We have stayed there before and it was nice enough for one nite. We only plugged up fresh water and power so we didn't have alot of work to do and undo for one nite. I know Walmart is cheaper (unless you go inside) but I like for my kids to be able to get out and move around.
