Elaine ~ GREAT News!!! Will keep your Dad in my prayers...

VondaP ~ Also good news!!!!!!

William ~ Disney Trivia Book?!!!

Beth ~ Don't Worry Be Happy! - Not too many icebergs in Carib!!!

GoofyNut ~ Naughty question!!!
Since we will have been home for a week before the cruise, best
Watch for reports of earthquakes in Alabama :smooth:
Besides, thought folks wanted to minimze the ship "rockin & rollin"!!! Hey ~ who are the newlyweds? And the anniversaries and such? That'll be the reason the ship is rockin & rollin! Yep!!!

Rae ~ Cruise ship captains have usually had a pretty good record of travelling around most bad weather. At least on the trips that I have been on ~ One or two days total have been questionable.
besides, I BE GOING ANYWAYS!!! Weather does not usually stop me. Don't mind be wet. White whale in the pool? That'll be me!!!

TWO DAYS OF WORK LEFT!!!! Know that it will be difficult for y'all to adjust to it but be prepared!!! I will not be posting on FRIDAY...
I'll be "Dixie bound"!!!! Don't I look reserved and quiet?

:bounce:  :Pinkbounc

Good Morning All...

Elaine, what wonderful news ! Hugs to you & your family...

William, which trivia books do you have ?

Looks like our pin trading week-end is going to be a wet one..

Take care & stay safe,
Bette

So glad to hear your Dad got through the surgery, Elaine - God bless you all!

Vonda - Alright girl! Glad to know you are packed and have the documents. We already formulated a plan to stow you and yours away in our luggage - so you'd still be with us!

Dennis - As medication and lack of exercise have contributed to numerous obese people, myself included, I have learned that intolerant people are everywhere and it doesn't matter what size your outside is, it's the heart that matters. Tom and I went from being USAF fighting weight (lean, mean fighting machines) to middle aged plumpy! But we love God, our families, ourselves and our Country. (Notice I didn't mention JOB in that one!)

If you happened to miss my thread - I learned yesterday from DCL that I will NOT be getting both those onboard credits. Sure took them long enough to tell me since I purchased the Am Ex Carribean Magic in July! Well, at least I still get the Castaway Club onboard credit for the early booking for the next 3 cruises we have set up. And after lengthy discussions with Diedra (DCL Supervisor), my TA and American Express - I determined that a little mistake made by a DCL representative can cause a lot of disappointment - I would like to take partial blame in this, but fail to find anything except being trusting of DCL and Am Ex. As Diedra pointed out, "If it sounds too good, it probably isn't true!"
And by the way, I have told American Express they can keep their card and I am taking my business elsewhere - after all, this was THEIR program and they should have known their own rules/regulations.

Whew, I am windy this morning! Must be the caffeine kicking in!

Okay, hugs to all and Dennis/Chystina, I found a nice white wine for the salmon! And if you like tiramesu - I have lived in Italy for several years and have THE best recipe!

Love,
Rae

Can you visualize the people who xray the luggage -- "HMMM there appears to be a family packed inside these bags!"

Rae -- you have a good recipe for Tiramisu? Can you share it with the whole class? Did you know I moderate the recipe/scrapbook board? (Subtle hint! LOL) Might I be able to tempt you to share the recipe there? Here is the link to that board: http://198.64.133.85/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=40

Bettemom -- is this the pin event at Epcot? Have you ever met those crazy Collector's board moderators in person? I think AZ JazzyJ, MeanLaureen, NHMickey, and Obi-Wan Pinobi are going to be there. I've met Lauri and Matt (Obi-Wan) before. They are both really nice. (Oh wait, I'm not sure if Matt is going.) Have a great time at the event. I saw on that board that there is a big list of mini meets going on.

Good Morning to all!!! or is it Good Day!!?? It's almost lunch time here in sunny Alabama. Suppose to rain and thunder later today. Have to wait and see.

Elaine - Great News about your dad. We will still keep him and you in our prayers. Get some sleep girl....you need it.

Rae - I love Tiramisu!!! I have the liquor, Tiramisu, already, so your recipe would be handy. Should I bring a bottle with me??? I am still trying to maintain that Air Force mean, lean, fighting machine for the Air National Guard. But, middle age plump is trying to take over. Never ending battle!!

Goofynut - Naughty question. I won't even go there.

Vonda - Hurray!!!! Glad your docs came. Must have scared them when I offered to turn Kathy loose on them. She really is a terror when it comes to stuff like that. But she has to be with 5 children. All of them little....two in elementary with the youngest being 7-8 months old. She is a "good" Catholic.

Bethe - What is DisCon2??? Got that on your scrapbooking board. Curious about what it is.

Well folks, gotta go finish sewing some outfits. Going out to dinner with my best girlfriend Betty. Steak at McLins. Yum Yum.

Be safe all. We be sailing, SOON!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Elaine we are so happy that you got good news and hope it continues to get better. Dennis hope you have a safe short flight home to your sweetie. Do ya'll believe tomorrow we are in single digets to launch day. Hope everybody stays healthy this week. Is anybody else in the Pa group having allergy problems this year, worse than any other year? Really seems bad this time around. How about the rest of the country? Take care everybody and we will see ya soon.

George,

My asthma started acting up the last couple of days. Went to get a refill on my Vanceril and told me on back order and they heard they aren't going to make it any more. So guess I will need to call my MD to get something else. Fall is my worse time.

So little time so much to do.

Nancy

Elaine - GREAT NEWS!!!! Dont' worry the tubing will be out soon and the grayish skin color will turn to a nice healthy little baby pink!!!!

Vonda - Glad you got your doc's. I would be a nut if I had to wait :)

George & Barbara - dying in Poughkeepsie with the allergies! Looking forward to being able to breathe again in the carribean (and possibly drug free for a couple of days)

To everyone else - pixie dust and best wishes for the next 10 days - Happy packing and safe traveling!!

Lauren

Elaine--I am so happy to know your dad is doing well. Did he know he had people all over the country rooting for him?

Fellow Pennsylvanians--Both Ed & I have been sniffling more than usual. How did any pollen develop when it didn't rain all summer?

Middle-age plumpy? Is that a medical term?

Well, today was the big day for us--Riker had his appointment with the veterinary opthalmologist. (If you can't spell it, you probably can't afford it--ha, ha!) Anyway, the doctor says that he is a good candidate for surgery, even with his diabetes and all. We're having our regular vet do his blood work, and if it turns out okay, he'll have both cataracts removed on October 14. Nancy, I think you asked if we were going to U of Penn. This doctor works there part of the time and part of the time in Trooper, PA--near Valley Forge. There were about 20 dogs with various problems in the office. I think I should have gone into this field--it's really big business.

Tomorrow is my last day off work until we leave for Florida. My goal is to get organized with this packing stuff. Wish me luck.

Karen

Elaine: So happy to hear about your dad. Thanks for posting so quickly. Now get some rest.
Dennis: Too funny!;)
Kimber: Thanks for asking me about my namein your PM. I guess I should give everyone a lesson. You are right, it does rhyme with Pave' as in Pave' diamonds. (of course) :p Also for any fellow Catholics it is also in the song Ave' Maria. One more way of explaining the pronunciation is say ahhhhh, like when the doctor tells you to say ahhhhh, then VA, like the first part of the word vase. As you may be able to tell I have had a lot of experience teaching people to say my name. My motto is if you can't say it, Ask me again! I would rather that, then being referred to as Mary's twin sister, Mark's wife, Casey's mom, etc.
I borrowed a suitcase from one of my bosses today. I asked her to bring me the largest suitcase she had. OMG, didn't know they made them this big!! But it's perfect!
Can't wait to meet everyone! Just 10 days to go!!!!!!!! Ave'

Elaine ... Great news about your Dad. Will still keep him in our thoughts and prayers. So nice that 's behind him now and his only mission is to HEAL!

Vonda ... Glad you got your documents ... now you want to come to my house and finish my packing LOL

Karen ... Nice to hear about Riker. Art keeps asking why can't AshLee go and I said if she could I'm sure she'd have company ...like Riker, Mike's "taco dog", etc .... Hey if pluto can go how come other dogs can't? hehehe

Got the last of the name-tags laminated today and will pack them tomorow night. I made some for Shirley & Norm of Perfect Give too.

Well gotta take a bite out of some of these odds and ends... check on everybody tomorrow.

Cathy

Ave,

Thanks for the pronunciation lesson, but it doesn't really help. It depends if you pronounce the "a" in vase with the nasally "ai" sound or the more refined "ah" (vaise, vahse). I can see us all at the Goofy Pool Saturday evening having diction lessons ala "Singin' in the Rain". ("I cain't staind him." "I cahn't stahnd him.") :D

- Mike

Another day of work behind me! I can't figure out if I always work this hard or if it just seems like I am busting my butt, because my vacation is so close???? 5 more work days to go...this week seems endless!
I flipped on the Travel Chanel tonight and what did I see??? THE MAGIC! There was a show about cruising (The Ultimate Cruises) and the "Best Family Cruise" was of course DCL. I screamed for the kids to come watch (the heck with homework;) ) It showed a lot of the "stock" film footage from the DCL video, but also showed passengers being announced, as well as interview with Jim the cruise director. I even saw Cedric (our server from last year) who DD was in LOVE with!

Dennis, have a safe, uneventful trip, and a wonderful reunion with your DW!!!

Cathy..Thank you so much for all the work you have done on the name tags!<<<<<<CLAPPING FOR CATHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still can't find DS bow tie:confused:

Ave did not mention how we got our names. Mom was 39 y/o and 4 months pregnant when she fell and broke her leg in 3 places. She spent the rest of the pregnancy in a cast! She also had 5 other children to care for!!She prayed to Mary that the baby would be OK (no sonograms back then:p )then the bombshell, 3 weeks before we were born the doctor said the word "TWINS"!!! Ave' Maria means "Hail Mary" so, we were named after the Blessed Mother ( I think mom did a LOT of prayed during her months in bed with a broken leg!!!) The nuns in Catholic school just LOVED us!!!!
I wanted to name my DD Ave, but sis asked me not to (her name did bring her some grief as a child) so I named DD Regina Ave (sister's middle name is Regina) .
And now you know ....THE REST OF THE STORY!

Ave & Marie,

What a wonderful story. Being a good Catholic girl myself, I know exactly what the Ave Marie means. I also was curious about why you had such different names and never put it together until I read your story. Now I won't be able to get that song out of my head every time I look at your two.

What a wonderful blessing you were to your mom and family.

I am so deep into the hockey tournament paperwork that I can't even get to the packing.

Karen---What wonderful news about Riker. I think that might be the same vet practice that one of my friends took her dog to from York when it needed to have chemotherapy. Some of the physicians practiced at U of Pa and then there. You must keep me posted after the trip on his progress.

Elaine-- I hope things are still going well for your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Now I most get back to the hockey stuff. It really is cramping my time on this board.

Mary - so my "dream" of singing "Ave Maria" to you was pretty on target, ehhh?!

Tiramesu recipe will follow, I have to get it out. My son, the picky adult, says it's the best he's ever eaten - told the server at Olive Garden that they needed my recipe. Of course, it uses raw eggs and we all know that risk - so you must get the freshest possible from a reputable egg man.

Yes, middle-aged plump is a definite medical term, Karen. I'd like to be middle-aged healthy though so I'm working on it.

Other notes, school for Michael is going most excellent - for both of us.

Hoping you all have a wonderful day -
Rae
