09 WDW Marathon now 50%(3/5/08)

Disney now shows the Marathon is 50% full.

I know it's always behind th half, but did that many oeple just do it fro teh new medal and now are going back to the half?

BTW, you know how tehy added 3000 entries fro this year? Do you knwo fi they are doign that for 09? The course seemed horribly crowded this year and character ines were insane. I hop ethey go back to a smaller volume, but somethign tells me I'm out of luck.

Carrie: Bad news as I got some new info from my Disney source that the marathon will have 20,000 runners in 2009.

That is 2000 more than 2008! Look for more crowding

BTW, the race is at 50% 2 weeks faster than last year as well. Already 10,000 people have signed up. I think it is faster since they raised the fees on 3/1.

FYI: 1/2 has 17,500 runners and 5K 4000 runners

OK, well that pretty much takes the fun out of it. We were fighting to get through people until after AK. If there will be no photo ops without long lines and the whole course will be crowded, I may re-think 2010. I may have r-thought 2009 had I known. Paying a lot of money to be in a heard of cattle.
