09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Good Morning!

Can you believe a week ago today we were getting off the Wonder? Boy, has this week gone by fast.

Ellen - great pictures! The one of Mary and Mark is great. Can't wait to see more.

Carrie - congrats on the potty training!

Lisa - yes, we would be taking the kids on the Alaska trip. They said no way would they stay at home. It would be great if you could try and make it as well.

Have a great day! :flower3:

Good Morning All!

No one could possibly enjoy the same great times we had on Deck 9, Mary! They were priceless!! :thumbsup2

Wish we had been able to book a dummy date when we were on the cruise but the little thing called $$$ got in the way! Still working on whether we will be able to join you guys but I sincerely hope so and will continue to plan on it!

Got all of the supplies for the big hoagie sale this Saturday for the troop. Even got all of the lunchmeat sliced yesterday. That can really build up your arm muscles! Friday we will pick up the rolls and slice them. Hoagie construction starts at 5 am!

Today is a "mom" day. So far, it seems pretty nice outside, although it has been really humid the last few days. They say that will break today later.

Dave - what's for dinner tonight? :rotfl2:

Happy "mom" day!!

Dinner will have to be something quick, dr appt for youngest at 3:30 soccer practice 5:30. Not much time to make anything good, BUT my wife tried your shepards pie with green beans and loved it:sad2:. We did make it half corn and half green beans, I just don't do green beans. She thanks you, please don't post anymore green bean recipes...:lmao:

Have a great day

Good luck on the hoagie sale Sue. Sounds like you'll be busy!

I have a question.

I thought I remember some one here saying that they stayed at concierge at the Animal Kingdom? If we can't do the cruise we may do that. I thought I would ask my DIS friends. how the Club level lounge was and if you had a savanna view.

Thanks
Flo

Wish it was a day for me - no, that means I go to my mom's a do all of my errands and visiting there for most of the day!

I'm going through my recipes as we speak to find more green bean recipes just for you Dave!! :rotfl2: You're welcome, Tanya!! ;)

Yep, we did this in the spring and it netted the troop over $1000 in profit. This one will be half profit for the troop for advancements and stuff, and half to the boys who will actually work the event on Saturday - money will go into their "scout account" to pay for upcoming trips and such! We really like to encourage the scouts to earn their trips themselves, that way hopefully it will mean more to them.

Morning Everyone!

Dianne - :surfweb::surfweb:for your DH. Glad he moved up on the list.

Well, enjoy your day anyway!! I think the DIS blocks any recipes, something they started today. If you try and post they will lock you out from ever posting again.. Please don't try, we enjoy chatting with you:rotfl2:

Thanks Flo! It will be busy - but fun! I have a great group of parents that help out with our troop, and we have a good time!

Okay guys - how do I put one of those countdown thingies on my signature? I went to Mickey Path and created the banner, but I don't seem to be doing the cut and paste thing right.

Hi, Flo,
Bob and I did a week in concierge at AKL before it was part of DVC. I wanted to try concierge just once and I so wanted to have a savanna view.
It was so wonderful. We were greeted like royalty when we drove up to the gate. We had someone meet us at the door and take us up to the concierge for check in. They had a little gift for us, and made us feel like we were VIP's. There is a very nice lounge overlooking the lobby. There was a cappacino machine...the real thing that makes expresso's and all kinds of coffee...wonderful. We really enjoyed the wine and liquors and imported beer in the evening. The staff was very nice and helpful. The lounge was a wonderful "haven" to get away from our room and just relax, read, have a cold drink of lemonade or the special "African punch". There were snacks and cookies, and a nice breakfast, as well as horderves (sp) in the evening.
The concierge staff will assist you with anything...in fact, they arranged for Bob to be the "Veteran of the Day" at the 5pm flag ceremony. There is only one veteran a day for the year...and they get a special pin and a phot of them and their family holding the flag. It meant a lot to him. We also got a tour of the huge suites that Regis and Kelly stay in, and a gift from the concierge...I got a wooden giraffe, a safari Mickey, and a very nice pen and pencil set with the AKL engraved in it. When we left, they have a very nice little bag with a note in it and some bottled water to end our "safari". Everything had special touches and we really enjoyed it. Our savanna view was wonderful. I got wonderful close up photos of the giraffes and zebras. I find them just so fascinating. Those tongues on the giraffe are amazing. We had turn down service every night with little notes left for us with African folklore and of course a candy. It was something we will never forget. We also did the sunrise safari and it was FABULOUS. We had the first safari of the day and we stopped to see every single animal. We even had close ups of the lions...so majestic. I treasure those photos that I got. The feast to follow was WONDERFUL...so many different foods, and all cooked to perfection.

I would highly recommend this to anyone. It was pricey, but we did this once, and once only. We could never afford to do this on a regular basis, and I think it would take away the "WOW" factor and the magical memories.

I am going to call to see about the Alaskan cruise and how many million points it would cost. It might be my retirement present if we can swing it.

I still need to sing my Flo song to you!!!

Blessings,
Susan
