I've stayed in other timeshares with a kitchen and they would have guidelines- for example things like "leave all used dishes in the dishwasher and run it while leaving."

Does DVC have things like this we are supposed to do? We have a 1 bdrm next month but have only ever been in studios before. I'm guessing they don't really have rules, or ones people follow much, given how cooperative Disney guests are in general. :rotfl2:

Nope.

We stay in 1BRs often, and we've never seen any requests like that - but it's the way we always leave the room, with the dishes running in the dishwasher to get them ready for the next guests. It's only respectful to do so. But no request from DVC, or even a recommendation that we've seen.

I’ve never stayed in a studio (although I will this Dec. for 2 nights at VGF BPK :)) there are no instructions in the 1+br. villas. I always strip the linens of the hide a beds to make sure housekeeping doesn’t ‘forget’ to provide a clean set to the next guests & I clean out the lint trap in the dryer.

Same here. I hate leaving a mess for others. We always pile up used towels, make sure we throw away our junk, and load/start the dishwasher.

No. They don't even have instructions in the room on how to use the dishwasher or the washer. (Years ago when I discovered that the washer in my room was broken, the maintenance person said it was because people didn't know how to use the washers and kept breaking them. IIRC, once the machine started running, the lid was locked in position and you weren't supposed to open it until the wash load was finished. People didn't know, jammed it open, and broke it.)

If you're people who leave all your dirty stuff in the sink on check out, remember not to complain about late room access next time you come and cannot get into a room before 6.
It would be interesting to find out what portion of groups do basic tidying up tasks. I suspect many who don't do anything wouldn't admit it, but many are ready to speak out when they have to wait too long. I already planned dinner for our arrival day to be sure we can run dishes before using them in case others didn't clean as well as we'd like.

We tidy up and leave towels in a pile and start the dishwasher. We used to not start it for small loads and hand wash any dishes (like we do at home if it’s just one or two items instead of leaving stuff in there for days until it’s full) because we don’t really “use” the kitchen. Now, we run it anyway, knowing it’s a bit of a waste of energy and water, but the dishwasher runs much hotter and will sanitize much better than hand washing.
