DrHug got the little thank you cards printed today that we hand out to CMs who make us feel special. He printed some for the rest of our crew too. We gave on to the lady that helped us get onto the DCL bus from the resort last year and she actually almost cried! :goodvibes Didn't seem much to us, but she must not get alot of sincere thank yous. Anyway, we are set with those now for both the resort, parks and the ship. We love handing them out and I'm sure they can make sure their managers see them and get some atta boys there also. Usually DrHug is printing them as we are running out the door to the airport! :sad2: He was real proud of himself today for getting something done early! :rotfl: :lmao:

I love it!:thumbsup2 I'm going to make some also. TFS.

Also, if you want to give your wait staff or room steward a little something extra, I've heard that Wal-Mart gift cards are good. There's a "fun bus" that takes them to Wal-Mart when the ship is in port.

Is everyone using stockings rather than FEs for this cruise? Some of the stuff I've picked up probably won't fit in FEs. Plus there's probably less chance of things "walking away" if they are in a stocking.

By the way, I sewed my first project on my new sewing machine....a stocking for the cruise!!

I posted on this thread early on but hadn't kept up. Was really surprised to see how it had grown. We are probably the oldest and luckiest couple on this cruise. I had to rush DH (one week after his 85th birthday) to the ER on August 12. He had a GI bleed complicated by Coumadin. He lost over half his blood and had numerous units of replacement blood. But through it all, he didn't waste an opportunity to tell his nurses and doctors that he was going on a Disney cruise in December. He had 4 wonderful young doctors including a surgeon ready to operate if necessary. They all agreed he should go on that cruise. He is recovering nicely and I think part of the reason is because he is so looking forward to the cruise. So if you see an elderly couple hanging on to each other for support, that will be us.

Aunt Jo! I am glad you are joining back in on the fun here on this thread. Just a few weeks ago my mom (age 82) decided to join us so you won't be the only elder folks on board. She is really getting excited and looking forward to her first cruise. Hope your DH heals and remains well so we will get a chance to meet you both!:grouphug: Have you cruised before?

I think everyone decided on stockings. :thumbsup2

We have done that and on a Dec cruise you can get the little tiny stockings and put a thank you card, a WM gift card and a small candy cane in there and give it to them. That makes it kind of a fun gift. We gave one to Daniello at Cove Cafe and he was very excited. He said he was going to buy a Christmas gift for his baby back home with it. That was a feel good moment for us! :goodvibes DH has gotten to know Daniello pretty well over 3 cruises.

We have cruised once before - a 4 day in late January. We both regret waiting so long to give cruising a try.

I'm so glad your DH is better. I love the part about him telling everyone about the cruise. We look forward to meeting you:banana:

Angie, great minds think alike. I was planning on making some mini stockings to give out on the cruise! The CMs work so hard to make our vacations special, it's nice to be able to make THEM smile. And they are so appreciative of any gesture, since they aren't expecting anything.

If I can't get it booked by Monday, I think I'll email the concierge and see if she can help. She is so wonderful.

I heard the shoreside concierge position is on a trial basis, so I figure I'll go ahead and give her more business now. They are going to make a decision in September as to whether or not to keep her.

Does everyone have Monday off? I don't get US holidays, so I'll be working :sad2:

I showed my DD a picture of the Christmas stocking I made, while we were chatting online. She was VERY impressed. She said "I can't believe you made that yourself, wow!" I think her Dad told her to make a big deal about it, because I'd told him how I'd spent 5 hours on it. She was very convincing though.

:rotfl2:

Just checked the ABC website to see when the new shows will be on this year. I can't wait to see Grey's Anatomy! I have to download it from itunes, but it's worth it.
