I don't do quotes well, can you tell.

If you are planning on staying at a Disney resort before the cruise pick a resort that has DCL pick up. I think that only the resorts that are part of the land/sea package have it.

I think we are going to stay at POFQ. We are going down on Thursday morning. I hope they do a MNSSHP that Friday night. Our group really wants to go.

I had just a few simple initial responses I had to post.... IN bright FLAMING MAGENTA!

Hi, I'm Janet. I will be traveling with Mouser/Lois/Grandma4ever.....

1) Favorite music/performer?
I prefer various rock artists. Mostly from the 70s and 80's. I like some of the oldies.Cool...

2) Favorite dish?
ceramic I expected this sooner... but just the same ... I'll contribute some chuckles here!

3) Any Pets?
I pretty much have three dogs and two cats. I really like dogs. I have had pets for as long as I can remember. Wow, it seems everyone has vast collections of "critters" - while we're punished and deprived with one loney but gentle and lovable 110 pound Sammy!

4) Any hobbies? Or how about substituting your greatest casual interests?
I am active in Tai Chi (Chen style). My spouse is pretty involved with Tai Chi too. Later when I corner her for responses here maybe I'll squeeze a little out of her to post on her Tai Chi style and such!

I love cop shows. It started with my desire to be a a police officer. I majored in CJ. I had a major reality alert while in college. I realized that I would not make a good cop for the following reasons.

A. I don't like blood. (first to arrive to a scene of an accident)
B. I'm scared of the dark. (I'm sure how you can see how that could be a problem)
C. I have no sense of direction (I'd be stopping at 7 Eleven for directions on 911 calls).
D. I have no ability to describe people (putting out an APB on someone with a couple arms and legs isn't too discriptive)

needless to say the world including myself are better off with me watching cop shows after hours and a social worker for employment.

Now this response dreqw real laughs from me. Thanks for sharing your insights and observations on this. We'll now not worry at your absence at evening deck parties or on deck late nite - as I am sometimes inclined to patrol with my nite owl children who still feel its' OK to roam the decks at 2AM with dear Ol' Dad because it still is really an hour til midnite back home!

5) Any rants?
I have issues with extremely arrogant people and the fact that there is no spell check on this site.Actually - I can DEAL with arrogant people as they sometimes amuse us folks who uunderstand what real arrogance is since we only answer to the one true absolute authority in the Cosmos... our spouse!

6) A surprising thing you've encountered, seen or experienced?
I passsed college algebra. I was none too hot with my academic performance in college too. In fact, I should have done better in High school too excect I was sooooo distracted and lacked direction. So, it's a good thing I met my spouse who used to throw the curve in science, chemistry and math classes. Someone in our pairing has to exercise a working "noodle" in our household!

7) What region or city did you grow up in?
Woodstock Illinois (north west of Chicago). The concert was in Woodstock New York So, was the "woodstock" thing - did it influence everything in your community? Is the "groovy hippie" thing a way of life in your neck of the woods? Cuz if so then I'll have to look into the communityy as a place to visit as I would like to slow down to a "groovy hippie" state of mind (withour any narcotics) and examine what a new state of mind with a blisful stress free "Woodstock inspired" afternoon... would be like! How's that for a long winded shot at quasi-poetic non-sense?

8) What are you "NOT"?
Competitive
Does this mean we can bamboozle you into entering my Mickey Ice Cream Eating Race on our September sailing? Now, what if I were to say we'd throw in a grand prize of a "Woodsock inspired" CD compilation of tunes for the winner? DO U suppose this might get you to raise a hand to entery the "fun fray"?

Hi all. I haven't read the rest of the pages, but thought I would check in.

I booked this cruise while I was onboard the 10-day Wonder cruise. I booked it because my twin sister and her family will be going on this sailing. She has twins that will be a little over 2 years old when we sail. I was fortunate to have a verandah on the 10-night, but will be on Deck 2 this sailing. I don't have any kids, but will be bringing my SO with me. He came with me on the 10 day but was sick for 8 days, I hope he can enjoy this one. Our mom and dad booked this cruise as well.

I would love to be able to go to WDW before the cruise, but I went 5 days before the 10 day cruise and am planning a trip to DisneyLand in November '06, so I doubt it will be in my budget!!!

I am trying to get my mom and sister to post here too, they are pretty shy
.

We just got off the 11 day Wonder... so we might have crossed paths between PC and Orlando! And, welcome aboard!!!! You and your S.O. are certain to have a great time... I just know it. I consulted my magic crystal ball and it says a voyage of great happiness and adventure await you on the Magic!

Well... OK, I just made it all up, but the idea was just to wish ya' well an' welcome ya aboard! An' might I say that with so much family comin' you're certain ta have a great time!

TTFN!

Oh, and Pooh is my younger daughters' favorite Disney character! Cheers!

I could probably handle competition with eating Mickey Mouse Ice cream bars. I saw someones pictures of this.

I have no idea what the "fun fray" is. Could you enlighten me?

But the movie Groundhog Day was filmed in Woodstock.

You must live near Woodstock to know those details. Where are you located?

My step-mom works in a bank on the square where most of the filming took place. She got to interact with all those famous people.

Hi all!

We are definite DCL lovers! We will be sailing with y'all! Captn. Crash, were you on the Christmas 2005 cruise???? We were, and I think I have seen you posts there or on the DCL Pics page. Anyway, we are Tomspixie...I am Tif and DH is Tom. Imagine that! We do have three great kids who love Disney cruising as well. They however will all be in school, as their dad and I take a week every year for just each other! We will be doing the Med at the end of July, and so have pushed our private cruise back a couple of weeks.
I have noticed several Illinois families on this thread. We are in Peoria, but do have a second home in Windermere, FL...12 minutes from the parking lot at the Grand Floridian Spa!!! WOOHOO!!!

Well, thought I would give a quick intro. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome to our merry band here! Your prescence completes the circle! The party can now begin! And if you believe that, just wait until the next party joins the group cuz they'll get a similar welcome! :happytv: Heh-hee-heh!

We were not on the 2005 Christmas sailing... we were on the Labor day Eastern Magic in 2005. But I do remember THINKING about the Christmas sailing. We seem to consider it every year we think we're unscheduled for Christmas. U see, most years we do Hawaii at that time due to all the family we have out there ... but this year we did a mid year visit for a surprise birthday party for my father in law, and next year we are gathering in Italy for a family thing. So, we are planning on not visiiting Hawaii in December for 2006 and 2007. BUT of course, now some of the family who is on the big island (mainland) is talking of going to MAUI in December this year ~ they were gonna come out to California to s[end the holidays with us ... but not now so it seems... so we'll probably reconsider going again this December. BUT - my point is when we are not thinking of being in Hawaii for December then we consider doing a DCL voyage then.

By "fun fray" it's just a bit of creative license I was exercising. If you can imagine what can be done with a casual Mickey Ice Cream Bar speed eating RACE... that's about all it is. And it is fun to attend as a participant or spectator. So - as a "fun fray"... there is in fact NO wrestling or combat involved. Just grins and a little whooping and hollarin' as the participants munch away at their bars!

Thanks for the information I'm new at some of the DCL jargon as well as using anything on the computer besides email. :confused3

By the time the cruise is here-I suppose I will be an expert at this! :)

I don't know Peoria, but Windemere is beautiful. Will you be doing any diving on this trip? :fish: :fish: :fish:

I think anyone who lives in the Chicagoland area knows that Ground Hog Day was filmed in Woodstock. But then again I just asked dh and he had no idea what movie was filmed in Woodstock. My mom is a quilter and goes to that quilt show in the square. I grew up in Oak Lawn and have sinces lived in Frankfort and New Lenox.

I think it's ....

... fun to have had a film made in your home town. It is easy notariety of some sort. My spouse's home town had a movie filmed in the next town over... Monroville (misspelled?). In this neighboring own they filmed the movie Dawn of the Dead 2 - where a group of "survivors" attempt to hold off a bunch of zombies in a shopping mall - which arose from some sort of germ from space or from the military which reanimates the dead. So - her neighboring towns' claim to fame is not quite as glamorous as Ground Hog Day... which I regard as charming and funny in it's theme. At least you had a big name star in it!

Plus, my family ran a furniture store for 25 years and we had our store "rented" for a day for use in filming a scene from the Rockford FIles. The episode is "The Four Pound Brick" (season 1 episode 21, aired February 1975 ~ Rockford challenges the police contention that a rookie's death was accidental.) and I've never seen it! As I recollect they paid us $2400 to use 1/3rd of the store for about 3-4 hours. During actual filming we cleared the whole store for privacy. I met James Gardiner! Woo Hoo!

Hello all! Just got back from the September 30 Eastern and have rebooked for this cruise with Kamgen and her family! I can see she's been hiding for a while. Where are you Kamy? :confused3

Anyway, it will be me, DFi (who actually proposed just before we left on September 29! Yay! So he might be DH by then, WOW! :Pinkbounc ) and probably DS4. We have him on currently, but the decision isn't final yet.

This cruise was my first and DFi's second (his tag is Pmcougar05 but don't expect to see him on here for awhile) and it was fantastic. DS4 stayed home this time and it was nice to have some adult time. I'd really like for him to go, but he'll be starting school next year and I'm still iffy about pulling him out. I look forward to getting to know ya'll. Pardon me if I ramble, I'm still floating!

:welcome: Mommaraven and best wishes on your engagement! :bride: :groom: Congrats to your new fiance. You're going to have a busy year! :woohoo:

I miss Kamy too. I assume the family has been keeping her busy. :goodvibes

See you at the party! :jumping1:

:offtopic: Heather, (or other's in the Chicago area)

Do you know about the Vertical Challenge? It is an event that raises money for cancer research by climbing the stairs at the Sears tower. One of my new friends and cruise mates from the 11 day is doing it this year and I am going to climb next year. You live close to Chicago so I thought you might have some insight.

Iv'e been to the web site. Now I'm looking for local input :wizard:

I'm committed or maybe I should be :rotfl2:

TIA

Thanks Tigger! I'm excited!

I saw Kamy (the same day I got engaged actually) at Disney, but I think they should be home by now. I wish they lived closer so we could see each other more often. Every few months isn't enough!

I have not done the Vertical Challenge don't remember why but I do Hustle up the Hancock. One of these years I will actually do the Vertical Challenge it is only like 9 more flights. I love it. Next to childbirth it is one of the hardest things I have ever done. You think you can never do it but then you complete it and it is amazing. If you are in o.k. shape you can do it, just follow the training guide and you will be fine. My first year I signed up 3 weeks before the event and I did it. Each year it gets easier. Go for it.

Thanks for your response Heather. I have made the commitment so I will be there, God willing. I would have done it this year but I'm having surgery the first week of November. So I'll be cheering on Celeste this year (here in Florida) and climbing with her next year. Can I entice you to join us? :teeth:
