I have a Canon Rebel XTi and I shoot large JPEG not RAW

Very nice. I have the Rebel XT, and I shoot in RAW and Large JPEG. I was shooting only in Raw, but that's just too much "digital darkroom" work.

When we're on the cruise, I'm going to have a 10-22mm Ultra Wide Angle and a 300mm f/4 prime. I'm renting them just for this cruise. I'll get them 4 days before we fly, so I should have some time to learn how to use that 10-22. I'm excited about that one, I've loved just about every picture I've seen taken with it.

I shot RAW and large JPEG for a bit but since I rarely need RAW I quit it to save space. I mostly just shoot large JPEG now. Photshop can work on this file type as much as I really need.

If I have a "project" where I am shooting for real detail (flowers, scenes, etc) then I'll shot just RAW so I can have as much detail as possible for Photoshop to work with.

I'm renting from http://www.lensrentals.com , I've heard a lot of good things about them. When I submitted my request, about 20 minutes later I received an email from the owner confirming, and responding to my questions I had when ordering. I asked about the risks with insurance and a trip out of the US. He wanted to make sure that I understood that the insurance I purchased would not cover loss/theft including on the ship, but would still cover damages. I thanked him and said I still wanted the insurance and that I would be very careful while on the stops. He replied again telling me that he has been on dozens of cruises, and has never had a problem, but he is very careful to watch out for theft.

He seems like a really nice guy, and has great customer service. I have a coworker who rented from this company, and said it was perfect. The prices aren't too bad either, and are easy to see on the site.

Now, I wish I could afford to rent the Canon 400mm f2.8 IS , but that's one large lens, and it's very expensive, even to rent for three weeks. So, that's out, but the 300 seems to be a good lens with a decent size and will take some superb outdoor daylight shots.

I've also got a bit of a bug. I came home from work early yesterday. So I ordered some Cold FX from Amazon.com. I took this last winter to boost my immune system and it really seemed to help.

I have been checking every day, still no brunch. Maybe at 30 days. Otherwise we are going to have to get to the port early. We might be blowing of WDW because we are getting some grief from DD's pre-K and driving down on Friday after she gets out. Sigh...

There are tables for 3-4, just not tables for 1-2. If you link your reservations with someone else, you can all book a brunch together.

My DD missed 2 weeks of Pre-K for our first WDW trip and cruise. She missed 2 weeks of 2nd grade for our next WDW trip and cruise. Last year she missed 4 days of 3rd grade when we took a Greek cruise over Thanksgiving. She's now getting all As in 4th grade, and will miss a week of school in December for this cruise.

Don't let the teacher give you grief. She can give you input, but bottom line is your DD is YOUR daughter.

My Ressie is linked with my parents, and we cannot get the brunch. It's grayed out where you select "Choose your meal" - "Brunch", "High Tea", or "Dinner".

Bill sounds just like me, except I'm a Computer gamer, and not into the consoles like the XBOX. I still take my computer to "LAN parties" to get together with friends and play games for hours and hours. I drove to Connecticut several years back with some friends to attend a LAN party.

Maybe Bill and I will spend some time in the Oceaneers Lab, or the Stack, playing on their consoles

Hehe...Way back when, I used to play Unreal Tournament with friends over a LAN all the time and it was a blast. To me, XBOX Live has reminded me a lot of that atmosphere and is a better fit since our 9 year old computer really can't run any cool games.

I would not be concerned about a child missing pre-k. Goodness, we took DGKs out for 2 weeks several times up thru junior high and all made up the work just fine. High school we stopped because DGS is in the classes that gives him college credit and it would be harder to make up work and pass the tests he needs to pass for the credit.

It's probably the Pre-K giving her grief. They have to staff so many teachers to keep the right teacher-child ratios. When parents take children out, they expect to not have to pay, but what is the center supposed to do with those teachers? It's a tough thing, but most day care's only allow so many absences, changes to the schedule, and then you have to start paying for those changes.
