We got our cruise docs Thursday!!! I have been off work this week and gotten so much done!!! Shopped for decent clothes for the kiddos to wear for dinners -- found a cute skirt outfit including shoes on clearance for DD; got DS some khakis and navy pants and two button down shirts, but my big bargain was a pair of nice brown casual shoes marked down to $3 at Walmart!!! He wears a man's size 8 now and I hated to buy him shoes that he would only wear once, but for this price I didn't mind at all!! DH got some new clothes, too, since we found a good sale at Macy's; and with a few things I ordered for myself I think I'll have enough to get me through 4 days.

Everything is laundered and pressed, and I've started laying things out to pack!!

Bekkah, did you guys decide on breakfast or not before we get picked up Sunday morning? It's okay if not -- we can meet up at the terminal to chat and the girls can get acquainted. And I have a ? about Senor Frogs -- what do we do with the kiddos if we go there?

Any other last-minute things I need to worry about? We are leaving in 10 days!!

:cheer2:  :cheer2:

How exciting Shelly! I have been doing the same thing... shopping all week to make sure everyone has what they need. My plan for tomorrow is to get everything out and ironed and off the the cleaners this week. I want all of my packing done well in advance so I'm not stressing over that and trying to get my house cleaned before we leave!

As for breakfast, I will talk to Jason today and get back to you tomorrow with a definate answer. I don't see why we wouldn't still be able to go but with his parents at WDW for the weekend, I've been hounding him to figure out THEIR plans so we can finalize ours. I guess I could call them myself but really... I'd rather not have to do that!

I do know I want to be at the port as early as possible to take full advantage of being on the ship for as LONG as we possibly can! What time does the port open/unlock the doors?

As for Nassau... we really have no plans but I'd like to get off just to walk through the straw market and visit Senor Frog's to get a drink and t-shirt... same goes with Hard Rock. In my opinion, all of those places will be appropriate to take the kids along. Who knows, Taylor may love or hate the club so I'm not relying on that to keep her entertained. We are also not pre-booking Flounder's for Tucker (except on Palo night) b/c I'd hate to be stuck paying for the booked time and never use it. We will take our chances to see if openings are available if we find something we really want to do alone.

Hi everybody and Happy New Year!! :cheer2:

We received our cruise documents Friday, right after I called our travel agent to have her check on why we hadn't received them yet! They were in our mailbox when I got home from work. Yippee!! We had filled in all the forms online, so we're all set. Rebekkah - Tell Jason that we're doing Palo brunch during the at-sea day, and Steve is just wearing khaki pants and a tropical style shirt - nothing fancy. Almost as comfy as jeans and a t-shirt.

Just changed our ressie for the night of Jan 12th from Port Orleans French Quarter to Shades of Green. It's a couple dollars cheaper and even though it doesn't have the intense Disney theming, it still has bus service, is close to the monorail, and there's no sales tax in the gift shop, restaurants, etc. I've been wanting to try it and this is our chance.

We're going to be in Cocoa Beach the night of the 13th and hope to be at the DCL cruise terminal by 10:30 am on the 14th. I thought you couldn't board until about 1pm, but our travel agent says they sometimes board earlier.
I found out a friend of mine at work is also departing on a cruise on the 14th, but she's on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. I'll bet we have more fun on our ship than they do on theirs! :rotfl:

Sure looking forward to meeting everyone. I also had an email conversation with someone on the PassPorter Boards who will be on our cruise, so it looks like we will all be making new acquaintances while we sail.

See you soon!

Happy New Year, everyone!!! I think we'll plan to be at the terminal at 10:30 too, Bev. Maybe that would be a good place for a meet?

I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If everything goes right we should be on the ship at 11:45 or there abouts!

That is fine !!!

Happy New Years:woohoo:

Happy New Year, everyone! :cheer2: Can't believe it is almost time to go - we have been planning for a year!

Hope everyone has a safe trip to the Port, and we look forward to seeing everyone there! We are planning to be at the terminal around 10-10:30 after being at the Residence Inn the night before.

Happy New Year to You All!!!

Hoping that you all had wonderful Christmas/New Years celebrations with family.

We have been very busy here (as there is not another option besides busy with seven kiddos, especially at the holidays), and I am just starting to think about the cruise. I think I am excited to try the Wonder because it is a shorter cruise and I wont have to pack formal wear and semi-formal wear (we are going pretty casual) for nine of us, and there will be less suitcases overall. Are you all packing pirate wear for pirate night?

We are at the country inn and suites at port canaveral the night before and will be heading to port sometime around 10-10:30 (our usual plan). We will be at downtown disney the day before.

Peter, I cant find that rate for comfort suites, nor can I find their phone number to call them as I want to inquire if their policy is the same as Atlantis resort policy regarding four in a room plus one under 4. Any chance you can pm me a link? :goodvibes :goodvibes

We also got out documents but havent opened them yet.

Wow, I'm way late to the party; didn't even realize this forum was here. :upsidedow

My wife (Mary, 24) and I (Matt, 27) will be on the Jan 14 cruise, after a 5-night stay at the BoardWalk Villas. It's her first trip, and my first trip since I was 12. Mary will be 21 weeks pregnant with twins. :hyper2: It's sort of our honeymoon/anniversary/vacation-before-the-kids-come-along trip (we were married in Oct '05).

If there are any families or other younger couples out there looking for table mates (second seating), Mary's a bit anxious about being seated with strangers, so it would be cool to "meet" someone before the cruise. :) We're pretty easy-going and enjoy reasonably well-mannered children. ;)

See you all in... wow... just 13 days!

Hi Matt & Mary, and :welcome:

We will be at the Polynesian for 4 nights before the cruise; we are so excited to be leaving in 9 days :woohoo:

Congrats on your wedding and pregnancy -- how wonderful!! We will be celebrating on this cruise, too... our 20th wedding anniversary was October (10th) 2006 but we delayed our anniversary trip this year until January. The kids will be with us (DS9 and DD7), though.

I hope we get to meet you! I was a little nervous about eating with strangers on my first cruise, too, but it really was a lot of fun. I think meeting new people and talking over dinner is a big part of the experience. I know people who have made lifelong friendships with people they've met on cruises or vacations. I'm sure after she is on board Mary will be just fine :goodvibes

Wow now that all the holiday festivities are over ALL I can think about is our trip/cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:  :yay:  :yay:

Awww and Taylor (by the way she just got home today from her dad's in VA) just came to ask me where all her "Disney stuff" was b/c she's packing a backpack... already! How cute...

As for Palo brunch, I will make sure to throw in something for Jason to wear just in case I get ressies. By the way, okay, I think I understand that a jacket is NOT required for dinner but if you DON'T wear a jacket, is a tie required or just a nice dress shirt and slacks? I'd rather not pack the sports coat if necessary but Jason really isn't a tie kinda guy.

Oh another question I had was about the shows... being that this is a family cruise, it's okay to take Tucker to the show before dinner correct? If he acts up by no means would I sit there and ruin everyone else's enjoyment, just wanna make sure it's okay to take him being that I wouldn't take him to a show or movie theatre at home....

Jeanne - We will be at Downtown Disney the day before the cruise as well. Taylor has her princess make-over Saturday morning there! By the way, we are bringing pirate attire... sort of. Jason has a shirt, I have a red/white stripe shirt and Taylor and Tucker has full costumes. They are so cute!

Matt... Welcome to our thread. Glad you'll be joining us! We are around your age range. I'm 26 and dh Jason is 25. We have second seating as well so if you'd like to be seated together, certainly pm me to make arrangements. We have a daughter who is 7 and a son who will be 8 months old in about 2 weeks. Congrats on your honeymoon/anniversary/pre-baby vacation! Wow... twins... I can't imagine!!!!

Shelly - I suppose Jason wants to eat breakfast with his family on Sunday morning, so maybe a meet at the port would be the best for all of us. Taylor is very excited to meet your Taylor. She couldn't believe I actually "knew" somebody going on our trip with us who had a daughter the same age with the same name!

I guess we need to figure out where everyone would like to meet up now...

Bekkah -- for Palo, from what I understand, a jacket is required for dinner but not brunch. For the regular dining rooms, no jacket is necessary, and even jeans are okay (my DH will still probably wear dress slacks or khakis).

And yes, Tucker will be welcome at the shows!

Okay I will pack the jacket then! But still no tie is okay? I was thinking khaki slacks with white dress shirt with blue stripe and navy jacket. Would this be appropriate. Can you tell where we live is VERY casual therefore, we never have an occasion to dress up!

Thanks for the info Shelly!

There will be LOTS of little ones at the shows, not to worry, you wont be alone:goodvibes

They also run Disney Dreams on the television so if you miss it live you can always watch it. I am not sure how it works on the 4 night, but one nice thing about the 7 night is they also run a matinee of Disney Dreams, perhaps there isnt time on the 4 nighter?

We did the bibbity bobbity boutique on our last two visits and honestly it was the highlight of the girls' trips. The little ones insisted on keeping the hairdo in for two days, so if you think she isnt going to let you take it out that night :goodvibes , I suggest bringing a bandana to wrap it up so it stays nice and keeps from getting glitter everywhere while she sleeps. We thought it was worth every penny and then some.

Unless something has changed since October, JACKET is NOT required for men for dinner at Palo. Dress shirt is required, and there will be men in jackets, but there will be plenty who arent. Since we dont have to take jacket for formal/semi-formal night, dh will be dress shirt/tie only if we go to Palo. Not packing the dressy stuff if I can avoid it. Dh dresses up everyday and loves to get a chance to leave the jacket behind. DCL website will have the current dress requirements if you click on the Palo link.

Welcome to Matt and Mary!!! I hope you guys find some wonderful tablemates, it can be a highlight of the cruise. Congrats on the twins, we loved those twin baby days....:cloud9:

Welcome, Matt and Mary! Congrats on the twins - hope Mary is feeling well. We have early seating with 16 more of our extended family (20 of us in all) - we will be hard to miss at dinner! :rotfl2:

Glad to hear the surprises went well!
I haven't even had time to check this site since I last posted. Between Christmas, visiting my Dad and all of us getting the cold/virus that was going around here I haven't had time to think!

Our girls knew about the cruise but got surprised with the Dolphin Encounter and Stingray Excursion. We kept telling them we couldn't get it booked. We are doing the Dolphin Encounter on our own since Disney was not available. We are taking our chances ... what is a little cold water when a Dolphin is giving you a kiss????

Ready to start packing!!!!!!

Would love to meet some of you on the cruise! We won't be arriving until later on the 14th though. We are taking Disney transportation from the Animal Kingdom to the ship. It leaves at 12:30.

Happy Planning to All!!!!!

Jodi

Jeanne is right, Bekkah -- I misread the dress for Palo...

"During dinner, gentlemen will be required to wear a dress shirt. Gentlemen wearing polo shirts, t-shirts, Tommy Bahama style shirts, etc will not be allowed admittance. Jackets and/or ties are recommended but not required. Notices will be in the Personal Navigator, on the Palo reservation card and a sign outside the elevators on deck 10 will contain this dress advisory. The Resort Casual dress code for both the brunch and high tea remains unchanged."

My DH likes to dress up so he will wear a suit & tie for dinner, but for those who don't it appears to be just fine!

Jodi - Glad you had a good Christmas. We have all had the resp virus and cold here too. Just now getting over it... Taylor really wants to do the dolphin encounter but I'm afraid the water will be too cold and with the baby, one of us would have to observe :confused3 We are going to Universal in December and I'm seriously thinking of saving my nickels and dimes for the Discovery Cove swim. We'll see.....

Shelly - You're confusing me!! :rotfl: Maybe I should just bring the jacket in case? My ORIGINAL outfit I had picked out for Jason is black slacks with a black/gray pinstripe button down shirt... a very "sharp" looking outfit but I just wasn't sure if it was dressy enough being no tie or jacket. I'm wearing black that night so at least we'd match better if he could wear his black pants!

Is anyone planning special outfits to sail away? Most likely NOT here since Jason thinks it's "gay" but I want our pictures to look good too! Oh speaking of which I made him coordinate for Christmas and he was NOT happy... sorry the pics are so small!
