When are you going again?

I was thinking of going sometime during Xmas week if I visit my sis in St Pete since it is about an hour drive from there. But I wouldn't do the parks if it is that crowded. How about Downtown Disney and the hotels?

HELLO!!

BUTTONS!! YES!!! I haven't even seen them yet, but would like 2 for us please if we haven't "missed the boat" :lmao:
Can everyone please "count me in for 2" of anything that's being ordered. Just in case I miss a few days and some creative person designs and orders something ... keychains, magnets, cups, shirts. I don't want to miss out on anything!! :goodvibes

Karen

I was waiting for you...I knew would probably want some. ;) I have posted the design for the pins and also 2 other designs that you could use for your door signs/shirts. If you want the full size jpeg, PM me your email address and I'll forward to you.

Have a good week end. I am heavy duty housecleaning. Having the church choir over Sunday, and then all the graduation craziness begins. The relatives start arriving next week end. Have a 20 yesr old niece coming to work on the beach for the summer. My sister comes for three weeks to visit with my mother. Her fa,ily is coming with her for one week. My brother and nephew are coming for the same week.

That's a full house! Sending pixie dust your way to help you clean up faster. :wizard: (If only it would be that easy, then I would never have to get off from this chair) :lmao:

BTW, love your avatar. :cloud9:

Our first trip ever to WDW was for a Spring Break land/sea. The land portion was the thur.-sun . before easter. It was INSANE! Now I had nothing to compare it too. So I just assumed that the parks were always like that. Then as my love of Disney grew I found out how insane it was to go that week. You see my DH has a crowd phobia, so needless to say it was a tough week. When we went again for our honeymoon in Sept 04 it was heaven. :cloud9: DH has made it crystal clear that we are never going during a holiday again. And when we have kids, we are pulling them out of school just so we can go off season with less crowds. So I am very sad to say that I will never see a NYE in WDW.

NYE was a madhouse! There were waits so long just to get food! ANd you did not want to leave the park for fear of not getting back in. ALso you had t oget there fairly early so as they did not reach capacity b4 you got there. SO we were there from basically opening until well after midnight.....Dont get me wrong ! It was a once in a lifetime experieince! And I am glad I can say I did it, but never again. THere were 200min + waits for the mountains. We were at MK. Other things had 120 min waits. We ended up riding the TTA many many many many times! LOL And the closer it got to midnight it seemed the more crowded it got! BUT I think mkore people just gathered around main street for the fire works. At one point starting about 1130, the bridge to 2mrrw land was so crowded you could not move. I mena we could not even weave in and out of people, you were blocked! Now keep in mind ,this was NYE in MK probably the busiest park of the evening.
Now my friend went to WDW the week b4 Xmas this year and she had a great time. She told me that it was more crowded than when we went for Star Wars weekends, but that it was doable! She said the parks were gorgeous with the decorations, and she loved it! When are you going again?

Let's see what you think about our plans. My DD gets two full weeks off from school. We are checking into the resort on Dec. 17th and checking out on Dec. 29th. My plan is to do all the riding we want to do the week before Christmas. We are doing MVMCP on the 19th. We are doing Le Cellier with reserved seating for Candlelight Processional on Christmas Day. Then on Dec. 26-28th, we are going to go to the parks with the mind set of enjoying the Christmas entertainment, parades, shows, etc. We will ride a few rides earlier in the morning, or when we can get a fastpass. Eating will cost a fortune, because to avoid the long lines, I am going to make ADR, which I still call PS, for every meal that we plan to take inside the parks. DD will not do will waiting an hour to get a burger, and then not being able to find a seat to sit down to eat it. I figure it is worth the extra food cost just to guarantee that we will have a seat to sit down it. Also, and I know that I will live to regret this one, I promised DD that I would rent a stroller. She is much too big, and I do not look forward to trying to get the thing through the crowds, but at least she will have a place to lay down and rest during the day and we will have a place to store our backpacks and the things we buy during the day. She of course won't ride in it all the time, she will be 9 at the time. I figure we will put our stuff in it and find a good place close to what ever part of the part we are in to leave it sitting until she gets tired and wants to rest. We probably won't do it again either, but we watched a special on the travel channel about Christmas at WDW and all the gingerbread and chocolate displays that the resorts, the parades and Christmas decorations. We want to do it just once just to see it all.

I have taken my DD out of school twice for WDW and will be taking her out in Sept. for the cruise. We have done WDW in Oct and Mar. Oct was my favorite. We were there ten day and never saw a drop of rain. Beautiful weather, no crowds and Epcot had the Food & Wine Festival going. March was good also as far as having no crowds, but the weather wasn't as good. We were there eight days, and it rained two of them. Two of the other days were very cold.

We are going to do this Christmas trip and then all of our future trips will be Sept or Oct trips.

We LOVE Christmas at DL. :santa:

I bet WDW is very magical for Christmas and NYE. pixiedust:

We homeschool, so when we travel is not an issue. I learned to appreciate an added bonus VERY much when we were on the May Repo last year. Since most families could not pull their kids out the last two weeks of school, my kids had the run of the ship along with just a few dozen others (compared to 1000+ kids on the August Repo). :woohoo:

I understand the older kids, but giving elementary parents grief for pulling their kids for a few days seems very odd to me. I think it all comes down to $$ for most school districts. :guilty:

I wanted to also share that we still sometimes take our old "mini pop-up style" stroller to DL (and my kids are 10, 11.5 and 13) if we will be there all day. It is great storage for change of clothes (we take the Rapids ride VERY seriously!), jackets, blanket for the ground at parade time, water bottles and snacks. It is cheaper than a locker and it moves with you. ;)

Is anyone coming out to DL this year ?? I would love to meet up prior to the cruise. :wizard:

Hello Karen!

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one that uses the stroller as a storage buggy.

DD and I a DL trip planned for June, but she has some medical issues that we are dealing with and is having physical and electrical stimulation therapy every Saturday. We have changed insurances since her original surgery and since this is follow up that it, our new insurance has considered it pre-existing, which means that I get to pay for the therapy myself. This has made a June trip across the country financially not possible right now. Her therapy is schedule to last through June. We have cancelled all reservations for DL and booked the Christmas trip to WDW. I have promised DD that I will do my best to make it to DL next year.

wow we got very quiet, or every one is very busy. I took a quick peek before my cook out starts. The weather stinks so I am going to have every one in my house instead of in the pool.

Have a good Sunday.

Hello! I hope the weather cleared up for you. I have spent my day cleaning. My garage had become a catch-all. Anything I didn't know what to do with or just didn't want to deal with, I threw into the garage. I have a two car garage and I haven't been able to park one car in it all winter. We cleared it out today. My ex-husband has a truck load of stuff that he is taking to a local community center tomorrow to give away for me. Perfectly good stuff that we just don't need any more. I save everything.

Anyway, I hope your cook out ended up going well.

Thanks, all went well. It was not warm enought for the adults, but the kids had a blast. It was a going away party for one of our choir members. They are moving to Alaska(Air Force). It's always sad to see them go. But exciting to be moving to a new place. Had about thirty people. It was fun.
Have a good Monday.

Hello my fellow cruisers!

The buttons sounds great - we'll take 4 for our group. Thanks ever so much for doing the legwork to get this organized!

We still have LOTS of room for more pics on our gallery. So, if you've got one you'd like to include (or more than one if you'd like) just send it to me and my dh will put it up. Email the pic to: rhonda.hare@verizon.net

We have been very busy here - this is dd's last week of kindergarten so we've got end-of-year activities etc. and ds is turning 3 next week. I am also headed to WDW this weekend to run in the "Women Run the World" Minnie Marathon 15K on Sunday. I am arriving Friday night and returning Monday night. DH is staying home with the kids so I can meet a good friend (a DISer I met on our DCL trip on 2001) for the weekend. We are going to the Adventurer's Club (twice hopefully) as well as having tea at the GF, a pedicure at SSR spa, dinner at 'Ohana etc. It should be lots of fun and I can't wait to be there!!

I am seriously thinking of mailing some items down to the ship (like our pirate costumes) but I am worried about how to get them back home. I guess we could always stop at a Mailbox place on the way to the airport in Orlando and mail it there. I just know we'll have TOO MUCH luggage even without the costumes so I am trying to think of ways to help.

Gotta run but I'll try to check in here again a few times this week before I head to Orlando!

Good luck this week end. Say hi to Cam...........

I have been feeling miserable, with a cold since Saturday. I am keeping DD4 at home b/c I do not feel stable enough to drive. I ge dizzy whenever I get up. Hope this goes away soon :furious:

Rhonda, hope you have a great time. I think I got an order from everyone so we are good to go with 30 buttons! :cheer2:

Stay healthy everyone!

:surfweb: Good morning all. Well we finally finished our spare bedroom. I love Ikea, just in case there was any question! :yay: So overall it was a very busy weekend. I am looking forward to next weekend, where I have absolutly nothing to do!

Sirena, sorry to hear that your feeling bad. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the good wishes. I doubt I'll be able to sleep w/ two kids here but I'll try to close my eyes for little intervals.

I love IKEA too but there's none close by. :sad2: Next month I am going away for two weeks :woohoo: and plan to make a quick stop there.

Hey guys,
Check out this thread with ideas DIS Meets Ideas
I looked at the wristband link and the price isn't that bad. For an order of 40 it would come to around $2.15 each or for and order of 20 would be $2.47. Here's what one of the other cruisers looked like. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1059577&page=2&pp=15. Pretty cool idea. I could pick these up if anyone is intrested! Of course ours would say Double Scoop 9-16-2006! :teeth:
