08 was so Great at the Poly...TR-NEW 2/3 Time to say Good-bye (final post) / pics

Wow, Scrappie!! Your book plans look absolutely amazing!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Your scrapbooking skills are really going to come in handy... what a great way to utilize your talents!

I'm thinking that I may do something similar for Billy this year... usually we refer frequently to the Operational Plan (hung up on the fridge with magnets) as a general calendar/schedule, but he may enjoy having something made just for him.

Now... to just find the time!! :hourglass

Oh boy, what a great thread! :goodvibes

My oldest son - who will also be 9yo in May - is EXTREMELY spirited. We have never had him assessed, other than regular well-child check-ups at our family doctor.

He shares some personality traits with your son - according to your posts - so I think your PTR will be really really helpful as we plan our October trip. I wonder if it will make a difference for us because our group includes 16 family members - which includes my two boys, two of my nephews and one family friend's daughter. Will that make the trip harder or easier? I dunno :confused3

We've been to Disneyland Paris, but only for the day. He was fine in the park, but it's not really comparable to WDW, both in terms of park size and length of stay (we'll be there Oct 16-25) kwim?

The guidebook you're making for your son is absolutely fantastic - I so wish I was craftier! :rotfl2: I wonder if I could make an idiot-proof version? He loves reading the UG for WDW with Kids book - maybe I could do something with that?

Looking forward to reading more :wizard:

Wow!

I sooo wish my creativity will develop into something like yours given time, ideas and material! :worship:
I've always been kinda artsy and loved creating, but often lacked the spark or the ideas... You know, wanting to scrapbook, having all the stuff out, but having no idea what to do with it!? Or having a blank canvas and the paint dripping from the brush, but...:confused3

The DIS and the excitation about the trip is helping a whole lot though... I'm doing designs for tank tops (we don't do Tshirts!;)), mousekeeping enveloppes, CM thank you cards, etc. And I can't wait 'til I come back (hum... well no, I don't really want to come back!) to start the scrapbook! :yay:

I think I, too, will steal your binder idea... just for fun though... If we are able to return to Disney in about 4 years as we are now talking about doing, I'd love making such a binder for our plans! You know, something more to do to keep the time flying!

I think this binder is a wonderful idea (isn't the DISabilities board wonderful?!:thumbsup2) and I'm pretty sure it'll help Michael deal with the trip!

Kathy Glad to see you back...and as my given nickname from you...I've been busy scrappin too been posting on the Scrapbooking Thread my monthly totals...need to get off here and get some more done:rolleyes1

Thanks for the nice comment on my plans. I'm finally feeling :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 with it all. and myabe something super easy to do for your April trip is just make a page for each day (like in Publisher if you have it) with pictures of the days schedule and then any necessary info...then bring some fun little Mickey stickers or stars and he can place a sticker on each picture as you go. Or even on his own Map. Print those ones off the WDW site. Let me know how it goes...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome Welcome lisalonglash So glad you've said :wave2: and joined in Thanks for sharing about your DS too. Our first trip w/ kids was with family too. Not the whole time though, it can be tricky, but still rewarding. You're really just gonna have to read your son and base things on him. Trying not to squeeeze a ton into each day may help too, allow some quiet breaks. And maybe pick a handful of special fun things to do with your extended family not the whole trip...may make it less stressful. just a thought.

Read above for maybe a simple version...of my guidebook

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Annie your sweet! I can't wait to get back to to start the scrapbook too...now which do I love more...going or scrapping the trip...I havn't started my picture list yet, but you know I will;)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just one last tid-bit for today...

I posted the guidebook on the disABILITIES board and have recieved some really encouraging comments. SueM even linked it into the FAQ's sticky thread...wow! I was truly humbled by that.

Here is the link below to the FAQ thread and just scroll down to communications to find my thread. I'll post more here as a go, but more specifics I'll keep there. I'll let you know when I update it too.

Ok so I'm a day late on posting my "happy 60 day away day" so we go with the ever more popular dance the "59 days away dance" Now who's gonna dance with me??

 :dance3: :yay: :yay:  :dance3: :yay: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo:

(PS Kathy, think we're officially in the 3rd Trimester of this 10 mo PTR ;) )

Now I'v left ya hanging for quite some time on this whole DAY 1) Debate you remember Studios or No Studios..after MRYPPNS and Amy debated along w/ me and had their own discussion on the matter :rolleyes1 I did make a decision w/ DH and DMom as well. Now if you had your keen eyes open you may have noticed a clue to the plan in Michael's stickers in his guidebook anyhow quoting myself first is a re-cap on the last post about this issue below:

hey Amy and MRYPPNS (or can I call you Hedi?)

Thanks for the further input....it's good to have some power Diz minds understnading my complex nurosises (ok that is so msp) ;)

Anyhow, never thought the possibility of losing the 1 day on the tickets really wasn't a TON of money...need to look at that. Cause I know to add no exp is like $400 dollars for our 5 tickets...have to see how DMom feels about that (since she'd lose a day too).

My reasoning:
A) need a game plan, we can't just totally decide on our toes, especially for Michael (we learned that on the mini Dells trip and WDW is alot grander w/ more overwhelming choices)
B) need an overall plan to fit in our alloted ADR's on the DDP and the TPTP to follow

(The specific ADR is not the hold-up it was more losing a day on the tickets and thinking fit it all in pressure)

It never occured to me to make 2 ADR's for 2 plans. I'm cool deciding (for the most part) some of these tentative plans based on the many varaible you can never really plan...ie Day 2 AK stay for parade or not....

Now w/ the flight being bumped feeling rushed with the plan for a few hrs at the Studios on Day 1 and just this gut feeling this may not be the right choice/plan for Day 1 (overall not just for Michael) this possibly could be the solution.

DH is not keen on the real non-flexibility of the Day 1 anyways...have some alternate choices to run thru here. Plus I really love the idea of HM hunting...Michael would get the most fun from that w/ his Passporter Treasure Hunter book...and who's to say we couldn't go to a park on the Day 6 then at night...need to try and be flexed here, but still w/ plans....Can you see my brain working through this?:rotfl:

Need to run Mae to gymnastics...started talking to DH about it earlier, keep you posted. Thanks for helping to get some new ideas flowing.

So YES, I took MYPPNS's advice and scrapped Day 1) altogehter YES!!! that's right I dumped it like the trash on Monday mornings.... Now what?

This was the first thought:
(first posted 1/15)
Arrive at Studios 1hr before
3 pm ADR at Mama Meleroses
EMSS
VoLM
TGMR
split for MV3D/ST/HISTK playset
me ToT & RnRC
Fantasmic

Then this was the 2nd thought:
(posted just a few weeks later 1/31)
get to Studios more around 2:30 pm
3 pm ADR still
EMSS
split for MV3D/ST/HISTK playset
VoLM
??TGMR

Now here is the new plan:
Magic Kingdom
Railroad
SM
the tea cups......:scared1: (I know what your thinking) JK

NO PARKS on the Arrival Day!!! Now I could leave you hanging for a few more weeks, but hey with only 59 days of viable PTR posting days...we must not waste, right?

So here we go:

Hoping for Early Checkin via request through Special Request/Services
Thinking we'll arrive w/ no major delays around 1/1:15 pm at the Poly (Mickey Time)
Check-in Room?
Walk around, take in the Resort and activites going on like Arts & Crafts in the CGH
Maybe go swimming
watch a Hula a presentation around 3:45 in the GCH
Freshen up and have girls change into their costumes and we have a
4:50 ADR at 1900 Park Fare for Cinderella's Gala Feast (:yay: now DMom can go too)
Then afterwards depending on time and mood we may head over to DTD Marketplace and do a little shopping and get some treats and stuff at Goofy's Candy Co. w/ a DDP S credits...
then back to our room and have the kiddios clean up and rest a bit and maybe
put on jammies and go down to the beach to watch the EWP and possibly Wishes

then off to bed till our first FULL day in the WORLD at AK...

Now I'm listing this not as anything difinitive except for the ADR, but we'll have this "plan" to help w/ decision making and Michael and play it by :listen: to a point.

So how do we all feel about it:confused: Good I hope :goodvibes

I feel finally :yay: with Day 1)

MouseScrapper (J-) ::yes::

That sounds like a great first night...can Amy and I join you?? I'm so happy that your Mom will get to go to Royal Feast at GF with the family. I'm sure that your room will be ready if you talked to special services. When are you having lunch??

What's planned for AK???

Hi J!

I haven't had a chance to check out your posting on the DISabilities FAQ, but I definitely will when I get a chance.

Your day 1 plan sounds perfect! A solution to all of your problems. :thumbsup2 And you know it's right if you finally feel good about it. :goodvibes

Keep a close eye on your mailbox this week! ;)

Amy

First before I get to the MICKEY MAIL!!!

I was busy being a good Scrappie Do and working like I said in my scrapbook room last week. I covered all of the binder section pages in Michael's special guidebook (few pictures below) and made 12 of the first 24 invites for the twins 2 upcoming Birthday Parties in May...hint we miss this Disney Party by 1 day, so we're having our own! Post a pic later.

100_1104.jpg

100_1105.jpg

100_1116.jpg

I also typed up some daily checklist schedules to add to the binder for Michael. For more specific info on his binder I invite you to view my thread on his guidebook in the disABILITIES boards. here's the link:

Now looky here what did my kids discover last Friday on their trip to the mail box???:confused3 :confused3
100_1088.jpg

100_1089.jpg

My dear friend DisMom AMY played Special Fairy Godmother to my 4 kiddos while on her trip last week. I had just checked the forums to see if she posted she was back on her PTR and welcome her back, when as well I had a very cute picture attached in a PM (maybe she can share). I was all giggly w/ childhood delight :cutie: :rotfl: and feeling just full of smiles and Disney Magic:wizard: when I looked outside the front window wondering what's keeping the kids with getting the Mail?

Well it was Mickey Mail!
100_1119.jpg

100_1122-1.jpg

I was running around "where's the camera?" I have to capture this moment!

I wonder who was more giddy? Me or them!

Then they come bounding in through the door....

"Look what we got!"
"Mickey Mouse sent us postcards"

"Oh Really :rolleyes1 "

"How does he know were coming?"
"Where did he get our address?"
"How does he know our names"

"Well you know he's the boss down there...of course he knows who's coming!"

"What does it say?"

"Wow! How about that"

After a breif pause....

"Wait you did this..."
"he can't really know..."

"No, no, I didn't do it, look at the stamp, where did it come from? It's from Orlando, see the Epcot stamp?" "Does that look like my handwriting?"

The 2 smarty pant almost 9-year olds study it a bit more....

Then Aldine goes and get's here autograph book from 05 and compares the signatures....

(Whoo boy! they're tough)

"it is from him!"
"Cool"
"are you sure you didn't do it?" "YES!"
"Let's call Grandma and Daddy!"

100_1096.jpg

100_1092.jpg

(I just had to share this one! Look at those faces!)

So Huge :thanks: :thanks: to Amy for doing this for us! It was awesome. When we called DH on that phone, he was giggling w/ joy too and my DMom when she saw them the next day...was just stumped. How did I do that?

What a great GIFT before we go!:goodvibes

MouseScrapper (J-)

PS look at my ticker....it says 1 month 3 weeks 1 day
:woohoo:

What wonderful "surprise"! I know the feeling of getting special Mickey mail too...it's like pixie dust has been sprinkled in your house!

I going over to the guidebook thread now...

The double-checking the signature kills me-that's so something my 12 year old nephew would have done. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Mickey mail must have been so fun! :goodvibes

I offered to do this to all members of my family, friends and extended family that have children, and to date, only one family has answered :confused3.
Those said yes though! ;)
I'm not sure how it will fare with the kids though, because they're not going to Disney in the future and have never been either (not that the kids wouldn't want to!). Plus, the kids are not very young (one is a pre-teen, the other is 10y.o.) and since
1) the letters or postcards (not decided yet) will be in french (per decision of mom) and
2) it'll have been posted while I'm in Disney,
there's a huge, huge risk they'll know I have something to do with it. :rolleyes1
I intend of changing my handwriting and such, but...

Still, their mom thinks they'll be thrilled to have mail from Florida (they love getting mail and almost never do, so imagine foreign mail!) and a personalized souvenir, even if they realize I wrote the things myself and everything.

I really hope they'll be as happy as your kids! I also hope it doesn't make them miserable about not going to Disney... :guilty:

100_1089.jpg

Awesome!! I feel the Joy!

The 2 smarty pant almost 9-year olds study it a bit more....

Then Aldine goes and get's here autograph book from 05 and compares the signatures....

(Whoo boy! they're tough)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

How Magical!!!

It's getting so real, now! :goodvibes

Kathy

Hi J! I'm so glad they enjoyed the post cards!! That's funny about checking the signature. Good thing I was able to find the real thing! Did they notice that the rest of the writing on the postcard was a little different? I tried to do a good immitation... I had so much fun doing it. :)

I still haven't made it over to check out your book, but I'm going to put a shortcut on my desktop right now so I don't forget again. :goodvibes

Amy

PS- Thanks for sharing the pictures!!

Hi J! I just heard on the news that there was an earthquake near Chicago! :scared1: I hope you are all OK. My thoughts are with you. :grouphug:

Amy

Amy

First, Amy I didn't even know....my DDad comes over to watch Margaret this morning while I volunteer at the twins school and says did you feel the earthquake? I'm like duh? what:confused3

so I guess it was a good thing I dind't know or feel anything!:goodvibes

Apparently my parents walls were actually shaking they have a bunch of those decorater plates and they were shaking scary:scared: and he siad people could feel the Sears Tower shaking too.

And then at school today, one teacher siad her dog and cats were going yippy about a 1/2 before...

Anyhoot, all good here!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So glad you all got the funnests kicks out of the MICKEY MAIL! super thanks again to AMY!

MRYPPNS: it was like pixie dust all overpixiedust:

Hedy: yeah, nothing like a smarty kid...JK the twins are definitely at that in between age now of believing and "believing" same problem w/ :santa:

AnnieDan_Artlover: It was so fun. Don't worry how it will go over on their end, as Amy said she had a blast doing it for me....so will you :goodvibes and in french, like to see that!

KathyRN137: it's definitely getting real now! Called yesterday and made the final payment on the trip...all the major logistics are done...:woohoo:

DisMomAmy: they really did and so did DH and I. it will always be a special memory of this trip!

Will try to post another TOP 5 this weekend otherwise see you all on Monday my official Disboard Day!

MouseScrapper (J-):disrocks: :mickeyjum

It’s REVEAL DAY! :yay:

Wow I can not believe how the time has flown since the holidays…April is practically over and I’m closing in fast now on my trip. With only 46 days to go now it’s getting so REAL!!!!

Thinking of the pregnancy analogy of my trip, I should be in my nesting mode, huh?

With just about 6 weeks till I give “birth” to my 08 will be so Great at the Poly trip…there’s much to do!

PTR upkeep: more TPTP reveals, finish off the families TOP 5 lists and my wishes :genie: for all, thanks and props to you the Disers :disrocks: , packing lists, clothes lists, cleaning lists, to do lists, last minute lists, things left to do lists, things to buy lists, scrapbook picture list, etc, etc dizzy

Finish doing all the things on THOSE LISTS!!!

Finish Michael’s guidebook….

Oh I know there’s more :rolleyes1

Now in all big events that you’ve been planning for quite sometime, a wedding, moving into a new home, giving birth, starting a new job, going to WALT DISNEY WORLD….if you’re like me you may start to have the dreams

And I’m not talking the fun dreams, but the scary dreams….:scared: and can you guess what my scary dream could be…how well have you gotten to know me over the last 100+ days? :confused3

A) forget the plane tickets
B) lose a child
C) forget the schedule

I’ll let you ponder that thought for awhile….

Now lets get to business where are we going on DAY 3) ? according to my The Park’s Touring Plan (TPTP) were off to the ever fun Magic Kingdom and the ever educational Epcot. First for a little flashback fun, here is a picture of a MK guidemap from 1985 my first trip to the World and these 2 parks were the only ones back then.

100_1133.jpg

100_1134.jpg

100_1135.jpg

sorry this last one is blury, but you can see, basically just MK, Epcot, the monorail, FW and a few resorts...what did people do then ;)

Also here are a few pictures from our last trip 20 years later in 2005 (I promise to get a few classy pictures of me as a cute 11 yr old up here too from the ’85 trip)

100_1019.jpg

100_1190.jpg

100_0919.jpg

100_1013.jpg

100_1030.jpg

Now for the 2008 TPTP: (dubbed "Pack it In Day")

*first a little breakfast with Pooh…ok that doesn’t sound too appetizing, let’s try that again…a little breakfast with Winnie the Pooh and Friends (Piglet is my favorite!)

*back up one step…take in the opening magic of walking down Main Street with just a few guests…I can’t wait!

*after our character breakfast at the Crystal Palace (a 1st for all) we will not use the restrooms inside the restaurant thanks to Kathy RN’s story….:rotfl:

*music please…do you hear the “Elephant March” ? DUMBO!

*now some hopeful quick touring of Fantasyland:
WTP ride or the Carrousel
Peter Pan’s Flight (2nd Star to the left…)
Split: DH and Michael to Snow White’s Scary Adventures (though me nervous for Michael) and me, DMom, and the girls off to see the pretty red-headed mermaid princess ARIEL (don’t worry we plan to line up by 9:45 am)
IASW
And a spin :faint: on the Tea Cups

*now for a little futuristic fun in Tomorrowland:
get a snack if we’re hungry
DMom, me and Aldine will have gotten FP’s already for Space Mountain so split for that at some point, the rest go on Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters
Meet up and go on the WEDway People Mover (ok I know its technically now the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, but we love the old name :) )
One more time on Buzz Lightyear all together now

Ok that is the overall morning plan for MK, maybe adding in Mickey’s Philharmagic, character sightings and maybe even Margaret’s First Haircut at the Main Street Barber Shop

We’ll take the monorail back to the Poly and have a nice afternoon break, with resting, maybe even a little napping, reading and journaling.

My plan is to then be at or heading off to Epcot around 3:00 pm….

(I’ll post the 2nd half of our day, plus a bounce back to MK for some spectromagical fun! :rainbow: )

how’s it sound, hope fun & doable!

MouseScrapper (J-):tinker:

basically just MK, Epcot, the monorail, FW and a few resorts...what did people do then

SeaWorld
Busch Gardens in Tampa
Cape Carnival
Gatorland
the Beach
Cyprus Gardens

All the things that we won't leave Disney property for now (well not SeaWorld for us...we went last year)
