Tikimimi is in school, Tikimack just logged on in time to see the pirate vanishing over the horizon......:confused3

I waited for you to hoist the colors but, alas, your light was not green...

Anyone up for watching the Wonder leave Port Canaveral today?

My thoughts are with all of you on this special day! Most Canadians are the same in their thoughts too, we all remember!
I got my cruise stuff on Monday and so now I am ready, just need to pack and then head out! I am hoping the hurricane activity slows down soon as it is starting to make me very nervous, does anyone know if any disney cruises have been affected lately? We are starting to get ready for cold weather here as it starts in October unfortunately.
I hope everyone has a great day and I will chat soon. :thumbsup2

Wow you guys were busy.

Even though Ike is miles away he is still bothering us. My 30 minute drive to work took 2 hours. HWY 98 which runs along the beach is under water. So I had to go all the way around. If I wasn't so busy and wanting to go on vacation I would have went home.

Congrats on the pirate Annette, now drinks are on you:laughing:

What a yucky way to start the day. Hopefully the ride home won't be as bad.

Since I'm home today I'm up for watching it leave.

What time does it usually leave?

5 pm Eastern

One of the recent cruises docked in Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) because of storms close to the port. The 5 day cruise missed their second CC day and had some rocking and rolling on the last day. I think those have been the only ones affected by the storms. Right now except for Ike things look clear. Here's hoping that Ike doesn't do too much damage when it does hit land and that the weather stays clear after that.

Right now I am counting the following people for Mass at 4 PM on Saturday, Sept. 20:
Frank and Kathy
Joanne and Roger
Mary and Mark
Karen
Ellen and Tom

Anyone else is welcome. It would help to know so I can bring enough hosts for the Mass and for us to pick a place to have the Mass. Just let me know either by posting or by PM.

Hello, (Fr.) Frank,

Wow. What a wonderful idea. DW and I are getting in on September 20, but not until after 4:00 and we are staying at the MCO Hyatt. Do you plan on celebrating mass at any other time or on Sunday morning somewhere/someplace? My one criticism of DCL is, unlike Holland America, there is no opportunity to attend mass while cruising.

I am sure our parish priest would be more than happy to give us "special dispensation," but it's just not the same thing.

Thanks.

I haven't had a chance to catch up on everything here, but did notice someone talking about the 2.5 gal bags.

On our last couple trips I used a huge XXL Hefty ziploc bags (I think they are like 13 gallon or something like that) as a laundry bag. It's sturdy enough to stand up in the closet, so you can just throw your dirty clothes in. Then when you go home, if you push all the air out you can compress your dirty clothes into a small, compact bundle. And more importantly, the ziploc keeps your dirty clothes from stinking up your clean clothes on the way home. :thumbsup2

I still haven't unpacked from the last trip, but I want to work on that tonight. At least I have all day Saturday to finish up before we fly out on Sunday.

Wendy
We use the Hefty bag for that, too. Great idea! Good luck with the unpacking/packing.:scared:

Here's what we do for dirty laundry. We take a duffel bag folded up in our luggage. Once we unpack we open it up and put in the the closed to put our dirty laundry in. On longer cruisers I'll use it to take down the the laundry room to do our laundry. Sometimes when we fly home we'll just put a lock on it and add it as another piece of luggage and use the space in our luggage for all our goodies. This trip since we'll have a one bedroom at Boardwalk we'll keep the dirty laundry in it and do some laundry at Boardwalk and come home with clean clothes!

Since I'm home today I'm printing out the Mass Booklets. I'll print out a few extra in case we have some people joining in. I'm really looking forward to sharing this very special time with our DIS friends.

Since it just dawned on me that we are only 10 days out I thought it time to do a daily countdown. Especially since we've been so chatty it is hard to try and go back a week to find it. :lmao:

Yes, that is what I did last year.

The radio is telling us the road will be closed until Friday. Now we have a two ride home. If I didn't have this H & r Block class I would be firing up the blender!!!!

The weather isn't so good in Port Canaveral. The sail away party will probably be inside today
