It's not as many posts as I did last time...

I haven't been to a real beach in a long time. Real beaches have salt water at the edge.

And odd bits in the sand like conch eggs. And dead jellyfish and sand sharks.

And pop tops. There is a company started in Chicago named Canfields that made soda.

 

[Truffle]

Mr. Canfield had a gold pop top necklace made for his wife. And Mrs. Canfield always wore that pop top dangling from a chain around her neck. They didn't live too far from where we did and I saw her a lot.

The last time I was at Road America in Wisconsin, I found a lot of those old pop tops around the course there.

If you drank enough beer, you could make long chains out of them, or even a suit of pop top chain mail. I saw one of those once.

 

[Truffle]

I started to calculate how many beers that represented, and gave it up as a lost cause. Figured I would just have to drink a LOT to make my own.

But Sue threw out my collection, and I was never able to make my own suit of chain mail.

I bet that I could get almost a $1.50 from all that aluminum from those pop tops!
