Thanks Flo - actually I don't leave until Sunday. Warm - nope. We're headed to Minnesota! :lmao: We picked a mid-day flight so we could spend some time at the Mall of America. Don't know what we were thinking. Flying out on the busiest flying day of the year and going to the Mall of America the weekend after Thanksgiving.

My black Friday shopping is done. Went out to Home Depot this morning to pick up the extra lights we need for the bushes.

Now it is laundry and decorating. I lead such an exciting life. :rotfl:

Have you been to the Mall of America before?

Apparently you haven't read my blog today which tells my plans for the day. Woot!

Just read it and yes you do have some exciting plans. Are you guys decorating for Christmas this year or are you leaving everything packed until you get into your new home?

I have been to the Mall before. Mark and I have gone up for a long weekend there a couple of times. It's been a few years and quite frankly the last time we went I wasn't that impressed. It used to be full of little unique stores and now it seems it is just the same old stuff you see in every mall and in some cases multiple locations of the same store. :) Still it should be fun and a great way to get some walking in.

I'll be interested in hearing about your trip when you get back. I went there about 10 years ago and was impressed and a bit overwhelmed by the largeness of it.

Mary,

Im sorry I also stole your countdown nametags, very cool

No worries - that is part of the fun. I saw them on someone else's signature first and then went to make mine. I think they are really cute!

Mary, I love those countdown clocks. Where did you get them?

DH, DD, and I drove past the Mall of America 4 times (yes, 4) and I never got to go in  (I think DH was afraid I'd buy more shoes :rotfl: ). I'd love to hear what it's like, too.

I got them from ************** Just click on one of them and it will take you to where you make them.

As for the Mall of America - yes I remember lots and lots of shoe stores!

I know the tree will stay packed. No good place to put it here where the cat won't destroy it! :) No great place to put it in the new house, but we're trying to figure out a way to keep the cat away. The sunroom in the old house was PERFECT! (whine)

Plus we figure we have a BAZILLION decorations just down the street if we want to see those! :)

Hey, doesn't Osborne Lights open tonight? Hmmmmm

How did everyone do that went out shopping today? Got home just a little while ago.

We went to Wal Mart not early. Got my self some Blue Ray DVD’s. Steven Segal movies. Then we went to Home Depot got some things for my DH and DS. Went to Sports Authority because they had a great sale. My DS wanted a work bench got that since he is at work.

Hope everyone has a good day shopping if they went out. :)

I will say I was surprised when we pulled into the Wal Mart lot there was tons of spaces. Usually you are driving around. The inside was crowded but not to bad. I heard one of the clerks say that at 5:00 when they opened it was a zoo. But when we got there all the big items were gone. So it was not too bad. But then I went in for what I wanted and left.:)

Taking a break from my holiday decorating to share my memories with you. Today is one of my favorite days of the year - the day I decorate the Christmas tree. I love taking each ornament out of its box or wrapper and remember the memories behind it. Some are old - like the worn satin ball Santa that was given to me by a grocery store clerk when I was about 6 and is the first ornament on the tree each year. Some are from our trips, some gifts from friends.

In 2004 we sailed over Christmas and had an ornament exchange as well as some gifts of ornaments from our fellow cruisers. In 2006 for the SS Member Cruise we had a cafepress shop and one of the options you could buy was a flat ceramic ornament which I bought. We have ornaments from a number of DVC Merry Member Mixers as well. :santa:

I just love the memories that flood over me on decorating day. I hope all of you get to relive special memories like this when you decorate for your holiday no matter what holiday it may be.

Do you decorate your tree yourself? Or do you have a group of friends/family come over to help you?

Like you, I love ornaments and enjoy remembering the significance/where I bought each one. Up until the past couple of years when everyone has gotten too busy, I would invite my sisters, their kids and maybe a friend or 2 to help decorating the tree. Basically, I would make a party out of it with music, food and lots of ornaments.
