HEY I'm headed to Hilton Head in about an hour to get my hair colored and chopped off! I have no idea what I'm getting done to it. All I know is I want it short again! Jason isn't too happy... oh and he said he wants to find somewhere this week to get a $5 haircut  He usually shaves his head. I told him don't do anything I may hate before this trip. Then he said the same thing about my hair... He likes it long... OH WELL...

Yeah I'm jealous of all of you staying at the Poly... I tried but you all completely booked it for next weekend!

Besides getting my hair cut today, I will pack a little more. I work tomorrow night and Monday night then I'm off for 2 weeks :dance3:

For those of you will little girls... if you're interested, PM me the email address as I'd like Taylor to "know" who she will be meeting once we get there. Thought it might make it more interesting for her and give her something to look forward to... she can be shy sometimes believe it or not!

Is it near the Disney Resort?

/
Hi everybody! Just checking in and catching up. Thanks for the great cheat sheet, Peter. I had been printing everyone's picture with names and putting them in my cruise notebook since I'm so bad with names. I feel I should have made up some flash cards and had Steve test me to practice matching up names with faces! :rotfl:

The suitcases are out on the bed, my huge Disney storage box has been whittled down to what we'll need for this trip, and we're headed for the Disney Store today to stock up on Disney dollars. We leave Tuesday morning, bright and early, and will check in to Old Key West for 3 nights. Tuesday night we'll either take the boat to Downtown Disney to activate our Florida resident season passes, or hop on a bus to Disney-MGM Studios and activate them there. We won't have a full day at MGM since we're leaving the following Saturday for Cape Canaveral and the Space Center, so maybe we'll spend Tuesday evening at MGM (even though my favorite ride, Rock-n-Roller Coast will be down for rehab, dadburn it)! :(

I have lots of laundry and ironing to do this weekend. I know we may need heavy coats and sweatshirts at WDW so I have to lug them along, but will leave them in the trunk of the car while we're on the Wonder.

We have 2 greyhounds, 2 house cats and a horse at home, and our neighbor will be coming over at least twice a day to feed, pet and comfort them all while we're gone. He had horses and Irish wolfhounds previously, so he is familiar with potential problems that could arise. We leave a complete checklist of everything and the names and phone numbers of the vet and other horse friends of ours in case of emergency. He always tells us not to worry, but of course we always do. When we're about halfway home from our trip we'll start getting anxious about seeing the critters again. You animal lovers will know what I'm talking about.

We're still on for Palo brunch at 11:00 on the sea day - hope to see some of you there. I'm going to try and find something lime green to wear at the terminal, and will definitely have some LGMHPCs plastered somewhere on me or my backpack. See you there!!

Note the temp in Boston!!!!

Yes we have most of the windows open - still dealing with the skunk smell

We have basketball and soccer for Emily today, then a birthday party for Amy tomorrow. I guess packing will have to wait until next week! We leave Friday after school and will stop in Savannah for the night.

Rebekkah, I will send my e-mail address so Taylor and Emily can get to know each other! Great idea! I have told her that she will have friends on board, in addition to her sister and cousins!

It is supposed to be 76 here today - Emily is wishing for snow on the cruise! :rotfl2:

I'm packing too. Yuk! I am extremely unmotivated in that department.

Great cheat sheet Peter! BTW, my husband's name is David. He is the most excited of all of us. He drug the suitcases down from the attic today for me to get busy working on. (And it is best that I do it....) I had to go the store to get Ziploc bags to pack the kids outfits in, and I have been slacking off ever since. He also just left to help my cousin on a plumbing job so I don't have anyone pestering me to pack!

Boston is quite warm....is that not unheard of? It is pretty warm here too. In fact, it should be warm when we leave next week. Last year the temperatures were in the 30's when we left home and only about 50 in Florida when we boarded the Wonder. I thought it was fairly cool in the Bahamas when we arrived. This year it looks like that will not be the case!!!

Oh, and Peter, since you seem to be so very efficient, would you please set us up the proper tipping amounts? I can't remember and I know it is always posted somewhere on the Cruise Line Forum, but since you seem to go a lot, I imagine you can spout it off!

Also, I am TERRIBLE about being able to identify anyone from their pictures. So if you see me, just tell me who you are! My picture is on my signature with my dog. My son took that picture of us one evening and I kinda like it especially since he took it.

OK, I am off to go pack the kids' bags!
Laura

I just got home and my hair is GONE. Jason is going to flip :rotfl2:

Jason's parents have like 10 horses and omg, they are so much work!!

It is about 75h here right now. I put Tucker in this really cute summer outfit he never got to wear :rotfl:

I was looking at the weather (by the way Peter thanks for the temp updates) and it looks like it will be in the upper 70s for us the whole trip. Just how CHILLY does it get on the boat? I'm having a hard time with finding summer clothes for the kids since we're in "winter" months now. Even here in SC our temps have been so warm. We've hardly gotten to wear our winter clothes but yet, the kids outgrew all of their summer clothes!

Rebekkah,

Our Target has started putting out their spring clothes - capris and skorts, although I haven't seen shorts yet. Old Navy had some shorts online, but I haven't been to the store yet. I did buy Emily a new bathing suit from Land's End - last year's will not fit!

Happy shopping!

Mary

We are heading to Old Navy later to see if they are putting flip flops out yet. Taylor and I both need new ones.

Peter or Laura... another tipping ?? ... how much is standard for the towncar driver? porter at the port? is it the the same coming and going? I'm not clear as to who will be helping us the most with our luggage.

You generally tip your waiter, and housekeeper, etc. They do really look out for you while you are there!

The porters I think get about a $1 or $2 per bag. The towncar I can't help you with because we are driving ourselves. I think your towncar driver would be moving your bags around more than the porters.

You can probably buy flip-flops in Florida if you have a little time on your way to the boat. From what I have read on the Cruise Line forum, there is a Target or Walmart right off the Interstate near the port. We have flip-flops out all year year here, and you can get them for a couple of dollars at Ross or TJ Maxx's right now. Of course, you may not have a way to get there if you aren't renting a car.

Congrats on the hair cut, Rebekkah! I am going to cut mine short again sometime soon. My hair is curly, and the warm, damp weather of this winter has it all frizzed up all the time. I am SICK of it. But I won't be doing it before the cruise! Also, it gets cool for me in the evenings on the boat. I usually wore long sleeves at night and sometimes a sweater too. It is always cool on the ocean and generally a little windy in January too.

Here is David with a Christmas gift!

Ohh I love Old Navy flip flops... what $3.99 and so many colors! I wanted to stop there and Target today on the way home from getting the hair cut but Taylor was so wiped out she was not having one more stop! I guess I'll make a last minute shopping run next Wednesday after I get everything packed and see what else we still need.

As for tips... do you prepay them at the beginning of the cruise? I read about some people handing them out in envelopes at the end. What's the easiest procedure as I'm starting to feel overwhelmed! Oh yes and I'm wondering the same thing... what do we tip the people when we get to the port? TIA

Yes you all I may be dead and never see the cruise ship after Jason gets home tomorrow morning and sees it :lmao:

We also have flip flops year round here, especially the stores downtown where I got mine the other day. I was due for some and since it's NEVER going to get cold again, I figured I'd buy a new pair for vacation since we wear them year round now...

I love the Mickey shirt! Maybe after our first Disney cruise, Jason will get more into the "Disney spirit"... he thinks I go overboard when it comes to this stuff.

We went to the party store today and bought hats and necklaces and a tattoo for Taylor for pirate night. They are so cute! I'm not SO excited about dressing up as I am about how cute the family picture will be that night pirate:

In your room on the last night, there will be envelopes for you put tips in for everyone. You can charge it on your KTTW account or pay with cash.

David is FAR more into dressing up than I am. He has a pirate hat for pirate night as a matter of fact. I have to go dig up the kids' pirate stuff from god-knows-where to take. My son will be more into it than my daughter, I think....(but you never can tell with the two of them). If I could get away with jeans and black t-shirt everyday then that is probably all I'd wear!
