Hi all! Can I join the thread? I’ll be cruising with my dad for our first-ever father-daughter cruise! Even though the cruise is still a few months away, we can’t wait to cruise!

Hi there, smilingmouse!! Welcome to our little group!!:welcome:
I love your avatar by the way!!:thumbsup2

What made you choose the 7 day western? QUOTE]

Hi and thank you! I really like the Western itinerary. Key West is a blast! Make sure you try frozen key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick---yummy! Cozumel is also fun. My dad (aka Papa) and I are also big Grand Cayman fans! The timing of this cruise worked well for Papa and I too. I was on the Wonder from 2/5-2/8 and we were able to get both a great rate and a $200.00 OBC. Basically, everything worked out perfectly!

Hi smilingmouse,

:dance3: Welcome welcome welcome!!!:dance3:

I'll add you to our list of names on the first page. Let me know your names/ages if you want to. Great to have you join us:goodvibes

This frozen key lime pie covered in chocolate on a stick
is beginning to sound legendary! Must be decadent. Already told the DH we would be trying that one out! At the Giraffe or someplace right? Have to remember to look up it's location. There seems like there is so much to see and do in so little time. . .

So about snorkeling, Grand Caymen? (DH has snorkeled there and loved it), Cozumel? or Castaway Cay? Which is better? clearer I guess I mean? more to see? I don't know, never really snorkeled but I have a 14 and 6 year old (will he be allowed?) who are excited to try.

Also need to get a thread up on general board but will ask here as well. We need to rent a car in Grand Caymen and Cozumel. Anyone here have any info on doing that? Public transportation is limiting with 6 both price wise and what you are able to fit in and were you can stop and go. And the DH just loves his independance! ha!

I was thinking the same thing about the Key Lime Pie...Can't wait to try it either!!!!:dance3:

I don't really know a lot about snorkeling since I've only done it at Castaway Cay, but I was thinking that it might be a good place for your kids to try it since they have the sunken Mickey there. Just something fun for them!!;)

Hi All!

How's that new baby Asher doin'?

Anyway, spent a little time going back and reading thru this thread and it made me think of a couple things to ask!

1. why the heck can't I get a trip ticker to come up on my profile? I did it for our previous trips and I've tried everything I know how to do altho I admit I'm no techno geek.

2. Are we still thinking of organizing/doing a 1) meet? 2)group pic) 3) and fish extenders? I am interested if so.

3. Does anyone else feel like they are running out of time to do everything to get ready? I can't believe I feel like this and we still have 6+ months to go! Maybe it's because it's our first time cruising? just wondered.

Don't know about car rentals or snorkeling but I did want to share my plans for key west: off the boat, get frozen key lime pie covered in chocolate, back on boat. That's literally all my plans for Key West, I've never tried it but it sounds awesome. I'll trust the all-knowing DISers on this one. :thumbsup2

Asher's great thanks. If I remember how to post pics, I'll post one. He's 12 weeks now and such a good boy.

I'm cool with a meet, group pic, and fish extenders. My last cruise we had 2 meets, the first was on the first day after the lifeboat drill (or before the drill, don't remember). We met up at the bar/lounge um . . oh man, I'll have to look back, the hallway by Parrot Cay. It was a good location because it's very big and open and usually pretty empty. Rather than fish extenders, we just handed goody bags at the 2nd meet. Otherwise you're running all up and down the ship! :scared1: Then again, that way the gifts can be spread over a few days maybe. Oh wait, does this then mean I need to decorate mine and have something fancy? I don't know how creative I can get!

I'm definitely up for a group pic and meet. As far as the fish extenders...I'll be honest, I've never done one before, but it seems like a lot of work. But I'll leave that up to everyone else.
And I definitely know what you mean about feeling like time is running out. I made myself a check list of things that have to be done, but now I'm afraid that I've forgotten to add something to the list all together!

Ooooh, I'd love to see pics of the little Asher, too!!

Hi everyone! I am also up for a meet and a pic. Fish Extenders are fund, but you may get tons of stuff! I’m sorry, but our excursion plans are going to be very boring. We aren’t planning on doing any excursions—just getting off the ship, shopping and hanging out.

I am staring at 8 inches of snow out my office window and it is still coming down, at 6 months out, someone else must be dreaming of cruising so where are they?

:teacher: And students, that means either our boat is half empty (HA!) or our fellow travels do not Dis (their loss!). I did see a couple cat12's still available on the DCL site, they come and go I guess.

I just finished printing out the Navigators from a Nov2008 western and am going to try my hand at "scheduling" some of our time and see how it goes.

I have no idea at all what my teens will really want to do OR if my 6 & 4 year olds will want to stay in the clubs or swim?

I also am thinking about giving up our rental car on GCaymen and paying for a stingray/snorkeling excursion thru a popular/reliable with good reviews place I found (they seem to have great prices and offer 3 hour tours) sounds just about right. I'll be right there with you tho smilingmouse as my DD4 and I will just shop or hang in town probably. Not sure if we can "walk" to a beach to just hang?

I am currently researching how to best implement or get a fish extender going. I've seen some really cute stuff and as I am NOT the least bit creative (you are in good company Ibela) I am looking for fun, easy, cool things to do this with. I don't think it has to be over the top BUT in my book, it has to look like it! Ha! I just think my little ones would love that bit of pixie dust and being part of such. More info coming on that!

I also wrote out a list (which I can not lay my hands on at this moment!) of how many kiddos and their ages we know are cruising. Seperated it into boys/girls and by age. Looks like a great group. LOTS of little girls! Love to see us get a group shot of them all decked out in some "matching" way? Any interest?

And one final question to all the experienced crusiers, (or just if you have a good idea about this) Do you wear your KTTW card on a lanyard? and if not, what do you do with it? I have visions of them getting lost, forgotten, and running back to the cabin repeatedly. . .altho, truth be told, I hate things around my neck. . .ideas?

My two DDs and I wear our KTTW cards on our lanyards. DH just carries his in his pocket. At night, for dinner, I pack a small purse with my card and DDs do not carry their cards then at all. But during the day, on excursions, etc., yes, we wear the lanyards.

My name is Elizabeth and my family and I will be joining all of you on the cruise. There will be four of us...
Geoffrey my husband,
Preston my 9 year old son,
and Wilson my 3 year old daughter.

Preston will be celebrating his 10th birthday while we are on the boat and my husband and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversay- a little late. (our anniversary is in June)

This trip will be a total surprise to our children. We live four hours from Disney, so we are going to stop at Disney on Friday afternoon to eat dinner at Downtown Disney and then travel on to our hotel at Cape Canaveral. Once we get in the car we will put in the Disney Cruise DVD and watch the children's faces. I can't wait!!!:cheer2:

I am a planner, so needless to say I am driving my husband CRAZY. I can say that I have been very impressed with him. Usually I have to do all the planning and then as we get in the car or on the plane he starts asking questions. This time he has really helped plan a little.Still he can't understand why I need to print out our door magnets NOW.

I would love to do the FE. I know my children would love this. I haven't found a FE that I love, but believe me I will keep searching.

Instead of ordering a basket for the kids to receive in the room, I have been picking up things that they will need and use on the cruise. I am going to put the things in a bucket and sneak them in the room before they get there.:thumbsup2

See you soon.

:welcome: to the meet thread and to the Disboards!

Glad to have you on board! Looks like your little Wilson makes 7 (I think) 3 and 4 year old girls! How fun is that?

Have you cruised before? I'm a cruise newbie and so excited. Everyone on this thread is so nice to chat with. I'm sure as the days count down we will get lots more chatter going.

In the meantime, I am trying to read everything I can find. And I thought planning my weeks at Disney was a lot of work! :rotfl:

I am soooo tempted to stop at DTD on our way into town but know I should just keep on driving. No sense making the DH crazy before we start the cruise. DTD is his least favorite place and my favorite! HA! Guess I'll have to get a hold of my mickey antenna toppers for the FE some other way! Love that idea!!

Gotta run, crazy day here. 8 inches of snow in March, ugh!

I know, we have SO MUCH snow outside - if only I could be on the ship instead (or just about anywhere else). :cloud9:

We also wear our KTTW cards on our lanyards (just remember to take it off for pictures!) and I'd wait a while to see if they change the navigators before trying to plan stuff out. We're going to just play it by ear, there weren't that many things for us that we really wanted to do and the ones I had planned in advance ended up not happening (ex. me creating my own kite for CC day even though it was a family activity because no one else wanted to do it, then I lost it so we never even used it!!).

The list is a great idea! Thanks for doing that. :goodvibes

We don't wear ours on a lanyard. The DH usually keeps up with both of ours. I think all his pants and shorts have pockets, so it's just easier for us that way!

Welcome, Elizabeth!:wave2: :welcome: It's great to have you here!:woohoo: If our cruise had a name, it would definitely have to be along the lines of "celebration" since we are all celebrating different things onboard!!:dance3: Which hotel are you staying at in Cape Canveral?

I think it's the Radison. I can't put my hands on the conf. right now, but that seems right. I think it $100 and free parking.

Wilson will have a great time, now we just need a few more boys to join us for Preston.

Now I think it would be fun to leave Friday morning and let the boys go to Disney Quest for the day (we already have tickets) and the girls can shop. We could tell Preston that we were just going for the day and then surprise him later.
