That should be a Tag! :rotfl: Where's a Tag Fairy when you need one? :thumbsup2

Look at me...I did not even see that I AM rhyming... :rotfl2: but we do need those two days at CC. That island is the reason we go on these cruises every year...the only way I survive the loooooongggggg CT winters is thinking about those hammocks and those little blue floats.

I have done nothing for this cruise but complain how I have done nothing yet.
I am so in the mood to watch a little Capt Jack-maybe I can convince the girls to put on POC.

We are so sad that summer is over....thank goodness this cruise is on the Horizon

Have a great day everyone pirate: princess: princess: princess: princess:

We also downloaded software that lets us rip shows from our Tivo to the ipod format. I think DD should be good and busy for the plane ride.

OOOOHHH, now I want an video Ipod! But I don't know if I can justify it, since I just got the Nano. Besides, my daughter would want to use it all the time to watch her Disney channel stuff!

Yeah, well, I justified it by saying that my 4yo could not have a better iPod than me! What the hell?!! It's only money. :P

I told her teacher and she (jokingly of course) said that if she puts that answer on the test, she would get extra credit.

Can you imagine not tipping? That just seems mean. On our Alaskan cruise the charge the tips to the room automatically, but we had the choice to stop that and tip directly, which we did. That way we knew who was getting the tips. We had great servers and wanted to make sure that got more than the average. Plus there were a couple of waiters in the bar that were great to DH and I. But for the life I me I still don't understand tipping the Head Server. On our last cruise I only saw him on the first and last night for a total of 20 minutes.

Again, this is my first cruise, so I have no prior experiences to base it on, but if we receive service on the ship that compares to what has been described on this thread, they earn their tips. I have made envelopes to put the tips in that have disney characters printed on them. We did this for "Mousekeeping" at the resorts for both of our WDW trips and they were a big hit.

We just ordered our daughter an Ipod video... we liked it so much we ordered two more.... They have disney channel shows for $1.99/each on iTunes... or you can buy a whole season for some amt.

That's one good thing about flying cross country, the in flight entertainment. Alaska airlines has inflight movies. But we are flying out at 11pm so I have a feeling that I will be sleeping rather than watching movies. Oh who am I kidding I will be too excited to sleep! :yay:

Could someone please take the side of my daughter and convince me why a 10 year old needs and IPod!

My dad got one as a gift from work and wanted to give it to Rekha and I said no. She is no way taking that to school. Other than school she is with me or at grandma's. Both homes have 3 tv each with Muchmusic and MTV, various CD and DVD players and computers. In here room she has a DVD player and a CD player.

In the car I have a disc changer and we like the same music.

Where does the IPod fit in? Needless to say she is quite upset :guilty:

My DD8 has one because I had one (Ipod shuffle) and wanted the Nano, and I used her as an excuse to get a Nano ("I can give my old Ipod to you and get a new one!". But seriously, I download all my music now. I hate buying a CD with 15 songs on it, and only liking 4 or 5 of them. This way, I can pick and choose what I want, don't have to go to the store to buy it, and because DD and I like some of the same music, I can put the songs on her Ipod and mine. And I don't have to burn the songs on CD's to listen to, I can just download them to the Ipods. DD uses hers mostly on airplanes and long car rides. We fly alot because DH works and lives in Washington DC, and we go there to visit him.

I think it really comes down to a couple of factors. First it's the cool factor. An ipod is a cool "it" thing to have. I'm sure some of her friends have them and she would love to show her's off. Secondly she won't always listen to the same music as you. I know that my mom, sister and I all listen to the same thing, which is amazing considering our ages are 56, 32 and 16. But we do each like some things that the other doesn't. So it's nice when we are all together to listen to our own thing. Considering it's free I would jump on it! DH's was not and trust me I would have loved to have gotten one for free! :teeth:

Okay guilt is eating me alive, I will reconsider on the IPod.

Avon has a Disney Tinkerbell "Flirt" watch for 19.99 CAD. Tink is on a pink face with lime green band. Rekha loves Tinkerbell and I would like to get her this for the cruise. Have any of you seen this? Would I get a better price on it if I wait till we are in WDW?

I read reviews for sandisk's sansa e270 and I think for $180.00 I am going to go that route. I really (really) like the ipods, but the one I want is in the $300.00 range. I don't see that happening. Mekayla has my old 512mb mp3 player. She uses it ALL THE TIME! It's plenty for her. I just want something for the flight cause we're doing a red eye too, and I just know I won't be able to sleep so I want to sit and knit and music would be a good thing. I was at the apple store in Portland and I walked in and asked questions, but the clerk was less than helpful. He lost a sale that day. I'll bet if he tried to show me some cool features I would have walked out of there with the U2 ipod. But, he didn't try so I didn't buy. Oh my god I am rhyming too...you know it's close to cruise time now! :cool1:

I think that's a good price! I bought the 50th anniversary watch from the avon catalog when it was $14.99 and I wear it a lot. I am sure I would have paid $25-$35 dollars for something similar at DL when we were there last year.

I just realized we're hitting WDW & DL during the 50th anniversary event! That's so cool. I heard they spruced up Cinderella's Castle a little, too. That will be cool to see. Anyone know if they're doing Cinderellabration on the 15th? I know the 16th is the last ever day they're doing it... I would like to see it, even though Cindy's not my favorite princess.

My all time Favorite Disney Princess is Amanda, then Princess Aurora is a close second. But only in the blue dress! It makes me crazy that they put her in a pink dress to differentiate between Cindy. Ugh pink! :furious: Call me Merryweather! ::yes::

Anyway, DD had a science test a week or so ago over plants and one of the definitions was "cell". Well, after church on that Sunday, we went to a local Mexican restaurant for lunch. We were waiting for our food to be served and I thought I would just quiz her a little bit. I asked her if she knew what a "cell" was and she said, "Yes, it's when the stores at the mall lower the prices on the clothes because they are getting ready to get new ones in."

That's a Classic! :rotfl: I love it! :lmao:

Tonight is "Meet the teacher" night at Mekayla's school. This is the first year that she's doing the latch key kid thing. No more $400.00 a month daycare :jumping1: I am a little more than freaked out about her being home alone for two hours after school. We went to Home Desperate (Home Depot) yesterday to get her keys, and the new key to the deadbolt doesn't work! UGH! So after we meet the new teacher we'll be back to Home Desperate to try again. I asked my boss "Lucifer" if I could come in early next week and take longer lunches so I can run home and "watch" Mekayla get off the bus and get into the house. Is that crazy? :confused3 I am so stressed about her staying home. Some lolo put up a thread about the craziest things you did as a kid when you were home alone, and of course like a dork I read it... so now I am even more freaked out! :guilty: Thank goodness she doesn't have any siblings at home to torment her or egg her on to do stupid (dangerous) stuff.

I have a Nano Zen, in pink my favorite color. Let me just add that pink was my favorite color back before Steel Magnolias came out. So Pink really is my signature color! :teeth: http://us.creative.com/products/products.asp?category=213&subcategory=214&product=11518 It's a cool little thing and it holds just the right amount of songs for me. And it's super small. Eric got it for me a few years ago, but I say them for sale the other day for around $50. I think I have about 10 albums on it. And I know it can hold alot more. I hate going to the apple store, they act like such snobs there. I bought Eric's Ipod online because I wanted it engraved. As for all the accessories I get them at circut city or best buy. I avoid the Apple store at all costs.

The IPod I had mentioned was an Apple. Do I have to buy the music from IPod? I can download music for free (sorry Thea!) so I have tons of mp3's in my hard drive. Will the IPod store those?

DD is will be 9 in Nov. and she is getting one for Christmas. Almost all of the children in her class already have them, cell phones also. I broke down and got her a cell phone when school went out last year to reward her for her good grades. I think kids just grow up too fast, or at least faster than we did. I remember getting my first walkman and thinking I was hot. It played cassette tapes. My DD doesn't even know what a cassette tape is. I can't wait to see what her child will ask for when it gets in 3rd grade.

How old is Mekayla? I think I remember you saying she is 9. My DD will be 9 in November and, while after school is not an issue for us, she has been asking to stay at home alone on weekends when I run to the office for an hour or two to finish things up. She is a very responsible child. She knows the rules and follows them even when I'm not around (except for when she is at her Dads where there are no rules at all). She isn't afraid to be alone, and in fact gets angry because I won't agree to let her stay. I have thought about it, but haven't been to do it yet. My office is no more than a mile away and she knows the number. What do you guys think?

Well guys, I typed the letter for DD's school requesting the Educational Enchancement Days to excuse DD's absences, and took it to the Principal today when I picked her up. As promised, the request was granted. They said that she would have to stand and give an oral report of what she did on the cruise for the class and will have one week to make up all missed work. Her teacher has promised to give us all the busy work that she will miss on Thurs, Sept 14th, which is the last day she will be in school before we leave for Florida. We are going to work on it Thurs night and during the trip down and back. I am so glad that the school has cooperated so well with us on this.

I will not get to post much tonight. DD has a game to cheer at and then a spelling test to study for. You guys see how many pages of posts you can make me catch up on tomorrow.
