1/2 Marathon Disney Land

I just checked on-line and saw that the race registration does not open until 1/3/2011 - Few Questions.

Does this race sell out quickly?
When is packet pick up?
If I did this trip solo would I have time to do packet pick up, the race and enjoy the park all in three days?

I think the Disneyland half last year filled up in late May. That could be because it was the 5th anniversary or because it's becoming a more popular race I'm not sure. Previous years I recall it filling up in July.

Packet Pick up is on Friday and Saturday at the DL Hotel. Which is a fairly short walk from the parks. Maybe 10 minutes or so.

Yes I think 3 days is sufficient time.

I agree with Chris that it sold out quicker due to Being 5th. I know a bunch of people who came out to DL because they did the 5th Goofy and 5th DL 1/2 as well as getting C2C medal.

The parks are pretty bust due to Labor Day weekend but 3 days should get you a good getaway weekend.

A little off subject...

I think it is great to see the 2011 proce of entrance before the marathon weekend. It should give us an idea as to the price elasticity created by a less than sold out weekend.

I'm planning on doing the Disneyland 1/2 this year. I'm thinking prices will be similar to the 2011 princess with a small discount for early registration.

We always go to WDW in Sept. for DW's B'day and already have reservations made but DW now wants to go to Disneyland instead for the 1/2 and a C2C Medal after she completes the 1/2 next Saturday.

What have I gotten myself into????

Guess it's all about the Medals.

Just looked at the Run Disney website and registration information is up for the Disneyland Half.

Entry Fees and Deadlines

Disneyland® Half Marathon

$125 by February 6, 2011
$135 between February 7 and April 10, 2011
$145 on or after April 11, 2011
Disneyland® Family Fun Run 5K
$50 per participant
$55 per Stroller division participant
Disneyland® Kids' Races
$20 per child

So, it looks like $5 more then Disney Princess but a shorter discount period. The first price increase is 7 months out.

A lot of people weren't impressed with the Wine & Dine. I didn't like the DL half as much as the Princess but I found it to be fun. I guess it depends on which one would be more expensive. I wanted to get the Coast to Coast so DL was it. I would have preferred the Wine & Dine because I wouldn't have had to travel as far, stay as long, spend as much. Regardless, none of the races seem to sell out that fast. They are expensive, and take some planning so I think a lot of people wait until their plans are set in stone.

This morning I registered for the Disneyland Half Marathon in September. I will also be participating in the Princess Half Marathon at Disneyworld in February so I will complete the C2C challenge this year.
