That is correct. We had to prove that this trip would be educational and Maddie has to do a 3 page report about the Chacobben Ruins (sp). We are so excited and can not believe that it is almost here.

Grr that just bugs me! Why does the school have so much control over what we can and cannot do with our children??? There are some that say, well you get 2 months off in the summer and yada yada yada....Well, if I worked at a place that told me I had to take my vacation from x date to x date every year, with no flexibilty as to when the rest of my family was able to get time off, well I wouldt be employed there very long. Times have changed and the days of Mon thru Fri, 8a to 5pm, is not the norm anymore. Grr ok I ll shut up now...it just really really bugs me....my kids never lay out of school just to lay, and are very rarely out sick....they also make good grades in school....so why cant I do with them as I please (re missed days of school?) ok shutting up now promise

I went to the Verizon Store ~ met Mekayla's teacher, forgot to go to Home Desperate ~ I left my phone with them for an hour so they could upload the current software and bought a $29.99 music transfer cable and disk drive and uploaded all my songs that are on my laptop and now I am playing songs on my phone! I have no idea how long the phone will play songs with a full battery but I can charge it off the laptop in the cabin! EEEEEEE! I don't have to drop $$$ for a portable player after all. I should probably get an extra battery off ebay though for the phone 'cause I am sure I'm gonna' go through a few of them this year. So cool, who knew?!?! I am so happy I didn't get the sandisk e270... I think I might get it in December though if the prices are good. So, next question... all the songs on my laptop are from cd's. What's a good download site? I have never downloaded songs before. All I have done is created playlists and transferred songs from disk to computer and vice versa. Anyone got input on a music download site? :confused3

All right! Send that $18o over here we can take it off your tab! I use Itunes but who knows if it is compatible with the phone....sorry no help from me huh?

Head servers are different. Some, like the one we had last cruise, was great and always stopped by to say hi and chit-chat. He even came around on lobster night with the tray to offers us more. He told me he had been fishing all day and insisted I have another one; it was really funny.
Now our first cruise was the same scenario you described. We tipped him but others at our table did not because they felt he added nothing to their vacation.
The head server is the director and often controls aspects of dinner you do not see. Celebrations, pacing on meals, and training. They are the reason why the servers are so special.
Another one that sticks in memory; we have had lunch at Lumiers only once on 2 trips. The trips were 5 years apart but after we were seated and our order was taken the head server came over and made us feel real comfortable and welcome. He had made such an impresion on us that on our second trip we remebered we had him for lunch on our first cruise. So head servers do very.

I agree! On every cruise we have been on head server non exisitent! EXCEPT for oct 03 when PJ was it! HE was great! He is now over PALO...and this past cruise the May double DIP we had Alekandra and she was AWESOME! We saw her every evening and she would do thinkgs like cut up my DS meat, and she remembered what desserts some at our table liked (key lime pie) and brought them a slice out every night! SHE was well tipped! We liked her ALOT and hope we get her again this cruise, if she is even still on board...

Well the dumb a** that is my kids father has decided he will not sign the letter I need noterized for the kids to travel.

What was I thinking 10 years ago, oh yeah ..I wasnt thinking!!

Aw man! What does this mean??? PS I took my DS on the Wonder in Jan without DH and we didnt sign anything extra stating that I was "allowed" to do so. Is yalls last names still the same? I mean if it is,how would they know that you are just not a mom on vacation.like I was, and not divorced??

Seeing this is DW and I's 5th DCL cruise, but DD's first...our first priority is to spoil her rotten. princess: We have a $200 credit from rebooking on board 2 years ago that my wife has already said we are spending on everything my daughter wants. :tinker: We are forgoing any spa treatments, excursions, etc. so that we can focus on her and her whims. Now that is not to say we will not spend our fair share on Konk Koolers (which by the way we have mastered at home thatnks to DW's Disney Cookbook!), Decaf Irish Coffees for late night strolls around deck 10 with my Cuban Cigars bought in Cozumel! :drinking1
We have also become quite fond of Capitan Morgans pirate: ....my wife now buys what she calls "the alcoholic 1 gallon jug". I plan to pick up a bottle in Orlando to add to our Diet Cokes at the pool!

We are in 6096 ...DW is a master at door signs!
Looking forward to double dipping with everyone! :woohoo:

See if she can MASTER a few for me?? LOL I suck at stuff like that! So unless someone makes me a sign Iwill not have one....

DCL does not require it but US immigration may and Canadian immigration will on our return.

If I have any problems and we get denied entry to the US, I will promptly return home and take him to court and sue him for all costs, mental anguish and everything else that I can put a price on!

I really dont understand the returning problem? We ARE returning so its not like Im stealing my kids away. I do walk with birth certificates, health cards, passports and government issued custody papers, so there should not be an issue whether the kids are really Canadian. I would sell my two to the Mexican black market before I buy TWO more and try and sneak them home :teeth:

LOL Phew...so DCL is aok..USA may be Aok but there will be a problem on the return home?? Ah well as long as you get to cruise everything will be G_REAT!

What a jerk! I'm amazed at how parents can just turn their backs on their kids. If he's not going to take them anywhere, why in the world would he not agree to sign the necessary papers so you can? What is Canadian law on this? Here, you could just petition the Court for an order (which the Judge would absolutely grant) and go on. What do you need to do to be able to bring the kids?

I am so lucky. I am divorced, but my ex and I get along great. Those who have been on the thread for a while know that we all go out to dinner together and everything. He doesn't take DD places often, but it's because he doesn't go himself. He is self-employed and doesn't have people he trusts to take care of things while he's gone. He feels guilty about this and to make up for it, he helps me pay for our vacations. He gave me $500.00 to put toward the cruise itself. DD is saving money to spend on what ever she wants and from time to time he gives her ten or twenty dollars to add to it. Last night he told me that he will give me some spending money before we leave. On top of all of this, his DS and DBIL are letting us drive a vehicle off their dealership lot so that I don't have to put so many miles on my vehicle driving to Florida.

In fact, DD is home from school today sick and I am sick also. My ex is picking up the prescriptions that my doctor called in for us and bringing them to me along with some milk and bottled water. I'll have to remember to say a special "Thank You" when he gets here.

That is very nice. I am glad to hear that not all divorces end up in hate. Some people are better off friends then spouses and it sounds like you and your EX fit that bill.....I love my DH so much right now, that if God forbid we did get a divorce I could not imagine being hateful towards him or him towards me....

Has anyone ever done the Hidden Mickey Hunt on the ship? This is one of DD's favorite things to do at WDW. When we look through the picture threads on this board, we are always looking in the backgrounds of the pictures for Hidden Mickeys that they may have accidentally picked up. We even do it at home. You would be amazed at how many Mickeys you can find in the world if you are looking for them.

never done it on board but I do have the "oh look! A hidden Mickey" sickness that plagues so many of us Disney freaks and only confuses those who are not affected!

Well everyone wish me luck as I am off to the dentist this afternoon. I had a crack in my tooth that I didn't really think anything of until last week when it started hurting soooooo bad. Well I was not about to let it bother me on vacation. So I went to the dentist and the took xrays and he said to come back today, they might have to do a root canal. :guilty: Now I have a deeeeeeeep fear of dentist that stems from a bad experience as a child, so I am not looking forward to this. :sad2: So if everyone could please say a little prayer for me around 1pm west coast time I would really appreciate it.
i KNOW IT IS OVER AND DONE WITH AND i WILL KEEP READING TO FIND OUT HOW THINGS WENT BUT i HOPE AND PRAY THAT EVERYTHING WENT WELL!

Yes I will be coming, Icky (his name is Ricky) after all his huffing and puffing and refusals, ended up signing the papers. Got a call from the lawyers office telling me signed them this afternoon. Im am sure Rekha will appreciate Sadie's compliment.

Gail - I think its great that you and your ex can have a successful and supportive relationship after a breakup. I will not have that ever. My kids father is a very ignorant, and unhappy individual. I realized this a year after Rekha was born, but stayed with the relationship living for this dream I had in my head that all would be right one day. Aaahhhh the ignorance of youth, If it aint "right" right now it never will be was the lesson learned.

Asha, not trying to be so personal or anything but this always makes me curious when I hear of couples divorcing....do you think you loved him and fell out of love, or do you think that you were in love with love, and once that faded the rose colored glasses came off? Any of you that have been divorced please feel free to weigh in...
Like I said I love my DH dearly and I cant imagine being divorced....but yet I hear of couples getting divorces at 10,20 30 years of marriage..that is kinda scary..you would think that after 10 years one would have it down pat and the bumps the road would be few and far between.... BTW DH and just had our 13th anni..

I'm back and I can't feel anything from my nose to my neck! ! :teeth:

YAY! That means it went well right? If you cant feel anything that includes pain too! Did you have to get a root canal?

WOw you guys are lucky. Here in GA they have to be 12 yrs old to be alone at home. CJ has been asking me to stay home since he too was about 9, and I have been telling him 12, 12 , 12...well that happens next July...guess who hasnt forgotton...I will deal with it when it hits me, but he too is a very responsible child so I am thinking it will not be a problem....Gail I think you should trust your gut...if your gut is telling you it will be okay, I say try it on a trial basis with specific ground rules.Based on what you have said I think everything will be fine...and you will find that I am not one of those "look down my nose at your personal decision" tpyes....you know the ones right? The ones who would "NEVER" leave little JOhnny at home alone because of all the evil in the world...oh and by the way little JOHNNY is 18! LOL Can you tell those types irritate me??? HEHE

You and Me both! I have stopped reading the posts on the Disney Theme Parks threads because everyone turns into a debate on who has morals and who doesn't. I just wanted to pull my hair out. :furious: There is no way some of these people stick to the same standards that they argue everyone should live by. Wouldn't just love to talk to some of these peoples' families and friends to see just how perfect they really are?
