09/15/07 Early Check in September 15, 2007 Eastern

I have started my packing list...LOL! Well, not my packing list of clothes and stuff, but the unusual or off the wall items I think are important. I was inspired by a list on the main DCL discussion forum. I plan to type it up and email it to my aunt and DH parents....any tips are helpful I think!!!
I know, I am way too much of a planner!:goodvibes

Kam,

I already sent her a PM for wristbands for us. Yay! Thanks for reminding me though. When you are done with your packing list, please send me a copy. You are a much more experienced cruiser than me, so your input would be fantasmic. Muah! :flower3:

Megan- would love to send you my list! After 7 cruises I do feel experienced, but since it has been 3 years:scared1: since our last one, I might need help too!;)

I am so ready to cruise...I mean, I actually NEED the next two months to get ready....we have so much going on and time seems to fly!:teleport:
This weekend we are getting rid of Ryan's crib and moving him into his toddler bed:eek: Then next week we have the 4th of July (who knows what we are doing really:rotfl: )
Then Ryan starts his two day a week school :faint:. I am really excited for him. He got into the child development center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus. Good thing is my mom works at UM-D and it is a teaching school where future educators or grad students learn. So neat. He will get some early education and some good social interaction with other kids! :chat:
And I will get two days at home with just me and Liam!:love2: I can get housework done too!!:laundy:
Then end of July we are going up north with my cousin and her family to their cabin for a few days :sunny:. Then it is already August...which at the end of the month my MIL is coming for Ryan's 2nd birthday party! We rented a jump/bounce place out! :jumping1: so that should be fun.
Whew! :coffee: I think I will be worn out....in the mean time I need to lose more weight, shop and get ready for the cruise!!!:sail:

Not that you all wanted to hear all my crap...sorry!:thanks:

Ok... I have 7 for Kami and 7 for tinkerbell77(Tina).
I'll be doing the last head count on Thursday night.. if I can stay awake!

It's our outrigger club's birthday and we have a big BBQ. Somehow we have a BBQ and outrigger canoe races break out!:rotfl2:

So if there is anyone else wanting wristbands... dont put it off too much.

Ann :flower3:

We just purchased our airline tickets! The price dropped to $128 RT per person plus tax, which ended up only $148pp RT! I said as long as they went under $150 I would be happy....so we got them! :thumbsup2

I was complaining about my $517.60 total for the 2 of us. The prices I have seen people getting are all across the board. It is crazy.

I just love flying from Las Vegas.:sad2:
Flights are cheaper going to Vegas... but it's the flight leaving that kills ya. Boy... they want all your money, any way they can get it.:rotfl2:

Kam, that is a great price! Hey can you share your packing list? As a newbie I need all the help I can get.

As you can see I was on at midnight last night. The only thing open for Palo was dinner on Saturday night. I don't want to miss the first night in the main dining room so we are going to wait until we get on the ship. My sister's room is not paid for anyway. It will get paid today. I was able to book a two person cabana as well. It is for my sister since she can't book yet.

We went to our first water park this weekend. Jellystone camp ground/lodge in Warrens WI. We had a villa that was so nice. Kendyll loved it. She did all the waterslides. All those drops and she is still scared of the drop in Pirates of the Carribean.

Yeah, we are lucky. Flights from Detroit to Orlando are typically under $200 per person, unless it's a holiday. We have gotten them as low as $40RT with the specials...but only once. So I was holding out for a low fare, but had to bit on this one. $128pp plus tax sounded good to me!;)

I would love to share my list. Now, please keep in mind that some of this may not apply to everyone since we all have different situations and such. Hope this helps!!!

Special Packing List
power strip/extension cord
small desktop fan
over the door shoe holder- for all the bathroom items *I also put my jewelry, headbands/ponytail holders, etc in it
ziploc bags
air freshener / Glade Plug In
night light
phone cards/gifts for kids counselors
envelope of $1 bills - tipping room service
box of thank You cards - for special crew members
collapsible hamper- can hold dirty clothes, toys, beach stuff, etc
bottle water - you can re-fill the bottles on deck
Downy wrinkle release spray
3m hooks - hang things and the hook will come off without damaging anything!
highlighter - to highlight the things in the Navigator you want to do
post it notes - to leave messages for your family
chapstick with sunblock - easy to carry and you can use it on your nose, ears and scalp too
address labels - easy to stick on luggage tags
address book - bring a small one from the dollar store to collect addresses and such of new friends you meet
extra batteries - just too expensive to buy them onboard

I am still adding to this. But the best tip for anyone new is the over the door shoe holder. If you have the split bath, you could even bring two! One for shoes and one for other stuff like brushes, combs, curling iron, deodarant, toothpaste, sunscreen bottles, nail clippers, etc....all that little stuff that seems to take up a lot of space! This makes things so much easier to find and keeps everything organized.

Thank you. I have a question, is there any counter space in the bathrooms? I usually travel with cabodales (sp?). They carry everything for the trip and then I have it all there in the bathroom in one place. If there is no counter space then I will bring the shoe holder.

Well I tried to get Palo brunch last night- none available!:sad2: I guess I will try when I get on the ship. Now I might be bringing my 6 year old nephew with us on our trip. His Mom said it was okay, but we have alot of planning to do for that- because we will be down for 2 weeks. He has never been out of Maryland (where we live), and my DD would love it. Now his Mom will have to put out about $1200.00 for the whole trip, but she really wants him to go. :scared1: Plus, he will be missing 2 weeks of 1st grade, I told her it is up to her to decide about the school thing.

I think it is awesome you might bring your 6yr old nephew!! He would love the trip!!!! And I think it is well worth missing school for time with family and seeing new places and people. It is a learning experience in itself....and it is not like you do it all the time. JMHO!

Heather- there is some counterspace but it is small!!! You could put your caboodle on the floor or on the desk in the room by the mirror.

Is it time to cruise yet???

I was on at Midnight and there was no Palo brunch at all. There was only Saturday dinner. :confused3 So much for them saving some for us new people.
