Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you that are getting all the winter weather mother nature is unleashing, especially those of you that are working out in it to keep life normal for everyone else! We have SNOW in our forecast for Friday here in the Houston Texas area. It never snows here. The 2-4 inches predicted to accumulate will shut the city down. We do not have snow plows, so can we borrow Junior please. Stay safe!

Y'all continue to be safe and are in my prayers. Be smart and take it easy, everyone will get through this no matter how bad it gets.

We are dealing with the non-stop ice and chill now. Can't wait to see how this all pans out by morning. No worries for any of us though, we know about the happiest place in the world and have an amazing DREAM in our future.

Keep us all updated so we know how you are making out. :thumbsup2

Just called Chuck he is on the Long Island Railroad coming home from the Rangers Hockey game-of course tonight it was a late start, went into overtime, and had I think 2 shoot outs. We are hoping he stays ahead of the ice storm we are expecting. Jr hats off to you and all your plow buddies. The sky looks so ominous like something out of Harry Potter when the death eaters were coming!!!

Hey guys I'm checking in from snowy Wheaton. It's really kind of beautiful for a blizzard. Everyone respect the power of this storm and stay safe and warm.

Hey Lynn, I believe that I have earned the position of your favorite DisBoard Firefighter who is not related to you. I fear that I am about to put that into jeopardy. I saw in the AllEars newsletter that the doors in the Concierge area are not magnetic... You may feel free to verify that information but I thought it important for you to know if you planned to post magnets.

OK, I will take down my official title from my door, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. First the snow and now this

Well, it is officially official - my best friend and I will be joining all y'all on the SS Member Cruise 2011.

DCL has apparently had me booked since October (when I first started getting emails about the sailing) but DVC was not aware that my waitlist had cleared so quickly. Now I don't have to worry about being tempted to use my points for something else. :)

We've got 2nd dining seating with the 7pm show and now I'm just waiting to find out if my most amazing :wizard: assistant server from my first cruise will be back on the ship in September so I can request him for this cruise.

Looking forward to seeing some DISers in September.

JUST GOT HOME. I DROVE INTO THE CITY TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE LAURA WORKS. GOT HER VEHICLE AND FILLED IT UP WITH GAS. LEFT MINE THERE WHILE I FILLED HERS. HAD TO FIND OPEN GAS STATION. I DROVE MY MIATA, GOT STUCK BEHIND A PLOW AND WITH THE BOWING SNOW COULDNT SEE WHERE I WAS GOING. SO I JUST STARED AT THE PLOW LIGHTS:scared1: ITS JUST STARTING TO GET BAD HERE. WE ARE EXPECTED TO GET MAYBE 40CM OF SNOW. THATS ABOUT 30IN. I KNOW WHAT IM DOING IN THE MORNING. AS I DROVE HOME I HAD THE CHICAGO RADIO STATION ON FOR SOME WEIRD REASON. IT MUST BE AWFUL THERE:scared1: WELL EVERYONE STAY SAFE.

Well, I'm listening to the wind howl, watching the snow get plastered to the window screens so that it is all covered, and seeing the flash of lightning and the rumble of thunder. Now THAT is a storm! We have some drifts that are about 3' high right now, and it is still coming down about 2" per hour. Winds are between 40 and 55 MPH. Frankly, it is pretty darn nasty out there!

Stay inside and have a beverage of your choice, or some hot chocolate. That is my plan!

For the DIS meets (either on land or sea), a place and time were just designated ahead of time and people showed up. In 2009, we met at Beach Club Villas before the cruise since a lot of people were staying at BCV & Boardwalk before the cruise, then we met in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day, at the sail away party, and then on the second day at Castaway Cay at the DJ booth to toast a DIS member who was not on the cruise and to request that the DJ play a Jimmy Buffet song. In 2010, since we were scattered all over we did not have a DIS meet on land. We just had one on embarkation day and people could meet up at the Sail Away party in a designated spot if they wished.

Thank you Marsha,

I may have asked before, but for the embarkation day meet, do you know if any prior arrangements were made with DCL regarding the lounge we decide to congregate in?

Thanks, John

We have been to Euro Disney. You will have no language problems. English, French, and German were the dialects used most, so the announcements were very entertaining and educational. Best Space Mountain ever of WDW, DL and Euro Disney. Interesting difference in we noticed on our visit was that the Europeans love the shows more than the rides so the longest waits were to get into the shows while the rides were walk ons or short lines. Also the men and boys rode the rides while the woman and girls did not, but they went to all the shows. We enjoyed Euro Disney. I hope you get to go. Please report what you thought if you do go. Enjoy your European vacation.

Thanks Mike,

Short ride lines sounds excellent for those of us who prefer the action. Looking forward to it now, hope it fits in our schedule (and budget). We will make it a point to ride Space Moutain, too (just have to take turns babysitting Laran). Did you see any of the shows? Is it possible that their shows are really that much better, or do you think it's just their cultural preference?

Such a gentleman.

Did you hear about the blond following the snow plow truck? The driver finally stopped and ask her why she was following him. She replied that her dad always told her that if the snow got too bad, to get behind a snow plow truck. The driver responded, "But I plowing the Wal Mart parking lot!"

Y'all gotta get up earlier ... Now I feel like Jennifer, Karen, and disdbltrbl wishing you'd stay up later. Laran is still asleep, Lara has long ago left for work, done with email, done with DISboards, and I have nobody to talk to. Guess I'll get back to "work." Laundry, sweep floors, some "light" reading suggested for the pending job. I feel like Cinderella.

But on the upside, while my house is socked in a winter storm, it's supposed to reach about 50 degrees here :)

Oh, for those of you who post via cell phone, and can't get the smilies to work, the situation is the same on a computer with a wirless USB stick modem. That's what we got here.

You can still post all the smilies, as long as you can remember their text code. For example to post a :) , just type colon-right parenthesis. I guessed at the :welcome: , which was colon-w-e-l-c-o-m-e-colon. So just remember your favorite ones, or find one in somebody else's post, temporarily quote them, copy the text for the smilie, and paste it in your post.

How did everyone weather the storm? I would guess the Midwest is at the tail end of it by now. The Northeast might still be getting hit?

With so many people off work, I expect to see a run for another prize this morning.

THANK YOU for that explanation!!! We've been trying to figure out WHY the smilies don't work on the laptop. There's about five of them that do and the rest don't. Now the mystery is solved! :goodvibes

We're still getting snow this morning. There's about a two foot drift outside my front door....or it could be 2 feet of snow across my entire front yard. I don't know. I'll know more in a little while when it gets a little lighter outside. It doesn't seem like the wind is blowing now...it's just coming straight down, and it's not light but it's not heavy....it's thick and constant and falling fast.

GOOD MORNING, WELL LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW HERE WE ONLY GOT ABOUT 4 INCHES BUT ITS WINDY. I HEAR THE PLOW, LATER I WILL SHOVEL THE DRIVEWAY. ITS STILL SNOWING A BIT BUT I DONT THINK WE ARE GOING TO GET WHAT THEY SAID.

We do not have snow plows, so can we borrow Junior please. Stay safe!

 I'm not sure you'll want to borrow him after I tell you this: Last night he was doing someone else's route that he's not familiar with. He sent me pictures on the cell phone of his accident. :scared1::scared1::scared1: He's ok. He hit a curb (since he's not familiar with that route) and it tore the plow off of the truck and messed up the truck. OOPS!!!!!!! It was one of the older trucks, thank God! SO, do you still want to borrow him? :rotfl2:

You be safe there too! I think I'd rather deal with two feet of snow than a FRACTION of an inch of ice! I HATE ice! I put my face through a driver side window and totalled my car due to black ice. I HATE ice. I tend to almost hyperventilate when I have to drive on icy roads. It's NOT pretty! So anyone that's dealing with ice, PLEASE be safe!

It wouldn't be quite so bad here in the Chicago area if we didn't have to deal with the winds.

I'm glad you didn't get 30 inches of snow!!!
