Andy, went to get my milk tonight.....there was only three whole gallons in the whole store. I got one of the last ones. Can you believe it?? Bread was gone too. Storm should hit sometime tomorrow...I am ready though.

Everyone in Chicago/Wisconsin/Indiana areas....please be careful tomorrow and Wednesday. Hope everyone is prepared and ready for this blizzard. My school has already been cancelled for the afternoon classes tomorrow. So that is good, I can get home sooner. Blizzard should start right around middle of the day, so take care everyone. Check in from time to time and let us know how you are doing and I will do the same. Thinking of you all....HUGS!!

Stay safe everyone!! Our power went out just after midnight the other night. It woke the boys up when it did. We ended up all sitting on the sofa for about an hour chatting. It was kind of nice. But, I was sad we had no cookies. I realized that it's become our family tradition to have cookies and milk when the power goes out. Guess I'm going to have to buy an emergency stash of Chips Ahoy to throw in the box with the flashlights, corded phone, and candles (sorry Andy, we do use hurricane covers).

As it turns out, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for a few financial benefits. Lara has all her stuff paid for through her job (she is working while here). Laran's an my flight over here were paid with air-miles. They let Lara have a 2 bedroom apartment, a car, a food allowance, and a small additional stipend. The only real additional cost we have is internet (15 pounds per month, unlimited) and weekend excursions.

Speaking of which, has anyone been to Euro Disney (France)? Lara is talking about going there some weekend, but we need to book it very soon. She said they have two parks, and it is common for everyone to load up "tupperware" bowls at breakfast for the whole day to snack on, but that's about all I know. No wonder we see so many foriegners smuggling stuff off the buffets in the states. I hope they speak English, or else we're screwed. I don't know any French, and while Lara had something like 3 years of French in high school, I doubt she could help much. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

We are thinking about taking the slow boat back to the states when we return. Prices on the Queen Mary 2 are slightly higher than airfare back, and assuming that Laran would be less, it might be about the same. About one week from London to New "Yawk" with no stops. I don't know if I would be able to do nothing for that long, but it should be a taste of the days of the Titantic. This is all contingent on if the folks at my upcoming job will allow me to stay here that long.

As far as the on-board, embarkation day meet, do you know if we could use the Outlook Lounge? I had read about it and thought that might be a nice place for us if it is available. That event is your baby so I just wanted to float the idea.

I am certainly open to any and all suggestions. I have never done this before, so right now our options are completely open. Does anyone know if the location in the past was pre-arranged with DCL, or was a place designated and people showed up?

Hey midwest friends I echo other people here please be careful in the snow.
I went and did my shopping today and it was crowded worse than Christmas. Good thing people are taking this serious.
Side note our daughter was married during the storm of 99. Made for an intersting day.
Anyone else here remember 1967? That was fun, I was just a kid.

That's one BIG plus for having the wedding at Disney (of course in July, not much chance of snow in Chicago).

For the DIS meets (either on land or sea), a place and time were just designated ahead of time and people showed up. In 2009, we met at Beach Club Villas before the cruise since a lot of people were staying at BCV & Boardwalk before the cruise, then we met in the Promenade Lounge on embarkation day, at the sail away party, and then on the second day at Castaway Cay at the DJ booth to toast a DIS member who was not on the cruise and to request that the DJ play a Jimmy Buffet song. In 2010, since we were scattered all over we did not have a DIS meet on land. We just had one on embarkation day and people could meet up at the Sail Away party in a designated sopt if they wished.

GOOD MORNING I THINK WE ARE JUST STARTING TO GET THIS ROTTEN (AMERICAN) WINTER BLIZZARD. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GET JUST OVER A FOOT. GUESS I WILL HAVE TO BRING THE SHOVEL OUT OF GARAGE FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS WINTER. GLAD I HAVE MY WINTER TIRES ON THE MIATA LAURA IS WORKING NIGHTS AT THE HOSPITAL SHE WILL NEED THE ESCAPE. GUESS I WILL BE GOING BOWLING IN THE MIATA TONIGHT. MUST GET OUT MY TOQUE AND GLOVES BRRRRRRRR!!!!!! WISH WE WERE DOWN IN FLORIDA RIGHT NOW. NEXT WED WE FLY DOWN. HMMMM, LETS SEE I GET MY MORNING COFFEE AROUND 7am, STOP BY THE SUE AND THE COFFEE CLUB THEN WALK AROUND THE TOP DECK, GRAB MY DRINK HOLDER. GET A CONK COOLER, I THINK I COULD PULL UP A DECK CHAIR INFRONT OF THE EXERCISE ROOM AND WATCH. LIFT MY DRINK UP DOWN UP DOWN UP DOWN ALL GONE BACK TO THE ADULT POOL DO MY LAPS AROUND THE POOL STOOLS IN THE WATER NEAR THE BAR.
