Well G'nite Junior, Karen...2 more weeks of slaving away before I escape reality.

Wow - I get off early to watch the BLACKHAWKS :sad1: and you go wild - through another 100 posts!

Congrats Karen and Wally.

Hoosier John is in trouble!!!

I arrived at work before 5:00 am and setup a really grand welcome for him as he passed under the bridge. I sat and waited, and waited, and waited... At 5 minutes to 9:00 I had to pack up and leave for a meeting. One of my guys advised me that he passed under the bridge at 9:15...

We're back in the USA!!! We got back to Indy last night, and so far I have only gotten caught up to Andy's post. Glad to see you have all been active while I was gone!

I got up at 5am and headed to deck 12 with camera in hand. I believe we crossed under the Veranzo (sp?) Narrows bridge around 5:15 to 5:30. This is the bridge that the QM2 clears by about 12 feet. As suggested at an onboard lecture, a trucker honked as we went under. I took pictures with and with out the flash, but it was still so dark that I'm not sure how they turned out.

I looked over to the left just before we crossed under the bridge for Andy, but it was too dark to make anything out. My next task was to head to the bow to see the Statue of Liberty. As we approached, we entered heavy fog. A lady there tracked our location on her GPS phone, so I knew I was looking in the right direction, but the fog was too thick. So I went in for breakfast at 6 am then down to the cabin to see how Lara and Laran were doing.

Somehow, after spending an entire week with the same kids in the Kids Zone, and having flu shots, Laran managed to catch something the previous night. We were up at midnight mopping up a rather substantial quantity of her dinner followed by showers. The 'hazmat' team came in and cleaned the room and changed her bedding. By this time they also had to change ours where she rested until they arrived. I layed a towel under her for the night, which continued with mostly dry heaves.

The next morning she took a little water, which prompty came back up. Diareah had set in now too. So I sat with her in the room while Lara had breakfast. Keep in mind we still had a bus ride, lines at the airport to go through, and a 2 hour plane trip. We were armed with sick sacks (aka barf bags) the crew gave us from the ship. The problem is, she hasn't ever been sick like this before, and she was having trouble getting the timing right. While waiting in our departure lounge, I went back up top and got a clear shot of Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhatton. Other than her not feeling well and all of us being very tired, we made it home without any major events. Primarily because her stomach was completely empty. Before the flight she did drink a quarter bottle of Sprite.

After the flight we bought her some carmel popcorn which was the first food she had eaten in 24 hours. We came home and started some laundry then decided to have some (real) Mexican food. Just before arriving at our table, up came the popcorn. We asked them to mop it up before someone stepped in it. Then do we eat or head home? We decided they deserved to earn a little money after cleaning up after us. She ate some chips and a little meat and has been fine ever since.

More about the QM2 later...
