09/28/2002 Cruise

Hi everyone! Hope Ave has a great time at her employee party. Call me later and let me know how it was!

I had a very sad day at work. Today was the 1 year anniversary of the death of one of our doctor's son. He was 17y/o and killed in an auto accident (a women ran a red light). It's been a very tough year for him and his family. I worked with him all day today and could tell he was having a hard time keeping it together. He made it through the day, and thankfully was not on call so he was able to go home to his wife and family.

Mike, glad your dad is doing well!

George, your son would probably love a "Sloppy Joe's , or Hogs Breath Saloon shirt from Key West.

I am still looking for sugestions on a place to meet Shirley and Norm in Key West???ANYONE?

A shuttle launch would be WONDERFUL! Before the recent trouble with the launches, a shuttle was scheduled for launch on Oct 6th. We made reservations at the Radisson, rather then heading home, in hopes of seeing the launch. The only thing better then seeing a launch at the END of a cruise it to see one at the START!
Lets all send pixie dust to NASA!!!!

Mike .... Soooooo good to hear that your Dad can still perk up over the sweet young therapist .... all is apparently still working ...just maybe a little slower than you'd like! Check your PM, I'm sending some ideas you might want to consider.

Real Funny ... I said PM not BM!

George ... Last year when we were in WDW after our cruise, they had a PA resident rate that was to die for. I think they take turns with different states.

Right now I have the football Hall of Fame inductions on ... love my football, especially PSU and The Eagles! Got our PSU season tickets the other day YAHOO!

Dan ... Thank you so much for the Shuttle News Link. Art is really into the shuttle and space launch stuff.

:bounce: Should we send some Pixie dust to the Shuttle Crew in hopes they will launch while we can view it? I believe that one of newbies has a DH that is somewhat of a shuttle expert ... Any thoughts?

bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I want to give Mary my heartfelt THANKS for the great work you are doing on the list. I just love that thing and have found it so handy in doing up the name tags. It is also invaluable in learning about my fellow DIS Cruisears and breaking the ice when we first meet. Must admit that Art (my DH) is also studying it.

Have some sewing to catch up on for the Cruise and also need to make up the last few name tags.....

Check back later .... Have a Mickey Day!

Hey to all you cruisears. It is a beautiful, hot day in Alabama. 87 degrees and rising.

Glad all of you liked the chocolate is a vegetable. It justifies the 10lb weight gain we all do on these cruises.

Papa - I have a Brother 8500 and a Bernina 1230. The digitizing software I use is PE Design and Janome 10000. I have digitized Jimney Cricket for my own use (of course), he was the very first project I undertook. Since then I have done everything from Family Practice logos to Walk for Diabetes, Universal Studio characters (again for my use only, that copyright thing). You can get a lot of designs free off the internet - including Disney designs on a Russian web page. Contact me by email and I will send you a list of where to go on the internet to download. Hope your Dad is doing better - He's in all our prayers for a speedy recovery.

Seeing the shuttle take off would be great - I hope it happens and I agree that we should send lots of pixie dust to Nasa.

Well, I am off to St Louis on Monday for a training class on credentialling doctors. Does anyone live there by chance??
Would love to meet up with some of you if possible.

Take care to all, it's getting close to cruising time.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

:( I just had the horrible sinking feeling you get when you realize you have done something stupid! I was looking at the Western navigators and saw the pin trading times: 7:30-8:30. I know that is when it was on our last cruise also, but it never clicked to me that we would miss it if we have the late seating. duh! So.....since pin trading is a big thing for my dh and ds I think I will have to call and see if I can change our seating to the early one. I was looking forward to the later seating as we always seemed so rushed on the early one last cruise. :( :( I was so looking forward to dining with padisney and the sorcerer (and spouses!) I am afraid if I keep the late seating It will only be me with no husband or son. I know they will want to be in the middle of the pin trading! Anyone have a better solution?

Guess I will be seeing those of you at the early seating instead!!
Have a Disney Day. Elaine

We won! We won! After telling us Team of the Year awards would not be given, the Docs overruled management. But since the team concept has only been in place since Jan. we really got Team of the Half-Year. ;) So everyone on my team got $75.00 and 1 extra vacation day! I am VERY proud of my team. The party was a blast. Also got my 8 year pin, gold with 2 sapphires.
Bought DD formal dress today. It's floor length, with skinny shoulder straps. She looks so grown-up in it. She will also be sporting braces on the cruise. She gets them on Sept. 11th.
Now I have to work on Tux for DH. Oh, a Cruisears' job is never done!:jester:
Got to run and call Rellingtwin to brag about my team. Later, Ave

Hi, Elaine--

I was a bit bummed when I read your post about the new dining times. Won't 5:15 actually feel like 4:15 when we change the clocks? (I always have trouble with that time thing!) Anyway, I mentioned it to Ed, but he didn't seem very concerned. He says that we can always eat dinner at Topsiders later if the early seating seems too early. Keep in mind that his favorite meal is breakfast!!!! Anyway, if you do switch to early seating, feel free to link with our reservation. The only problem I foresee is that we might not be there every night. If that doesn't bother you, PM me and I'll give you our reservation number.

Also, note to William--I'm bringing you a Delaware Mickey pin also.

One more question--does pin trading time interfere with showtimes?

Also, to all--I noticed a new thread "cruise" where someone is looking for teens who will be on the 9/28. I suggested that she check out this thread, so keep an eye out for her.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Karen

could go to dinner at 8:30 but wouldn't that be kind of late if start time is at 7:45? We also liked breakfast better. I do think we will try Palo's this time. We didn't especially mind missing dinner in the evenings and went to Topsiders twice ourselves. Not ot worry. Will work it out. Elaine

Congratulations Twinave on the pin and Team of the Year.

I read on a different thread that the dining times were going back to the original in mid-August. Anyone else see that?

Kimber

Rae - "UDA MAN"!!!!! Shuttle Lauch! Now you will get me excited.

Have always wanted to see it but have never been in the vicinity at the time. PLEASE let it be so! I could skip golf & fishing for a shuttle launch. Sprinkle Pixie Dust? POUR IT ON! SHOVEL IT ON!

Now, I am starting to get pumped ... My Honey, Shuttle Launch, snorkeling, and being out of reach of my electronic leashes for a few days :bounce: :earseek: :Pinkbounc

Papa (Mike) - Better be careful, Chrystina's addiction to digitizing and embroidery-sewing is contagious - She'll have Nancy? hooked and you will have another dependent - Joann's Fabrics!!
Of course, you do get cool sweatshirts & bathrobes out of it!!!

Heat continues unabated in Alaska - just too much fun for golf!!!

HH&GB to all

Kimber....that is what I thought! How in the world I missed this is beyond me. I read this board 10X a day (I have no life!LOL)
This will effect our party only on Cozumel day because we will be on an excursion until about 6pm, so getting to dinner at 7:15 will be cutting it close.
I personaly LOVE the late dinner. My kids can either get ready for bed afterwards, or go to the club. MOst times they were tired and ready for sleep. This left an hour or 2 for DH and myself to go to a club or relax on deck, and spend some grown up time together.

Elaine, TheSorcerer1 is George and Barbara, PaDisneyFan is Nancy and Norm. There are 2 George's on this cruise (and one of them is my DH) but only 1 MARY!LOL

Some Key West info for anyone (like me) who must research every last detail thereby enabling themselves to stress out over what to do because they have so many choices to make. Having reached a stress level that disenables decision-making that leads to another round of research!!! Ask Chrystina - Drives her nuts!

Elaine...I saw your post about dinning times. Hopefully we will get an answer soon.

I took the Tuxedos to the cleaners today!YIPEE!
Dennis...cool site! Thanks!

I am still trying to find a good place to meet Shirley and Norm in KW. Anyone have a suggestion?

They simply MUST lauch the shuttle on 9/28! I think I will e-mail NASA and ask them to launch at 5pm!LOL!

OMG ... If they could launch the shuttle at 5 or even 6, be having the time of our lives at sail away with our DIS Cruisear Family .. that would be a taste of heaven! Pixie Dust to the Shuttle Welders to fix that darm leak or whatever.

Hope things are OK with Papa-Mike ... missed him and Kathy yesterday.

Ave ... Super news about your award ... and with such a nice pin to boot! Just had my 20th with the RRB-Government ... they didn't do a thing - I'm kinda bummed, they usually do a plaque and a pin BUT they skipped me :(

Good news is that I sewed up a storm yesterday ... shortened all those shirts that would have made nice dresses. Just why do mfg insists on making T-****s, etc so darned long. We're not all 6 ft and size 2, are we?

Check back later...

PS - Did you guys see where those 9 Miracle Miners signed a contract with Disney to have their story made into a Movie ... glad to see Disney got it. The money will go a long way I'm sure for those hard working guys.

Hello all. Donnamd you and your group are welcome to be our dinner mates with ourself and @GoofyNut. Love to have you join us just pm me or Cathy and we will link it up.

Way to go Ave!!!! Mary so you are the only Mary on the cruise how special is that:bounce:

Going back to the hospital again today and sit with dad. He is doing great and I will take Katie with me today. Need that little baby with me as there may be some cute young ladies and she will act like a chick magnet;)

Could not see the magic on two palms yesterday:mad:

Have to run as breakfast needs to be cooked. Kathy worked last night and that little lady will be tired and hungry when she gets home. Mike

Mike ... gald to hear your dad is getting better ..... Wait till I see little Ktie and tell her how you called her your chick magnet! BTW I was at Walmart again last night and found another 'couldn't resist toy" for the grandbady. You better bring some up to the
date pictures of her with you for us to see how BEAUTIFUL she is!

Art's still in sleepy land ... had a hard day partying with the young pups at the American Legion Pig Roast yesterday. He went with a dear friend of ours for a guys' day out.

Seems like everyone is having heat wave ... does that mean it'll be nice or stormy for our cruise?
