09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

We just booked! We will be there! We have a family of four -- DH, DD (age 14), DD (age 10 but will turn 11 on the cruise), and me.

We will be sailing with our friends. They have a DH, DW, and DD (age 13).

I just found the thread so I have to go back and read posts to see what other DISers we are sailing with.

We can't wait! :cool1:

Welcome, TLHB70!!! :welcome:
It's exciting to have someone else join our little group!!! And I am sure that your DS is excited about having his birthday onboard! My DSIL will also be celebrating during our cruise!!:cheer2:

I also forgot to mention that I've officially started my Pre-TR!!:thumbsup2 It's nothing exciting so far, but if you're like me, it helps to pass the time between now and our cruise!:moped:

Thanks! I will have to check it out.
I am now in the official research stage. I am trying to learn everything I can about our ports and what we should see. Our last Disney cruise was the eastern so we are having to start from scratch with research.
My DH and his friend would like to go diving and/or fishing. Does anyone know of a reputable dive company and/or fishing guide?

:cheer2: WELCOME WELCOME TLHB70:cheer2: :wave2:

I cant believe Ive been such a slacker and not been on here for a whole week to see your post!!! I'll have to snap right out of that! A week without the Disboard, what am I thinking? :upsidedow
Great to have you joining us. There seems to be a few of us on here now with birthdays and the like happening. My DD will be turning 3 the day we are in Cozumel. Cant help with the fishing/diving recommendation Im afraid.
Are you a newbie to the Disboards? I love love love your ticker by the way.

Missy I cant wait to read your Pre-TR!!:hyper: So glad to hear that DSIL and DN decided to dress up for pirate night. I havent got our costumes yet for Jay and I but I have the kids one's which I picked up here for $6 each. I thought that was a bargain.

I've been wondering where you've been lately, Mel!;) Doesn't it stink when life gets in the way of the DIS?!
I think our whole cruise is going to be one BIG celebration!!:cheer2:
I'd love to hear more about your pirate costumes. I still haven't decided just how "dressed" up we're going to get. The DSIL and DN are just going with a blue and white striped top, khaki capris, the big earrings and a bandana. I think it will look cute! I've been looking for some kind of "pirate themed" shirt to wear, but haven't had any luck!

No, I am not a newbie. We usually go to WDW once a year unless we are taking a cruise. We have done 2 DCL cruises previously; this will be our third. I am typically on the DIS daily, usually in the morning before school. I usually hang out on the theme parks board, community board, family board (homeschool thread), and cruise board.
My two DDs dressed up for pirate night on our last cruise. (It was the eastern.) DH and I just wore white shirts and black pants.
I have a short video of our cruise pictures if you would like to see it. You will be able to see DDs pirate costumes there.

Doh! I cant believe how silly I am, I just saw your number of posts!! How did I miss that?? Must have been all the excitement yesterday and I typed away without looking, which often happens:blush: Id love to see the cruise pictures and will do after this. I am such a noob myself I dont even know how to put a picture up yet, but I'll do my best to describe my kids costumes. Travis has black and white striped frayed pants with a red sash and a white pirate shirt with black lacing at the front and Amelia has a black and white striped frayed skirt with a red sash and a white top with thin straps. Both have a red bandana I think to wear on their heads.
DH wants to go for more of the POTC look so I'll have to look around for a bargain I feel. Its hard because we dont really have halloween over here so there is never really a good time that we are certain to pick up a good buy.

Wow. That is so great that your DH wants to dress up! I have to be honest..........DH will never dress up! He is all for me buying the costumes for our DDs. He would even support me dressing up. However, he would never dress up.

Well I admit I am probably guilty of making him believe that everyone does it:blush: :rotfl: ... is that bad? He has mainly agreed to make an effort for the sake of our DD whose birthday it is on that day, but he is proving to be pretty fussy with the style of costume now. Lucky we have just a little bit of time to look around:rolleyes: :rotfl:
Are you planning to spend any time at DW before or after the cruise?

You guys have been busy this past week or so!

Welcome!! I'm trying to convince family and friends to come with us too but so far no bites. :sad2:

I think that sounds great!

We won't be dressing up for Pirate Night, just the bandanas they give out.

Hey Irene:wave2: ,

Great to 'see' you:) You are doing well to find time to get on with your new little cruiser:goodvibes

Thanks about the costumes, I think the kids will look cute. Cant wait to take heaps of pictures.

OK you guys might think I am totally OCD but Ive just organised the Tux formal hire for Jay with shoes and also shoes for Travis. It ended up being $113 all up. I thought that was ok. It would be hard to find a men's suit here for less than $80 anyway and we dont want the extra baggage taking up space where souvenirs could be:rotfl: I'll still have to get Travis' suit but the boys suits are only about $35 here so I'll just buy it. It was really easy, I went to www.cruiselineformal.com after another cruiser gave me the tip, or maybe it was in the sticky threads I cant remember now. Apparantly they also stock an inventory on the ship too just in case you need to switch sizes or something.:thumbsup2

Are you planning to spend any time at DW before or after the cruise?

No. We went to WDW back in October this past year. We were overwhelmed with the crowds!!!!!! We had never been in October before. We went with these same friends, and that was the only week they could go. It was Columbus Day week, and the crowds were horrible. The trip ended up being too much, and DH said that it will be a few years before he wants to go to WDW again.

Mel, you can let your DH know that he won't be the only man dressing up for Pirate Night! Over the weekend, the DH and I were talking about what we wanted to wear, and he informed me that he wants to "go all out"! He even went so far as to say that he wants a little parrot to sit on his shoulder and wants to find a way to make himself look like he has a "peg leg"!:rotfl2: Needless to say, I was very surprised.:faint: I guess that's what the Disney magic will do to ya!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I just totally cracked up, your hubby sounds like such a character:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: What did you say? That would have been so funny. I just told Jay and he thought that was hilarious:rotfl: :goodvibes

The funny thing is that he is normally a very shy and quiet person around people he don't know, which is why I was very surprised when he said that he wanted to go all out...I can't wait to see it though!:scratchin

Yep, I've been managing to sneak online a few times a week and am going to start working part-time (from home) soon. Now THAT should be interesting . . .

Of course you're OCD, we all are! That's why we've been on this thread for so long before the trip. When I booked I wanted to reserve a spot for the baby to avoid a $95 change penalty later. When I was asked the baby's name I said undecided, but really he wasn't even conceived yet! Yeah, I think I should be embarassed to admit that. . . :upsidedow

In any class, I'm glad you guys are going formal because Erik has a tux and I'm planning on making him bring it with us.

OK, we're definitely going to have to get a group shot on Pirate Night, you guys will look awesome! Just remember to not bring a plastic sword or they'll confiscate it at boarding.

Is everyone wearing a tux? The DH has a really nice suit that I planned on him wearing. He doesn't really like the idea of having to rent a tux, so I thought his suit with a nice tie would be fine for formal night. What do y'all think?

Good tip about the sword, ibela! I didn't even think of that...thanks!:)

Not everyone wears a tux, maybe 1/2. Dark suit is just fine too. I just like him to wear a tux for the sole purpose of getting nice pictures! :thumbsup2

New additions to the cruise, my in-laws will be cruising with us. They're 60. I'll steer my mil to this thread, she's suddenly become computer savvy. :upsidedow

Hi All,

Irene great to hear we have some new cruisers coming.:) Smiled about you reserving a spot for baby, glad to hear we are alike here!! Ive decided its not OCD, its being exceptionally organised:rotfl2: Love to meet up and get a group shot with all of us. Was going to ask about this and about meeting up on the ship but didnt know if it was too early - is there such a thing with us?? :lmao:

Missy, Mike's suit sounds great. The only reason Jay is getting the tux is that we really have to watch with the luggage what we take and we are paying for the convenience of having it available to hire on the ship. Although Im sure he'll complain when its time to get dressed up in it:rolleyes:
